Well within SC1 he never worked for the confederates. He needed a hook into the UED to make sure they wouldnt win. So he lied about being a rebel of the confederates and got in. Then he made sure he got the most dangerous weapon against the zerg, the psi disruptor, destroyed and then went to kerrigan to help her out and make the zerg strong again.With zerg strong again the protoss and terran were too busy to colonise more planets and he could set up with hybrid program without being disturbed.

There is no mention of UED, there was no mention about jimmy promising kerrigan he would fuck her up, there was no mention of kerrigen being purely evil after the death of the overmind, there was no mention of the zerg being far more powerful than the other races after defeating them in the final mission.
