Can video games make a comeback?

Prison Architect is, too.
Terraria isn't bad for a time-waster.
Shovel Knight was alright.
PixelJunk games don't all suck.

There are some pretty great indie games and developers, but they need to get over calling themselves "indie", since it doesn't really matter to anyone but them.

Video games died when it became graphics > gameplay/depth/strategy/everything else.

It went that way because designing games is difficult, and is now a lost art.

Much like traditional animation after the introduction of Flash, and musical composition after DAWs became affordable to the masses.
