There's a reason Kirkhope left the project and it's not "concerns about his music style fitting."

A surprising amount of the devs (especially the higher-ups) have basically no experience making games.

some Youtuber which played this said in his video that this was kickstarted for 1000% over the initial goal

Sadly I agree with this and Banjo-Kazooie was probably my second favorite game for N64. I have absolutely zero confidence that Yooka Laylee will be good.

Nothing about it looks interesting and it has none of the charm of the classic platformers that I love. The main characters are completely generic and remind me more of the hordes of Sonic copycats from the early/mid 90s than something like B-K or Conker.

It just looks like a bland copycat version of Banjo-Kazooie and "more of the same" is not something I am into.

Where can I download the alpha? The torrent has no seeds.

Maybe it's because characters like Banjo came out of nowhere and stole your heart, whereas Yooka Laylee is advertised as 'THE SUCCESSOR TO BANJO' and we gotta, just gotta like the character, without even having played the game.

It's mostly a mix of gossip and what I've gathered from the things I've seen.

Generally when you get a team of people who haven't made games before, they want to go above and beyond, they want to make the biggest and greatest game they can, and they can't stop until everything is perfect. Pretty sure that's what's happening here and it never turns out ok.

I agree about A Hat in Time looking awful, but I'm saving judgement on Yooka Laylee until we see a bit more. All we've really seen in terms of gameplay is that barren grassy area which I'm praying is just a test-area.

They've got some good people on the project and the music we've heard so far sounds fantastic. I'm hopeful for it.
