How can anyone literally give a shit about half life 3 anymore? I mean come the fuck on, the first two games were decent, but by no way were they revolutionary. I've played every half life game to date and because its taken so long to release half life 3 interest has plummeted for me.
Even if half life 3 comes to fruition, do you think anyone is really going to buy it? The younger generation has most likely never played half life and in turn don't give a shit about half life 3. Valve killed their own franchise and I'm glad. Because if half life 3 releases, it will flop. Hard. This should be an example that if you wait to long you essentially killed all your previous hard work.
Fuck half life 3 and fuck you fags for wanting a decade old game with a bland and voiceless fucking character.
>Fuck half life 3 and fuck you fags for wanting a decade old game
You're literally the only person talking about this trite, dead shit. Half Life 3 is nothing more than a shitty, dead meme. Stop trying to be edgy.
What did HL1 do that wasn't already done in other FPS' of its time, namely Quake 2, Unreal, and Turok 2?
And what about HL2? Physics? Older games did that shit already, like Jedi Outcast.
I'd love to see HL3 but Valve probably has no idea what they're doing, even with their existing games. They're probably not planning to release it any time soon, and I don't know why they leave teasers about it existing into Dota 2's folder.
Fallout 3 came out in late 2008. New Vegas came out in late 2010. Half-Life 2 came out in 2004. The only reason this generation knows about Half-Life at all is >epic HL3 maymay gaben xD
If anything forced ingame "cutscene" which I cant skip destroys the pacing more. Also cutscenes in FPS were a thing back then, i.e SHOGO and SOF. They werent overly long though.
Gravity gun was legit fun.
>probably first playing it several years after release
Bitch, the modern story driven FPSs with car driving and intermezzos wouldnt happen without HL. Not to mention the pioneering of physics.
It doesnt look original now because all the FPSs just copy HL with better graphics and different story, but the gameplay is essentially the same.
>Even if half life 3 comes to fruition, do you think anyone is really going to buy it?
Yes, they will. Same reason people are paying to see The Glib Facsimile
I would sort of care. The only way I can see HL3 or Portal 3 being interesting is for them to elevate their relative mechanics to a new level.
HL3 gets new wacky gravity or phsyics guns, more weird alien bullshit, combat is still fun, atmosphere is still GOAT
P3 get smore puzzles but actual difficult shit, or time based shit. Stuff that can't be solved by just putting portals in different places. Maybe use portals to manipulate a room to allow for a set up which allows you to access something which changes something else which allows you to move forward. Bigger sense of scale.
Both games need returning characters, and both protags need to be voiceless.
Since I'm somewhat sure Portal 2 ends sometime long after HL3, I feel like Portal 3 should come out first and be about some sort of search for humanity in ruins or some shit and maybe you find a family of surivivors and it ends with that or some lame clichéd shit.
HL3 can be the end, the fight the "going down with a fight" or whatever. "Gordon, you're the will of the people and the determination of humanity." Whatever.
I'd be satisfied if the gameplay innovated some more, kept the interesting shit and was just good. Doesn't need to be GOAT or anything. Just not bad.
Not really. The shotgun, revolver, pulse rifle, crossbow, and especially the gravity gun were quite fun to fuck around with. I replay the series often and I dare say I find HL2 is more engaging.
I agree I feel like 1 was better, but I found running around in HL2 with the crossbow and knocking people lfying with the gravity gun was top fun, man.
Miss my bee gun though.
HL1 didnt invent storytelling in FPS that was more than a backdrop reason for shooting guns. HL1 got more credit than it deserves, mostly for being so popular. HL2 did actually do new things like good physics that was utilized in gameplay and good facial animation.
>I mean come the fuck on,
Thank god that's over.
>the year of the resurgence of catholicism
A man can dream
But that's not norse paganism
>tfw you're jaded and dead inside but you try to be excited for things your 17 year old self would have been excited for 7 years ago
Half Life 3, am I right g-g-guys...?
