I know it's a stretch. But I honestly suggest Onimusha 2 out of all the games it comes the closest of feeling like an old samurai film. Granted with demons.

The Yakuza spinoffs don't really evoke the proper atmosphere, there's this strange tinge to them that makes it feel like you're fucking around in the past with a modern perspective. I agree, the Way of the Samurai games come a little bit closer to what I'm looking for.

But honestly, those were the only two samurai games I could think of where you're actually fighting human opponents.

Yakuza Ishin had perfect chance to be released and revive the series, but Sega decided to fuck west.

Sega decided not to translate Yakuza Ishin because over the years, Yakuza games have not had a lot of interest them in Western countries. It's a very niche game that has more of a demographic in Japan. It's a smart business move. Though lately it seems there's been a boom in interest in Yakuza games lately, judging by the daily threads for it.

Though from the looks of it, I guess it's still very niche alongside other certain game series.
But hey, it seems like with the release of Yakuza 5 we might actually get a chance to play the other Yakuza games that haven't been released in the West yet.

Ishin could have a chance because it was early PS4 game, when people were starving for new games. They could even give it a different name, since it's not story related.

Also Yakuza 0 according to official PlayStation site is going to be 2017 title. By that it took less time to make a whole game than to translate it.
