Is Dark Souls the game of the generation?
>Released on every platform
>Mysterious lore that goes perfectly with the internet, anons arguing over it and people trying to explain it
>Difficult, no handholding
>10/10 meme potential (praise the sun)
>memorable music and bosses, even more so if you dig a little deeper
>perfect blend of action and RPG to appeal to everyone
>Open world (the meme of this generation)

Honestly I can't think of anything that adds up. Sure Ass creed or CoD defines the majority of the generation but Dark Souls is much better than them, and shows good unique qualities.
>trying to clear the area past the seal of Artorias
>have like 16k souls
>keep dying but I'm good at luring the NPCs inside
>on my way to retrieve my bloodstain
>fucking sorcerer lures me right into invisible thief's aggro
It's my secondary/dps/cramped area weapon. My main is the zweihander which my character is now strong enough to wield one-handed. I also have a black knight shield now.
>Tried Dark Souls a few years ago
>could never get past Capra Demon
>drop the game for being trash
>pick it up again a month ago
>finally beat him
>cruise through the rest of the game have a blast
I think Dark Souls is my favorite game of all time now. The only people that hate it didn't stick with it long enough.
Just escape into the sewer and get your regular class weapons. You can the demon hammer from Snuggly the Crow later.
>tfw getting to Tomb of the Giants for the first time
FUCK THOSE LARGE SKELETONS
FUCK TWO OF THEM AT ONCE
FUCK THE DARKNESS THAT NOT EVEN CHANGING THE BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS FIXES
alternatly you could just choose black firebomb for the easy way to get it early. seeing as starter items are pretty trivial it makes sense to do that if you have your heart set on an early hammer (not worth it though)
>the only people that hate it, didn't stick with it long enough
Meaningless blanket statement, of course people who don't like it are going to stop playing relatively early.
I also know a few people who don't like the game much that gave up after Anor Londo. Even the most hardcore fans admit the game gets worse once you pass that point.
>not spending 45 minutes hitting the asylum demon with the broken sword hilt
dark souls had kind of shit lore opposed to demon's and bloodborne, less replayability than either because of the structure and length and least memorable and mechanically interesting bosses, plus it suffers the most from being unfinished
dark souls is an excellent game but it's broader and suited to more common people
