That's the thing though. There's one mine that's repeated with maybe a flipped hallway. You're just searching for chains to pull or levers to pull.
There's one mine design. One tomb to explore but pasted all over.

You can like it, but it's not as great and varied as you think it is.

This

I'm sure people playing it for the first time now get a similar rush but I just can't imagine it's the same. I'll plead guilty to some degree of nostalgiafaggotry regarding wow but it's not JUST that. There just aren't people out in the world as often. The quests hold your hands more than they used to and every bit of map feels way too purposeful. There's no wandering off the beaten path and finding something cool or getting lost trying to finish a quest anymore. And there's no running into fellow adventurers and teaming up. Maybe once in a while but the majority of the people you meet in the wild now are in full heirloom and wouldn't so much as stop to acknowledge your existence, let alone quest or dungeon with you.

Speaking of dungeons, there's no denying how useful LFG is but man it's so much more underwhelming clicking on a button to teleport to an instance you dont' know the backstory of and don't care than it was to trudge halfway across the world with some bros, dodging high level enemies and players and opposite faction members to delve into a new dungeon that various people around the world had given you quests for.

My african american.

Also dwarf fortress.
>>
>>283845931
I totally disagree. The characters are kept humble, nothing fancy or exaggerated. They are just simple people. Nothing wrong with that.
And agin the combat is not auwful at all. The bowshooting is pretty much the best bow shooting in vidya history, you can stealth kill, you can have mounted combat, you can do basically everything imgaineable. It#s just not polished very well, but that's what mods are there for.

The AI is ok. Look at how idiotic the ai in Dark Souls is for example. Enemies can't see 5 metres there. In my game I have enemies who can see me from miles away, recognize it when you use lights in the dark, listen to your footsteps and cloth noises. I even have animals who can smell me according to the wind direction. Who know nothing about this game.

This

Starting up a new game in minecraft, especially a heavily modded game on a server, is a great feeling. I don't get it much out of vanilla but that's mostly thanks to being spoiled by mods.

>nobody knows what a new block/fauna/item does
>that tension of mining before you get good armor when you hear a hissss
>scaling sprawling vistas looking for the perfect plot to build your base
>learning the progression trees for magic and technology as you build and explore

It all kind of comes apart after you reach a certain threshold where you're basically a god, but up till then it's great.

Hijacking this thread

I want games that convey a sense of hugeness and exploration on a real 3D world, not just a massive overworld of 2 dimensions.
SotC in some parts, Grow Home, Super Mario Galaxy, all those games had what I'm talking about - parts where you can look around you and just get sheer vertigo from your height or realize how far away you are from other accessible areas.

Give me games that do THAT.

Monster Hunter feels epic and interesting each new area and monster, it's too bad that each great moment is padded by hours of tedious gathering. Nothing kills the adventure more than being stopped to slap some rocks with a pickaxe until you get that Buttsphere+1 you need for your axe. Now you just need three more buttspheres and a bug you've never heard of and has a 5% gather rate!

Still salty since I love the hunting but don't have time for the in-between retardation.

Yeah, I'm good at standing old game interfaces, mechanics and controls but UW is just clumsy. I don't normally like remakes but UW would be one of those games which could actually benefit from it.

UW had something that made it infinitely more playable than, let's say, daggerfall:

I strongly doubt it. That screenshot itself is a pre-render, and they've stated the game is pushing the Wii U's hardware which we already know is ass. I'm expecting a smaller, flatter Skyrim with 1 mountain so they can say YOU CAN CLIMB IT. Not at all what I'm looking for.

How much of a toaster do you have?
I had a higher-end laptop back in 2011 and was able to run the game flawlessly when it came out in Europe. Dolphin is really optimized.

This is true.

I loved it during the Pre-TBC era, but dropped off it when the first expansion came.
For some based reason I've hated the expansions, but I recently got back into it and I now have 5 expansions of content and really redone mechanics so it's like exploring a new game but with some nostalgic vibes

Any time.
Make sure you download the mods/patches for the better experience.
Also the game has dual audio, but there's no reason not to play with the British voices.
No seriously, they are actually pretty good and pretty much every character sounds better in English with an accent.
>>
>>283852501
I play the game whenever I get depressed and it helps enormously. By the time I've explored the world and defeated the armada and destroyed the Silver Gigas I always feel great.

Until I remember that its a game stuck on aging systems with virtually no hope of a sequel or even an updated port.

I should replay it, I completed it a year and half ago, which took a year to finish in general. It truly was a great game and I'd give anything for a sequel.

Hell, I'd make sure I bought all the shit that I could if there was, even if there was a stupidly expensive deal that just had the game and a figure or something. I'd buy it.

Still, you've always got emulation.

Dark Souls. The feeling of making your way through dangerous isolated areas with only you skills to save you. The relief of finding a bonfire when hope was fading. The elation of fighting a boss and winning.
The lore and gameplay and world building are all fantastic but most importantly you feel like you're on a goddamn quest!

Being abroad is probably easier for an aspie than being in his home country in a way because the locals will just think that most of your spergness comes from the cultural differences and they won't mind it that much, people will also find you interesting simply because you're from another country. It also forces the aspie out of his comfort zone. And it's not like you even have to go to other countries to travel. No excuse etc.

I tend to find that, despite being primarily a JRPG player, WRPGs tend to be better for "adventures". My most recent game completions have been Eien no Filena, SMT4 and Dragon Age: Origins, and of the lot I'd say DA:O was the best. Fantastic game. Shame about the sequels.

Monster Girl Quest and Viewtiful Joe

For me, MGQ was just a little kid and his snake lady pal going on an adventure to beat up his grandma because she hurt snake lady but they end up learning more about themselves through it and I thought that was comfy as hell. Also, the aspect of avoiding being raped and getting stronger for the sake of both of them.

With Viewtiful Joe I was given a goal, defeat king blue by any means nessicary. I saw that and went on a journey through weird ass places and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I've never beaten v-rated or ultra v-rated, I was just too bad at that level of difficulty

Game may be pretty to look at, but doesn't do much in terms of player-set goals or real discovery.
