So, Pokemon Shuffle just released on the 3DS eshop.

What do you guys think of Nintendo making/publishing F2P games with microtransactions on their consoles? Do you think this game will find a market on the 3DS, or will Nintendo fans reject this practice?
>>
>>283808431
Hope it succeeds.
>>
I'll be sure to download it to rate it 1 star.
>>
>>283808431
Hope it burns in hell
>>
>>283808431
Does the retail version of the other 2 puzzledragon games release on the same day?
>>
I played the tutorial. You start out with 5 hearts. One heart means you get one attempt to beat a Pokemon. It takes 30 minuets to replenish a heart, or you can spend real money getting another one right away.

Seems really scummy.

>>
>>283808431
When did Nintendo get so lewd? That Eevee is begging for cock.
>>
What's the pricing model for this game?
What's the gameplay?
>>
>>283808431
I think Nintendo is the only company that straight up says on the store banner "This game has microtransactions", actually using the word.
>>
>>283809408
Candy crush but more jewish somehow.
>>
Eh, its free so I'll check it out. I don't see what''s the problem with micro-transactions. It's not like you have to buy them, there are sometime when it isn't cool (Like when there's a pay to win moment) However, this isn't one of those moments. People don't know what they're talking about and it just makes them look really stupid.
>>
"I hate games that make you pay. I hate micro transactions!. I'm not supporting Nintendo or Gamefreak for this"

No one is "making" you pay. There is no gun to your head forcing you to pay. No one guilt tripping you. No persuasive person. Nothing.
Don't like it? Don't download it.
It's for free, so do you honestly think Nintendo or Gamefreak gives a shit?

All you shit talkers will be back when Pokemon Z(?) is announced.
>>
>>283809408
It's a F2P Match-3 game with microtransactions. You can spend real money to speed up how many battles you get to do or pay to get buffs and do more damage.

Or you can not spend any money and just grind out levels really slowly.
>>
>>283809648
>>283809775

There'll probably be some kind of trainer or save dump/editor. If I care that much I'll do that.
>>
>>283809761
Why the FUCK did they make a Mario Puzzle & Dragons game and not a Pokemon one? It's common sense.
>>
>>283808431
I'm enjoying this game more than AS.
How's battle trozei compared to this?
>>
"Oh boy! A free Pokemon ga-"

"NINTENDO YOU RETARDS, WHERE IS OUR WELL DESERVED POKEMON SNAP SEQUEL!"

I also can't even when people think micro-transactions in a free game is awful. Theres a difference between a $60 game with micro-transactions and a free game where the only micro-transactions is so you don't have to wait 8 minutes to play again.

8 minutes, you basically wasted 3 times that amount just right now.
>>
Don't we already have a pokemon board to isolate the cancer?
>>
>>283810063
It's not even Pokemon. They're just using the Pokemon aesthetic to trick people into thinking the game is worth anything.
>>
>>283809919
They're both fundamentally the same game. This one just has megas and a few changes. I enjoyed Trozei and so far this one isn't bad at all. It's free, I can play it between other games/trips to the toilet and completely ignore the microtransactions because paying 2 win at a game like this is pretty damn cancerous.

By the way, the tutorial battles eat up hearts. So you have to wait 2 hours and 30 minuets for the hearts the game forced you to use replenishes.

>>
Typical garbage that you get when you let TPC lay their dirty fingers on Pokemon.
If people are smart (they're not) they'll realize how scummy this is and value based GF more.
>>
30 minute per level attempt doesn't sounds bad compared to the average mobage

having to pay to get a guaranteed catch does sounds like bullshit though... can coins be gained in any other way?
>>
>>283811842
You get coins every level and for streetpasses I think.

And they give you a free jewel after every ten levels.

And the even they have on gives you 1000 coins for beating it the first time.
>>
>Shuffle takes out a life even when you win

Even fucking Candy Crush doesn't do that.
>>
I usually hate F2P garbage but this actually looks pretty great. I think the 3DS controls are a big reason why though, I hate touch screens but with a stylus it's much better.
>>
>>283812416
>I hate touch screens but with a stylus it's much better.
Use a cotton swab.
>>
for comparison puzzle & dragons (the mobile version) has a stamina system where 1 stamina is equal to 5 minutes

all of the final levels cost 50 stamina (4 hours and 10 minute of waiting) which is waaaaay worse than 30 minutes

honestly i can play these game because i think of them as more arcade experience, stamina system are a way to control how much the player can play in the same way adding 5 credits to an arcade machine would be, many of them have a continue system where you pay your continue with the premium currency, if you are good at it you don't need to continue

as i said i see a bigger problem with introducing drop rate that can be improved by buying items, now that's stupid as fuck
>>
>>283808431
>bejeweled, pokemon edition
no thanks, please don't post about this again.
>>
>>283808431
it gives kids who might otherwise not be able to afford full games something to play. it also doesn't seem like one of those iphone games where you pretty much have to pay to have any fun or get anywhere.
as long as they keep rolling out normal games too, i don't see the issue.

according to
>>283809123
you only have to wait 30 minutes between tries after you run out. just go do something else.
>>
>>283813674
Also, the hearts only stack up to 5 if you wait. So it's constantly a waiting game.

10 minuets to use 5 hearts.

2 and a half hours to get 5 more.
>>
>>283813674
that 30 minutes is a very low chance to catch a pokemon, after the tutorial unless you're paying money to catch pokemon you're gonna be spending several hearts to catch one.
>>
>>283813887
>>283813889
So you can only play it in short bursts for free?
Still not seeing the issue, since if you are patient, you can still play the whole game, there's nothing locked away you have to pay for.
Just buy battle trozei if you want to play for long periods of time.
>>
(posted it in the wrong thread...)

Just started playing to see what this shit's all about (gee, thanks for taking my hearts away for the TUTORIAL)...why is Bulbasaur just marked pure grass type? Are there no dual types in this game? Do the different types do different stuff once they're caught or something?

Just played it.
Was fun. Ran out of hearts, wasting the last one on Mew.
If you aren't a retard and know how to make a simple decision to not spend money on something you don't want to, then "muh microtransactions" become a non-issue.
>>
>>283810884

Standard freemium tactic.

>We'll give you some premium currency to start you off. Why don't we teach you how to use it now? Spend 100 of your 400 megadiamonds!"
>>
>>283816096
I think upgrading to a Great Ball is a bit expensive coin-wise, but you don't really need to anyway.

I can't fucking even beat Mew though, even with Mega Audino.
>>
>Not even Microsoft has resorted to this type of jweish behavior yet
>Still people defend Nintendo

If you don't like the saying "It's okay when nintendo does it", stop acting like blind twats.
>>
>>283816129
>Why don't we teach you how to use it now?
No, all that happens is the girl says "I heard that you could buy more jewels with your eShop funds." and that's all she says about it.
>>
>>283808431
How does this compare to battle trozei?
>>
>>283816349
Really?
Only requires aiming for 4+ combos, then Mega Audino pretty much does the rest of the work for you.
Though I did cheat a little and used the +5 move item.
>>
>>283816361
At least online is still free.
>>
Pay model seems pretty scummy/annoying so I'm avoiding it. Shame because I might have enjoyed it.
>>
>>283816476

Oh, okay. I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, but that's usually how freemium games go.
>>
>>283816728
And that's great, for both the games that use it across the 3DS and WiiU.
>>
>>283816779
>>283816731
>Seems scummy
Just try the fucking thing. I was going to ignore it too, but I'm not letting /v/ make me hate something.

The game doesn't even require you give it money, it showers you with free shit to begin with.

You don't have to spend a cent if you don't want to, and the game is fun as fuck. The "spending money" thing is mentioned in one sentence in passing, and the game doesn't even teach you how to access the MONEY store, just the in-game money shop.
>>
i don't understand why nintendo doesn't want to release this for smartphones. people would eat that shit up. unless nintendo's next handheld will be a smartphone it makes no sense to me.
>>
If Trozei wasn't garbage, I'd try it. I love gacha-style freemium games. Paying to guarantee a catch also seems like a good idea, I never really pay money to roll a gacha since there's no guarantee I'll get what I want.
>>
>>283817000
>but I'm not letting /v/ make me hate something.
This has nothing to do with "what /v/ says" - my own determination is that the pay model seems scummy and annoying to deal with if I actually like the game.
>>
>>283817016
>why nintendo doesn't want
It's not really Nintendo's decision, it's Pokemon Company's/GameFreak's.

It wouldn't surprise me if this does hit phones eventually.

My line of reasoning was because Trozei isn't worth it, might as well get the free version of it.
>>283817143
It kind of does have to do with "what /v/ says" if you haven't even opened the game to see how it works, and are only going on hearsay.
>>
So has anyone else downloaded this and found it's in Japanese? I have no idea why.
>>
>>283817143
>seems scummy and annoying to deal with
Explain this to me, please. Have you tried the game to know what you're talking about?

>Beat 10 stages
>Game gives you a free 5 battles
>Beat Legendary Pokemon or Boss Pokemon
>Game gives you free in-game coins
>Tutorial takes hearts, but girl gives you a free jewel for 5 battles

You don't have to spend a damn penny.
>>
>>283816349
>I can't fucking even beat Mew

Do a few more of the regular stages, stage 13 gets you Purrloin who'll do double damage because its dark type and then use the +5 moves powerup using some of your coins.

You'll want to do really well against Mew with a lot of turns remaining so you have a decent shot(20-30%) at catching it, only "just" beating it means you'll have very little chance.
>>
>>283817334
Yes, it's all about what /v/ says (because /v/ is so reliable?), I can't possible have arrived at this conclusion based on raw facts about the game's payment model that I've learned through Nintendo Directs, media outlets, and direct hands-on impressions.
>>
Can someone explain to me why I am not allowed to have streetpass active for this game...?
Is there a maximum of supported games that do streetpass or something?
>>
>>283817570
>Is there a maximum of supported games that do streetpass or something?
Oddly enough, yes. I found this out when I got Alpha Sapphire. You can only have so many games using Streetpass at one time, you have to go remove some, probably games you don't touch anymore.
>>
>>283817570
You can only have 12 games activated with streetpass at once. Go into your data management settings to remove ones you don't use.
>>
>>283817305

>>

Is there at least an option to mitigate the microtransactions entirely by paying a base price to unlock unlimited attempts or something?

I see some freemium games do that, but no it probably wouldn't make money and we can't have that now can we?

>>
>>283820183
Exactly. They trick you into thinking you can play all you want, but then after giving you some freebies they put up a barrier.

By then, they're hoping you've already been hooked and that you'll spend some real money.
>>
This game is actually pretty fun
>>
>>283809658
The thing that's wrong with microtransactions is when they make money and then they're in every game. With how many games copy each other in the industry and with Candy Crush Saga making $1 billion in revenue last year how long before this becomes more of a thing in every game?
>>
>>283819441
>>283819545

Okay, you get more hearts by just having the system in sleep mode. Thought it would be like Bravely Default where you had to be ingame to get those za warudo points. Just putting it out there.
>>
It's a pretty thoughtless puzzle game where you just keep playing to improve your odds, and have to wait another half hour just to play again.

There's no doubt that progressively it'll just get tougher and tougher until there's no enjoyment to be had unless you pony up for prospective upgrades.
Seems like you only get coins for buying items on certain occasions, like every 10th stage, and once a day by checking in for updates and 500 coins.

Honestly it's not a terrific game that warrants putting effort into it. Outside of the business model the game is decently enjoyable, but too basic for any adult to enjoy, and too pay to win that kids should play something like that.

I'm gonna play the game for the hour necessary to rate it on the eShop, send a message to Nintendo.
>>
>>283820925
It is, I just wish I could play it more without having to wait for so long.

The waiting/microtransactions should've only had an affect on catching Pokemon. Like, you have a higher chance of catching one if you have more hearts, instead of having to spend hearts to play at all.
>>
>>283820986

So the system has to be on?
>>
As long as they don't mess with major releases I don't really give a fuck.
