In MH3U the village quests turned into HR at 6-star. In MH4U does the same thing happen? I've read conflicting results regarding the way the new game handles this.

Is MH4G easier than 3U, or am I just better? Every new monster in 3U took me around twenty minutes. There hasn't been a single one that's taken more than fifteen, and I'm almost to High Rank.

How can I make expeditions easier? It leveled too far up that things are smashing me now.

I heard about 'canceling a quest' or something on some forum but expeditions aren't quests? I don't understand.

I've found this game to be tougher than both 3U and FU...but only in killing time duration. I haven't really carted much.

So, how do rustshards work?

I mine one, and at the end of the quest they turn into piece of shit base weapons of the type that I don't use.

Why are they treasured? Am I doing it wrong?

Rustshards have a chance on appraisal to because a Rusted weapon.

Rusted weapons then can be upgraded into some pretty bitchin' weapons. I think rusted goes into Kushala Daora or normal Rusted weapons.

HR and G get Ancientshards, which work the same way except become Worn weapons or Teostra Weapons.

With glorious Teo Del Sol being the best looking weapon ever.

Doesn't feel like it. I usually use SwAxe againse him and it's just a big "RAPE MY FACE IN. OH MY GOD GIVE ME ALL OF YOUR RAPE" sign. I usually spam sword until I literally can't anymore and then I just chain stamina slashes over and over. It's a huge damage dump. I kill him in less than 5 minutes offline and online.

I just open the map, see what the monster/treasure/rarity is and do it. I don't know anything about seeing quests or doing free hunt.

So you do that, the monsters don't get harder everytime you do it.

You gain quests sometimes when you beat monsters, you do them quests in the guild and you can level them up.

They're not the same as the monsters or the quest that you did, every time you pick up a shiny or defeat a monster it gives you a chance at getting a quest, it's almost random what the quest is. The large monster is determined by what you just beat, not sure what monsters get you what.

Offline expedition is village difficult (There's online expeditions? Do you mean Online guild quests?)

I'm almost in the same boat. And I must say Kut-Ku was surprisingly frustrating. It felt like they've sped it up, maybe tightened the hitboxes, but left the fight rather unrefined. It does tailspin/rush you without any tells and it was really annoying, although I'm still using that starting armor with 1 defense.

When is going online okay? Like around what weapon stages?

I've never played with randoms, only with friends in FU and 3rd. So I like to think I know what I'm doing, I just want to make sure I'm doing some form of significant damage.

It seems like its hard to know when to capture it so people just ended up killing the monster causing the mission to fail. Anyone else have this problem? I dont have any friends to play online with so have to rely on PUG.

Take a shock and pitfall trap with you since you can only take one of each. Load up on Tranq bombs.

When the monster is limping, you can use the trap on it and pelt it twice with tranq bombs to complete the quest.

When it's immediately limping try not to use the trap right away as it'll probably retreat to another zone. The BEST time to lay traps is when they're asleep after retreating as they'll activate it without even moving.

Remember that some monsters are immune to certain traps. Gypceros is immune to shock traps for example.

Well, randoming it up is quite dangerous with capture quests, but the general concept is to hit the monster till it limps or someone with capture guru says something or start pinging like mad.

Once you get a good handle on how much health monsters have and how much damage a player can do, you'll be better able to predict when a monster is capture ready.

After a while you start to get a feel of when you can capture it due to how much time as passed.

You could always make capture armor like Nescylla. Paintballing the monster will show it on the map, and with that armor it'll flash white when it is captureable. Support cats also have this skill.

that early in the game just get whatever looks cool or has the most defense. Tetsu for example gets you maxed out health with a single vitality gem and defense up S which will help you survive shit

I run with a Velociprey HR armor right now, I can kill HR monsters really fast, also has Psychic so you can track them down easily. Might be irrelevant once I remember all the monster positions on the map, but for now it speeds up my runs considerably.

Honestly, Earplugs is the only one I would consider a must, even if I don't have it right now. I used to run with a Najarala set and it was quite nice.
