>>283687654 Can we really say that little gameplay is a bad thing? if anything, it makes the game less interactive which is a good thing. This is a story driven game, if you were to lose during the gameplay segments that would ruin the pace of the story
Remember when Aliens Colon Marines came out and everyone bitched about how you mostly fought humans and not aliens? Why is the length overshadowing the same problem here. Like 80% or more of the game's combat is fighting fucking humans
>>283687827 >Can we really say that little gameplay is a bad thing? It certainly is when the story is rejected supernatural action movie bullshit. It's not even fun to watch. Extremely dry, takes itself way too seriously, and the characters are too flat to care about when something "big" happens to them.
>>283689043 How did you know? Did you also find out that YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A WEREWOLF. YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A WEREWOLF. YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A WEREWOLF. YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A WEREWOLF. YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A WEREWOLF. YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A WEREWOLF.
I'm going to buy it because it looks like a game I'll enjoy even if it turns out to be fairly short.
I have to say though, buying games on release is becoming less and less appealing because I'm being continually disappointed. If I could go back I wouldn't have bought evolve, or a lot of games Ive bought day one for that matter.
The order & bloodborne are the last two I'm getting day one, maybe the witcher 3, from then on I'm waiting for online reactions to every game, I can't keep wasting £45 a time for disappointment.
>>283688083 But...I saw the whole thing. The only thing that was missing was a small cutscene in the airship level. And I already saw that on IGN.
He wasn't even rushing through it. He died multiple times. It probably wouldn't take him much longer to find all the collectibles as the levels are basically corridors with a bunch of beautiful boxes everywhere.
>>283687827 You are seriously defending a $60 movie? No, I'm not being some faggot baiter. It has been shown that most of the game is nothing but cutscenes. And you say this is a good thing? You buy a game to play it, you do not buy a game to watch it happen. "Oh yeah I can't wait to watch myself kill this enemy." I'm pretty sure you were one of those faggots who think Skyrim has too much gameplay.
>>283689481 It's not just "a movie" it's an interactive movie which is far more original than a generic shooter or a generic 2D platformer or a generic RPG at least these devs want to try something new and original, that defies the outdated belief that video games need lots of gameplay
>>283689737 Oh boy! I can't wait to watch a movie with buttons! I am happy to spend $60 on that! And that story? Damn, it totally isn't full of cliches and shitty grimdark elements. Sure sounds fun! While I'm at it, I'll go fuck a raccoon and marry twelve trees in Jamaica.
>>283689353 Please do not support movies in guise of games. It'll encourage people to keep doing it.
>>283689737 >It's not just "a movie" it's an interactive movie which is far more original than- No. Get out. You're encouraging people to ignore the strengths of this genre by leaching off the strengths of another. Games are not film. They don't need to be film. There are better ways to use games as a story telling genre than cutscenes peppered with generic gunplay and QTE's in the middle.
>>283690985 I am ok with QTEs, and I have no issue at all with the reviewer marking the game down because of them. But I find it odd that they lump QTE and cutscenes together in terms of game time. QTEs are gameplay so should not be added to cutscenes to differentiate active vs passive time in a game. That you don't like QTEs is not a reason to equate them with cut scenes. 7hrs long is short. That's the sort of game length you come to expect from a fps that considers its principal game mode to be MP. Glad it's not the 5 hours being trolled on the internet, but still disappointing that a reviewer got through the game in 7. 7.5 is a decent score and the pros are not just about visuals.
This is completely unrelated to the game, but is related to werewolves: in the Elder Scrolls, are there different breeds of werewolves, like there are vampires (cyrodillac are the most powerful, Skyrim vamps are whatever)?
>Console games used to look okay, not great, but okay >Ran at a good frame rate >Started to look less and less impressive vs PCs >Last generator looked incredibly blurry because TVs were becoming much larger than a consoles resolution >Now we are seeing black borders in new titles >Blue, a low frame rate, no AA, now black borders How the fuck do console players keep eating this shit? Serious fucking question, the games are not even that good. Most of them are just fucking movies.
No wonder people still defend Nintendo so hard, at least their games are games, and not pushed in a 15fps black bordered blurry screen.
>>283693480 To be honest, the actual game feels quite good when you have full control over characters. Guns feel great in your hands, people die fast and it's pretty much the most average third person shooter possible, it's not as bad to call it clunky or terrible. Just nothing impressive.
>>283692357 But normies love MP. Gears of War had MP. How many shooters survived the last gen without MP? Well...I guess The Last of Us...but I feel like that was riding the zombie/post-apocalypse wave.
>>283694762 Maybe this is a test by Sorny to see if they can get away with no tacked on multiplayer. TBH tacked on multi is kind of old hat. I mean if the Order actually had multi, it'd probably be dead in like a month or so anyway
Quick personal review as I just finished the game myself:
+Took me 5 hours 45 minutes (Med difficulty) +Very well put together game. That is movement and controls are crisp, character movement feels good and camera direction is great. +Very, very polished. +Actual decent variety of content, for what is there.
-Goofy story, but serviceable. -QTEs. Prob one of the better handled systems, but its just just not a good system for video games. -Just not worth $60.
Overall, pretty damn good game for RaD's first try and actually makes me look forward to their future projects however this doesn't exactly make The Order itself a better game. I hope they take criticisms to heart for their next game.
I'm fuckin hyped! Preordered two copies one for a friend and I. thinking about picking up two more one to keep in a protective sleeve and one for myself. I'm tired of everyone always shitting on this game. It's only 5 hours who fucking cares. It'll be the best 5 hours in video games recently. Those graphics are ground breaking and so is the story telling. It's a story heavy game? well so is uncharted and the last of us. And those sold millions of copies. If you're reading this and on the fence I say grab a copy or two you wont regret it all the haters will be pissed when this game gets awards all year and perfect 10s on most review sites. To answer your question yes I'm hyped. Greatness awaits friday, and its fucking coming!
They should've hired me on as a tiny programmin' polisher for this game. I would've just added a scoring system and a "raid mode" and that would've been a simple change to help give the game a bit more value.
>>283695607 >Very well put together game. That is movement and controls are crisp, character movement feels good and camera direction is great. How is this a positive? Controls functioning is to be expected.
>Overall, pretty damn good game for RaD's first try How is this at all a good first try? It does everything a video game could possibly do wrong beyond looking pretty.
>>283687501 seens that the story mode is like 6h long, i can stand almost everything in a game but a short story. I was going to buy it tomorrow, won't anymore, now I'll probably play this only when they kind of give it to me.
>>283690647 Yeah well, Sony's never led me astray. Back when I was suicidal it was Sony's Uncharted that managed to pull me out of my funk. I seriously owe Sony for saving my life so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
