It's been years since I had these many hours of mindless fun with a single title (not counting multiplayer games/online).
So what was your GOTY 2014?
Teleporting explosive barrels onto everything is too fun
>3/4 of the game's main missions are just tutorials for the nemesis system or following Golem
>Sauron is a QTE
I didn't even have high hopes for this game but that shit left a sour taste in my mouth. It was a good game that looks great compared to most of the trash released in 2014.
Mordor was pretty fun, best title that wasn't on a Nintendo console. Which isn't saying too much given the other major games last year.
But there felt like too few meaningful main mission scenarios, and the Tower and Black Hand "boss fights" were complete downers to end the game with
Also, while I do find the Arkham Asylum combat fun still, I wish they'd add some sort of difficulty to countering, feels too mindless.
How did you not get bored with it 2 hours in?
I went to some orc base and fought some of them. Then I went to a couple others and fought some of them (and sneaked through a few).
Then I got bored and quit.
The side shit was a nice touch, especially the dagger missions that made you use stealth. I liked the gameplay a lot, but the nemesis system was so ambitious it kind of overwhelmed everything else.
Out of the games that actually came out last year that I played, this gave me the most playtime and enjoyment. Not saying that it's spectacular.
I also liked Destiny when playing with friends.
(P.T. is genuinely the best thing I played that came from last year, however it's just a demo so it doesn't really count.)
>it's one of the best combat systems
Dude that shit was empty as fuck.
This guy is an insufferable prick. Every game has some cheesy bullshit that you can use to ruin the game. Personally, I thought the combat was very satisfying. It was like a better version of Dynasty Warriors combat.
I'm not sure what he was expecting.
The memes and humor were fucking awful, but, god dammit, that game plays like you always wished Jet Set Radio played. It's amazing. If a new Jet Set Radio game were made with the movement system of Sunset Overdrive, videogames would actually be finished.
I dont understand how most people on /v/ can fucking love the batman games but turn around and shit on Shadow of Mordor which is essentially the same combat system slapped on top of gore and a cool system.
I really really liked both the arkham series and som
Yeah, stick of truth came out less than a year ago. IT would have been better, but it was just so clunky navigating through the menus and shit. God, if only they cleaned that game up a bit it could be close to GOTY.
Mordor really did get more hate than it deserved. There was a lot of fun to be had in this game.
I LOVED DESTINY
All I really want out of my shooters is horde mode shenanigans and co-op alien killing with my bros and Destiny scratched that itch
Sadly Bungie really dropped the ball on match-making by only putting it on Strikes. I'd still be playing that shit if they had match making on campaign levels or raids or what have you
Shame about the COD clone pvp though
It was pretty much universally praised. The main criticisms seemed to be that it was too easy and the story was a little generic. Hopefully they'll work on that for the inevitable sequel.
