PoE got rated Mature
>Content Descriptors: Blood, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Violence
>Rating Summary: This is a role-playing game in which players assume the roles of heroes exploring a fantasy world. From a ¾-overhead perspective, players traverse dungeons/crypts, interact with different characters, and engage in various quests. Players use swords, axes, and magic spells to kill human enemies and fantastical creatures (e.g., dragons, trolls, ogres). Battles are accompanied by slashing impact sounds and frequent blood-splatter effects. Some levels depict chamber floors covered in large pools of blood. During the course of the game, players can interact and purchase services from a prostitute—no sexual act is ever depicted. The dialogue can also reference sexual material (e.g., “The prostitute holds her hips, thrusting her chest forward as you come near her” and “But if he spreads a rumor that her lover has just visited a brothel and acquired a pox on his loins, she'll end it on her own.'). The word “f**k” appears in dialogue.
So no romances but you can fuck diseased whores.
>Implying just because it rated Mature that means the game will be mature
This is the magic of not having to listen to a publisher pushing for every game to get a Teen rating.
Nobody gives a shit about those ratings anymore anyway, since it's all bought digitally and digital stores don't check if little Johnny is old enough to see half a naked tit yet.
Maybe with mods.
Obsidian mentioned that it'll be extremely hard for modders to create new maps because of the complex way they're put together, but since everything is done in text anyway it should be easy to write in some dragon-fucking scenes.
Pillars of Eternity =/= PoE
We already have a PoE.
A good start to a year. PoE coming out next month, and hopefully Serpent in the staglands soon, too.
>Literally no one abbreviates Armored Core because no one talks about it because dead as fuck.
beta if anyones interested
>Literally no one abbreviates Armored Core because no one talks about it because dead as fuck.
Well then calling pillars of eternity PoE is fine since path of exile is also dead as fuck so that frees up the PoE aberration.
Enjoy your desync, the best feature in gaming since press x to awesome.
>this game will be shit because SJW Anita buzzwords buzzwords!
>can you prove that in any way?
>lol no why don't you just believe an anonymous guy getting mad on the internet?
I don't really care if there is or isn't romance in this game, however I do hope there is good character interaction in this game for party members. I really don't enjoy RPGs that have party members suddenly engage conversation with slice of life dialog when I'm a hostile dungeon.
Some of the Baldur's Gate characters annoyed me because of this.
Considering pre-determined companion characters are entirely replaceable with your custom-made mercenary hires I imagine they won't be annoying with their OH SO IMPORTANT personal stories intruding on your business all the time.
Companion characters will pipe up with the personal bullshit from time to time, so you can just boot them and use mercenaries instead if that annoys you.
Mercs have the added advantage of being fully customizable just like your main character, but they don't have personal quests so that's at least one reason to check out the companions.
Dunno, from the stuff they showed at the panel there was significant interaction with your party members. Not sure how it works with the custom ones though, maybe you get to pick which dialogue choices and quests and shit they have?
>tfw pasta becomes so stale you can't even pretend that you're offended
Yeah that is cool a feature, but I really just hope they nail it with character interactions. I mean all they really have to do is have the characters say some open world dialog once with it being on topic with what we are doing or just make a small comment about the area we are in. Only when we are at base or in a town, I don't really mind if they engage in conversation that stops me from moving if the discussion with is said character isn't retarded.
>supporting a game project that is just meant to be a LGBT soapbox by some maniac who runs around the office screaming at everyone about how white straight males need to be genocided.
What the hell are you talking about you bitch faggot
The lead of PoE is a fucking maniac who yells at his employees about LGBT rights in a fucking shitty nostalgia RPG.
Read this entire thread thinking "Pillars of Eternity" was some new expansion for Path of Exile that just got announced and i got hyped as fuck. God damnit im disappoint
I don't understand the classes in this game
Rogues aren't sneaky thieves and are supposed to be frontline skirmishers but as far as I can tell they seem worthless in direct battle, wizards get more powerful from the 'might' state which means the most powerful wizards are all gonna be roided the fuck out and barbarians get power from intellect??
The entire setting of PoE and plot is a SJW fantasy. Stuff like a black people enslaving white people is a key plot element. Every SJW and LGBT argument including colonization is thrown into this game's plot. It's entirely about "social justice" and making a fun or interesting plot second.
Basically in order of importance
1. Social Justice
2. Making an RPG
3. Fantasy or original setting
Like literally the entire plot, setting, races, and structure of the game is meant to push his SJW ideas.
>there are people in this thread that gave money to Privileged of Equality
>play a medieval fantasy rpg
>oh cool, elves and shit this will be fun
>tranny black woman rights quest
>sexual objectification is bad quest
oh gee sure is fun on this SJW ride.
what about magic and shit? Nope, it's all fucking modern SJW tumblr issues.
I understand now:
Rogues are triggering, because they have sthealth and kill you fast, so they are completely gimped for their previous privilege.
Wizards are str based because in the past, stupid buffed up guys couldn't be magicians. The privilege is over.
Barbarians now become progressively more intellectual because the pen is stronger than the sword, so squalid barbarians stop being oppressed.
>most technologically advanced
>literally added to the game for social justice reasons
you act like the driving force behind the writing and world building wasn't LF and social justice.
There are people in this thread who think this is a fantasy RPG and not a leftist soapbox game
these are the main focus of the plot.
"They're also pretty closed-minded about animancy, ciphers, and a lot of the new breakthroughs in understanding mortal souls that have been discovered in the Dyrwood and Vailian Republics. "
Hint. animancy/cipher is proxy for tranny
>These fucking names
Imagine how embarrassed the VAs must've been pronouncing this shit
yeah it's some of the worst world building ever. The setting is extremely dry.
Most "nations" or whatever are just like a mish mosh of random historical societies. AKA black victorians with slaves and city states or some other cliche mish mash.
Basically you just take a simple rng of common society tropes and mix them together to get all the nations or sides.
It's pretty fucking basic and shit compared to the fantasy settings people are making these days. It's really bad but can't expect much from a simple D&D reskin.
It's not like anyone cares about age ratings anyway.
But the game is looking pretty good right now. 2014 was already a pretty decent year for RPGs, looks like 2015 is going to be even better.
>Tagged skills are Stealth and Mechanics
>not like every other rogue
You sure are stupid. Have you played the beta, or are you spouting shit you heard from randos on 4chan?
I love these portraits. They have a very Icewind Dale-like feel to them.
Only Sawyer fucking said initially Rogues in this game weren't supposed to be sneakthiefs and pickpockets and were supposed to be brutal skirmishers focused on DPS who fight dirty, looks like he fucked up yet again.
Besides, isn't a skirmisher someone who weaves into battle and then jumps out when the going gets tough? Isn't that what a rogue is?
>Rogues in PE aren't "Oi Govna" street urchins who pick pockets as their main profession. They're skirmishers and opportunistic killers (whether soldiers or actual thugs/assassins) in the vein of Bronn.[note: A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones character]
>someone who weaves into battle and then jumps out when the going gets tough?
Too bad you can't do that in this game because muh disengagement where moving a single pixel will get you killed
I think they're adding more. They made a post in one of the forums asking players what class/race combos were missing. They're also going to add portraits with helmets or hoods that conceal their faces.
The rogue has an ability where they literally teleport away in a poof of dust, breaking engagement. Please play the game before you post stupid shit, mate.
>Obsidiots on /v/ getting more buttblasted about the game's shortcomings than the actual backers on the Obsidian forums who have been tearing the shit out of the game for months
When did /v/ go wrong?
>all these people who hate engagement and attacks of opportunity
The lack of D&D players is disturbing.
>mfw I start playing at the end of March
It wasn't in the IE games , you know the games this one marketed itself as the spiritual successor of. Long time IE players find the entire mechanic bugged and offputting. There's already a mod to turn it off. The game isn't even out yet and already people are fixing Obsidian's mistakes.
Pillars of Eternity will be shit.
>Operating system: Windows XP or greater, Video Card: Model Shader 3 Compatible Video Card, 512 MB or better, Processor: 2.6 GHz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor, RAM: 4GB RAM, Hard Drive: 25 GB Hard Drive Space
They've been trying their best to support 32-bit systems but there might be some problems, like every other Unity game.
Cant believe i just watched 15mins of gameplay thinking its gonna get better.
This has been done 100x better for current times with divinity original sin.
Anyone who plays this is a nostalgiafag because everyone else can cpearly see that its just a shit game all over.
He only appeal are the visuals for oldfags who want to pretend theyre 14 again.
So send your fighter or paladin in after the rogue escapes. If the fighter is engaged, use knockdown on whatever he's fighting and then move him in. Use tactics.
There's a reason why engagement existed in D&D. It gives frontline characters like Fighters something to do because it allows them to block enemies from getting to the squishier ranged weapons users and spellcasters. I don't know why you think it's such a horrible thing.
>Game is full of trash mobs
>No XP for kills
>They have a very Icewind Dale-like feel to them.
Some of them do, but they're not really consistent. I wish Justin Sweet was doing them all.
I was talking more about the colors and the painting-like style of it all.
Is Justin still working for Obsidian?
Real-time with pause directly translates to "pause at every conceivable moment to set up your abilities." The equivalent of turn-based except you queue up all your moves at once. Terrible and clunky.
D&D is not dated as fuck because it's a tabletop game. Moreover, it's TURN-BASED, making it fucking baffling as to why every D&D game insists on being pause-based.
He's trying to say the brush strokes and colors are very IWD-ish to which I agree. PoE's portraits look literally like a combination of IWD's and BG's.
As someone who has played through Div:OS on hard, the combat is nothing to write home about.
There is just too much imbalanced shit and combat is super stale because of it. There is very little reason to deviate from the same tried and true tactics and builds that you will be using the whole way through.
It's not turn based because everything happens simultaneously when you're not paused. It's not all that different from real time tactics where you have the benefit of issuing orders while paused because they're not trying to test your reflexes.
>Moreover, it's TURN-BASED, making it fucking baffling as to why every D&D game insists on being pause-based.
Literally just wider appeal and because IE games did it. Go back to older D&D games, they were all turn-based.
>playing pillars of equality beta
>see female barbarian npc standing on the road
>forced into dialogue with her
>ask for a quest
>"you think i need help just because i'm a woman?"
>suddenly enter combat
>get killed in two hits
>"ohoho, patriarchy not so strong now?"
>reload, try again
>get killed in two hits
>reload, enable console, enable god mode
>still killed in two hits
>game is literally scripted to force me to lose to the strong independent womyn
>reload, avoid asking for a quest
>a developer's note appears and commends me for checking my privilege
>Is Justin still working for Obsidian?
I don't think he ever did officially, but he freelanced. IWD portraits were the shit.
I like the monks in this game because once you get enough wounds and get the feat that gives you 5% fire damage per wound, you fuck shit up. Especially if you combine it with the skill that boosts your attack speed.
It's a joke, lad.
>wizards use wands and rods instead of staffs
Dark Sun games are probably two of the most unjustly overlooked D&D games simply because they came out during an awkward transitional period for CRPGs. Had they received IE visual treatment they would be venerated as classics today.
>Citzal's Martial Power – Caster temporarily sacrifices arcane power for martial might. Wizard gains bonuses to Deflection, Accuracy, Might, Constitution and Dexterity, but becomes unable to cast spells or switch grimoires for the duration of the spell.
Embrace the magical gains, brah.
Sawyer's obsession with muscle wizards being a viable build out of the box (by which I mean you don't have to think about the build nor optimize it, just pump up strength) is obscenely retarded.
Ropekid who works at Obsidian as a writer is a notorious SJW
Which is why you saw all those shitty references to Something Awful memes in New Vegas
I'm not gonna hold my breath on Pillars of Eternity, but just be prepared.
Neat. I have already played a Blunderbuss Rogue in the beta and it was pretty devastating, but I hadn't considered maxing out on weapon sets to avoid the slow as fuck reload on Blunderbusses.
He was originally but then they decided it was more important for a tank/defender role to be fulfilled by a companion instead of a somewhat-higher-maintenance squishy DPS class..
Go pull a rabbit out of your ass
>should have gone for turn-based
>calls rtwp antiquated
If you enable Wild Wasteland, you'll find 4 balls on the edge of a cliff, which refers to that one game called Zybourne Clock that was pitched and made fun of, and the unique gauss rifle is named after Your Console Sucks, which was like Games but you could say fag and nigger.
