Not gonna lie, I was pretty shit at Jak 2, but this escort mission pissed me off the most. Made me take a few days off from playing it after doing the mission a bunch of times.
Also that one Sonic stage on the Ark Colony that takes around 10 minutes and has you reversing gravity and shit

Boggly Woods, Chapter 4, the beginning island part of Chapter 5, Running through Hooktail Castle numerous times for side quests, including getting Ms. Mowz and getting the 2nd upgrade for Partners, and the search for General White are the things that immediately pop up in my head. Admittingly, the only thing that annoyed me with my first playthrough is Boggly Woods. Subsequent playthroughs however have really showed that there is a lot of backtracking, and without a way to immediately go back to Rogueport, it was really annoying to do.
Still solid gameplay and fun to play through, but it is annoying that it has to rely on backtracking so much.

I actually got through it surprisingly quickly on my second run, but I still remember that first time. Holy shit, did it feel like it was just continuing on forever. It's not even really that hard, it's just slow and tedious.
I think in general getting the boat and having the whole world opened up to you made it confusing where you were supposed to go. Still kind of nice that you could explore at your leisure.

Rusty Bucket Bay wasn't the easiest place to navigate, but it wasn't so hard that I hated it. I actually kind of enjoyed the challenge. As for Click Clock Wood, I like it on the virtue that I finally could get to it. You know that feeling when you've been staring at something which is so close, yet so far away? As a kid I used to try over and over again to get into that level, it was driving me crazy that I couldn't just jump up and get in there. Just being in Click Clock Woods felt orgasmic.
Yeah, they were some of the best around. I really didn't appreciate them enough at the time. Hindsight is always 20/20.
The difficulty spike was completely unexpected.
My brother and I were doing a co-op playthrough and got so stuck on this we ended up looking at a walkthrough for the first and only time ever on a game we played together.

I was just a little guy so I had no experience with RPGs. Around 8 or 9 I believe. Took me a long fucking time to beat it, given how inexperienced I was.

Ah i was maybe 11 or 12. I had only started getting into Zelda and RPGs so playing it was an extremely pleasant surprise. A few years ago, I emulated Soul Blazer and Terranigma. Some of the best experiences I had in games.
Yeah had to grind just a tad for this one, the area before this fight made it easier to grind for XP tho.

came back to it the next day, and did after a couple tries. now i dont have any trouble with that part.
its easier to take it slow and backtrack if necessary. so much easier than just trying to go straight up as fast as you can.
I like the Deep Roads overall, just not the layout of that part specifically. There's so much backtracking involved if you want to find everything for some side quests like the one where you find the hidden cache, Asunder and Topsider's Honnor
Pic related was also really difficult all the way through, if your definition of difficult is 'you have to farm for two hours every time you get to a new area'.

Replayed it the other day on the Trilogy collection. The mines themselves weren't bad (although fighting nothing but Pirates and constantly having to switch beams was tedious), but fuck that one gap where you have to jump toward a moving zoomer to grapple onto it, then swing half a mile to a mushroom. And if you miss, you HALF to walk through Phazon all the way to the start of the room.
Also, trying to get back up to the shortcut elevator from the mines to Magmoor Caverns takes so long that you may as well go all the way around.
I let my friend borrow my copy of Dark Souls on PS3 and he quit before even killing Capra Demon, says that game is too hard for him.

No, I mean, the room to get to the Magmoor elevator was a bunch of platforms over a Phazon pit, a bunch of Morph Ball tunnels and Spider Ball tracks, and space pirates that shot you off of them when you were sure that the room was cleared. It took fucking forever to get all the way up to the top of the room.
And I have the game on a hard drive, and the lack of loading times is fucking fantastic. I can't wait to get to Prime 3, since the loading in that was my biggest problem with the game.

No, as it is, a casual player can simply play up to the seventh level in each world and be finished with the game. Only someone who truly wants to complete the game would have to worry about all the other tasks. It should definitely fix up the controls if anything. 7th Saga was unusually difficult because the localization messed some stuff up, though. I couldn't find why they decided it was a good idea to do it after a quick look, but it's pretty unusual for a game to be made harder than the original when translated to english.

Ouroboros is a much bigger problem than that guy. I seem to remember people usually thinking that it was a fight you were supposed to lose the first time you run into him. SMT bosses are all managable with enough preparation, though. It's one of those series that really makes it tough on you before you learn the system.
