I'll take note of that. The reason it's so bulky is so the tutorial event processing can run through completely without it getting cut short due to the dummy dying. The amount of health it has makes it so every turn it can be hit with a critical hit and live until Luigi is done teaching you things.

Sorry man, I'll lower their defenses. I just wanted some tough-ish enemies to battle, not one hit kills. :(

I am, however, working on implementing a system where if you are a certain level, you instantly kill enemies without battling them, like in Earthbound. Level 5+ instantly kills Goombas, 8+ instantly kills Koopas, etc.

Here's another little bug I discovered by groundpounding into the pipe.

If you stand ontop of the green pipe and tap left or right, he automatically walks slowly to the edge and falls off

Might I suggest adding a small delay to the ground pound instead of being so instant much like it is in the games.

Nice touch with him sliding when he stops and not an instant stop

Speaking of which, sorry for no ground-pound or jumping animations yet. The default script doesn't allow that, and the only script that does was a script some guy paid for and isn't publically available.

Okay, my game crashed when i used Mario's FireFlower special, a pop up came up saying there was a Null somethingsomething error. That really pissed me off...

But here's my feedback for the bit that i played.
-Like the combination of the classic Mario platforming and the RPG. The invisible blocks, switched, total plus.
-Instant Game Over for falling is not great. How was i supposed to know the green star was hiding in the 3rd pitfall without having to fall and check?
-Characters need to be fully restored when they level up. Was completely caught off guard during the Koopa fight in the castle dineroom since my health was low from training against Goombas.
-Like i said above, my game crashed the minute i used Mario's Fireball skill.

I see alot of potential in this game and hope to play the next demo. Please make Rosalina playable. PLEASE

I'm surprised you found that. I don't think I can do another way. I've tried to have it just reduce your HP, but the engine freezes the game when you die and plays a common event. I've tried editing the common event, but to no avail.

If you've implemented slopes in an environment where the player can move around, but the player can't interact with that terrain in the same way they can with all other terrain, then you have to ask yourself, from a design standpoint, why slopes were implemented.

If it's for aesthetic reasons, then don't let the player touch them. If it's part of the playable environment, then you should be able to interact with it in a meaningful way, which in this case would be walking up or down them. I understand if it's an engine limitation, but if that's the case then design around it instead of ignoring the issue.

tl;dr: Make the slopes work or get rid of them.

It might just be me, but it felt a little "barebones". I felt like there were a few lines that could have been phrased better. And the NPC's in the Mushroom Town all seemed to be saying pretty much the same thing.

But like I said, the gameplay issues should be figured out first. Especially the difficulty and the game over from pits.

hello, I recived [pic related] bug while playing the game. Also, after streaming it, I have found a few notible things I would like to report. Alot of these are mainly "Hey its an early demo so no shit this happened" but I'd like to make it known anyway.

1. At first, I played the game on normal, it was impossible to beat a goomba with out it missing twice, there needs to be some serious ballance changes.
2. going on part 1, after I put it on easy and leveled up, nothing, not even the boss could touch me.
3. Wall jumping needs to be worked on inorder to not seem random.
4. I think you should put a classification on equipable items, I didnt know shirts and overalls fall into the same slot.
5. Accuracy for luigis fire wall attack was really bad, not sure if this was on purpose
6. This is my most important complaint. Having A as jump is really uncomfortable for the hands, set it to space bar or simply just use the ZXCV for any left hand buttons in the game.

Other than this, amazing start Questy, keep up the good work, really looking forward to some cool platforming in this game!

Just my two cents. If I could do sprite work I'd definitely try and help. Hell I might try and help anyways, if nothing else I'm sure I could try my hand at some backgrounds, or at least do some concept art for a more talented guy to attempt.

Not to try and put you down here, what you've done is impressive all things considered. Far more effort into this fan project than 99.999% of all of 4chan's fan projects past.

OP - Any chance of getting a little more uniqueness amongst the early enemies? There may be more that I'm missing (an NPC mentioned a fire weakness for the shellcreepers) but for the most part each enemy feels the same.

For reference - look at the prologue areas in SMRPG and Paper Mario. Enemies used abilities (even if they did nothing special) and had varied resistances and weaknesses.

Game is pretty cute so far. Keep up the good work.
