There is a mod for oblivion called Nehrim. It is a total overhaul, so you'll need a clean oblivion install (or just install it again elsewhere). The voice acting is in german but the rest is in english, even the subtitles. Anyway this mod basically explores more roleplaying by adding weapon and armor smithing, mining and all that stuff. It is also a new world with new lore that is actually pretty cool. Go see some videos of it I thing that you'll see if you like it or not.
