What are some good metaphysical, philosophical and existentialist games?
How long would someone live for if you stripped them down to this instantly?
Like say you had some alien ray gun that evaporated skin, bone, organs, and left you like this. How long would it take to die?
Metal Gear Solid 2 is philosophical and postmodern, if that's up your alley. Not sure if I would call it existential, but it's metaphysical insofar as it's, on a certain level, a game about games and how they interact with the player.
I think it's been maybe a year since I saw this exact same post with this exact same image. This is just surreal. I mean we joke that the same exact threads are posted everyday, but I'm now seriously questioning whether the exact same posts are being made every year and I don't even notice it.
It's a great exhibit. The displays are a huge sausage fest though in my opinion.
>all those fucking dead Orientals
The dead fetuses were cool too. Just to see humans that small.
That model is really misleading in how stiff the brain and central nervous system is. It's rather delicate and floppy more it's kind of more like warming jello and extremely pliable. Just holding a brain in your hand will dent it from the weight alone and the nervous system is more like of loose skin and fat than something that looks plastic.
>actually that IS "you"
>tfw you realize you are a sack of nerves and some sensor organs.
Because it looks simple. It's not. In the same way a car looks like some metal tossed on wheels and some seats inside. Simple enough but you're forgetting pretty much every single piece of mechanics or electronics in the thing.
You're seeing it from a non-microscopic view. The same way the brain looks like a lump of crumpled fat and your eyes don't see the individual neurons or interactions at that scale.
That's the opposite of what he wants. Keyword is good. That's not Deus Ex for fuck sure. It's philosophy was essentially tacked on by a twelve year old who was impressed by near future scifi and wanted to take a stab at it.
Really? Because the human body isn't built for blood to transport oxygen to the various organs and tissue? We can just absorb oxygen through our skin, now? Great news - the only way to suffocate a human is to drown them. In water that doesn't contain oxygen. I.e. not water.
I seriously hope you are joking anon. Because I laughed.
When I was younger I'd always get really freaked out when I thought about that. The fact there's blood constantly moving in your body, organs constantly pumping, tones of things you had no idea where even there and that you can't control.
It was such a shocking experience learning that. It's like you were a robot and never knew it, then one day you look inside to find gears and circuits.
Did you ever think about what is happening under your skin when you take a step? Or squeeze something in your hands? Or even sit on your ass?
You are literally crushing veins and nerves.
>How long would someone live for if you stripped them down to this instantly?
About 560ms to 610ms on average. The time it takes that mess to hit the floor and then their brain is gone for good because it can't survive that fall without the arachnoid tissue or skull to protect it. Also those are organs, so if your ray gun destroyed organs it would destroy that as well.
>he can't absorb oxygen through his skin
Apparently there's some room that was mad that is the quietest place on the planet, it absorbs soundwaves or some shit.
People say when they are in there, they can hear the blood flowing in their body and their heart pumping
Some people hear voices
>cells are dividing in your body right now
If you're quiet enough and pay attention you can hear and feel your blood flowing in your body while lying down in bed too. In some case you can also 'see' the effect of blood pumping in you as it affects your vision greater in some circumstances where your vision kind of shakes and releases.
>as those cells divide they eventually lose their efficiency and become faulty resulting in aging and you inevitable, unavoidable death
About 100 trillion microorganisms live in your intestines. For them, you are the universe.
But I can absorb nutrients through my rectum.
I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self aware; nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, a secretion of sensory experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody’s nobody. I think the honorable thing for our species to do is deny our programming, stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal.
Organic nanomachines... but yeah.
This shit is happening in you right now. You have little dangly guys running around and footstomping and little mini rivers and organic rafts and little RNA zippers and a whole factory of fuck going on.
Life does not exist. You don't have a soul or spirit. You're nothing more than a bunch of atoms, no different than a quantum computer, and you'll stop existing when you die.
You are just a machine that will brake down one day -- is that so hard to understand? You have no value, worth, meaning, or anything. When you permanently die, it'll be as if you never existed on earth. So why does right or wrong against you matter in that sense? Emotions and feelings are an illusion created by your brain. You are a bunch of atoms, nothing more than that. Living/life do not exist in a physical sense, the atoms in your brain are arranged in such a way so you think that you are life or something else other than a bunch of atoms.
Just because humans have arbitrary categories and give those things that fall under those categories names, that doesn't make doing something that fall under those categories wrong or right. What is life and what isn't life is nothing more than your imagination. So if I "kill" "someone", it's only because you think that something is living. Also what you believe is right or wrong is all your imagination as well. There is no universal right or wrong to things, right or wrong doesn't physically exist like atoms do.
I am not "alive", I am just a bunch of atoms. Life doesn't exist, it is a term that is a secondary quality.
>mfw realizing the only thing keeping you alive is the heart
>somehow it fucking beats constantly without fail for 70+ years
I'm fucking astounded at how durable the fucking thing is every time I think about it
If the mind is just electrical signals with a storage then couldn't we upload it to some advanced computer and theoretically live forever?
How long do you guys think it'll be until we can just put heads in jars, a la Futurama?
Like all you'd theoretically need to do is pump oxygenated blood in and out, and it would be able to survive, right? As long as the brain was getting its precious oxygen, what more do you need?
>tfw permanent tinnitus
>and also right now one of my ears has ear wax buildup or some shit and i can barely hear out of it
these things are honestly the worst I have ever experienced
I hope there is an afterlife if only I can experience true silence for the first time that I can remember
> You're nothing more than a bunch of atoms,
Not even that. Atoms aren't really 'a thing' either. It's an abstract structure for energy systems and that concept can be further broken as well into other fundamental particles.
>and you'll stop existing when you die.
Maybe... Maybe not.
Life is pointless, without purpose, meaning, and reason. There is absolutely no reason to live life. Your life will end and you will stop existing. Making up a reason for you to live is like making up a reason why a computer or rock should live. From a physical standpoint, you are no different than a rock. What you think is entirely based on the arrangement of molecules in your head. If you get Alzheimer's, you will forget things. There is nothing special about you or your mind. You will stop existing one day and you will never think, see, touch, taste, smell, or hear anything else ever again. It will be as if the big bang or this universe never occurred from your point of view.
The human body is a marvel of engineering when you really think about it.
>extremely energy efficient
Life is the perfect machine.
>yfw you realize that mitochondria, which are necessary for aerobic organisms, are parasitic organisms with their own DNA
>You have completely different cells than when you were born, all of your body's cells have been replaced
>You are literally not the same person as before
>this nihilistic faggotry
Whats so wrong about being made up of atoms? To me that we are essentially an insanely complicated biological robot is just as awesome as having a "soul". Do we really need a God to give us a magically ghost-spirit thingy inside of us to have purpose?
>tfw permanent tinnitus
>and also right now one of my ears has ear wax buildup or some shit and i can barely hear out of it
I suck that shit out with those blue balls that people squirt water in them with. I get build up quite a bit, clears me right out. I don't do water squirt since I've historically had ear infections and that shit basically sets me off and drives me crazy.
>mfw i saw the humans exhibit at the carnegie sports center before they tore it down to build a road
they used chinese prisoners for all of this, it's pretty fucked up
Is this microbiology fascination a new thing or did I just start noticing these threads after I started my biotech engineering degree?
Not all of them. Neurons and myocardial muscle in the heart doesn't divide, they just slowly die off. They've been the same your entire life. All you atoms do get replaced on a regular basis.
So are you all really this edgy, or have you still not accepted your mortality?
This whole 'wow we are totally not real and just synapse responders' mentality is something you're meant to grow out of when you turn 18.
Why do you act like an angsty faggot who thinks he's the first to realise life has no purpose? The rest of the world knows this but stops thinking about it because it's not something you should dwell on to live a healthy life.
Fuck no nigga.
Biological robot sounds fucking radical.
I like to think about how much our bodies are like machines, a lot of people forget this.. hell I forget this, I need to eat more in general and drink more water..
I remember hearing about that back when it was in my city when I was a kid. My parents never let me see it because they thought it was immoral. Kinda sucks, it sounded interesting.
But that begs the question; what is "me"?
If I am the memories store in my brain, wouldn't it just feel like going to sleep then waking up in a robot body? If the brain did not die during the transfer that is.
>The rest of the world knows this but stops thinking about it because it's not something you should dwell on to live a healthy life.
More like, you're cowards incapable of accepting the futility of life.
Depends if your electrical impulses or whatever are interrupted or not
You could very well slowly translate your brain into a metallic form by replacing parts at a time and you would be the same consciousness
oh boy here comes the atheist fedora tipping 300 pound nihilist to save the thread.
If nothing exists and there is no point to anything why do anything at all? why get riled up enough to write an essay on an anonymous image board about video games when nothing matters at all?
yeah, naw nigga you're fuckin retarded.
For the pedestrians at least. They have a meaningless existence, walk from point a to point b, halfway there and BAM, car doing 120mph hits them and launches them into the air. Same with the cops, 50+ respond to a call, dead dead dead dead etc.
Your parents are nuts m8
Those exhibits are fucking awesome
Theoretically and actually, yes. But it needs to be an advanced computer and it's not straight data mapping like ram. Our minds are basically dynamically compressed encrypted data. We link some neurons to other neurons and generate a whole webbed scheme of data interacting at the abstract and physical level. So it'd need to be able to store that map in a proper fashion and everyone's map is somewhat different.
With an even more complex system you wouldn't even need to emulate the brain, your essence is abstractable to code process. The biggest issue is your brain generally expects stimuli to work with though, so you'd need to be able to represent that as well to work with it.
I'd like to live longer if it meant not being an archaic decrepit sack of skin and bones held together with what, at that point, would probably be some exo-skeletal structure of some kind. Though, at the same time the though of being some kind of 40k bio-mechanical machine-man thing is pretty fuckin N E A T O.
>we'll all be dead though, by then
>tfw you were once everything and nothing
>yfw we're made of space age composite building materials designed to maximize durability and minimize weight in Earth's specific environment
>yfw it's all essentially evolutions of the greatest element: carbon
Why is there no Church to the Holy Carbon yet?
Why are you even asking when you already know the answer?
Not to sound cliched, but life's "purpose" is what you make it. It's what you choose to do with your consciousness that makes you worth living and going on. Life is meant to be lived.
>the dark ones are rising in THIS VERY THREAD
We will become the bodiless energy of the universe, becoming one with everything, and when the time is right, we will become something else, maybe what we once were, or maybe something we cant even dream of.
Nothing ever ends, anon.
'You' would be your current organic brain firing electrical signals that lets you process and interpret your surroundings.
If you are literally talking about transplanting your brain into a machine, then yeah it should logically feel like you waking up in cold casing.
Existentialism is the excuse people give that their made up beliefs such as reason/value/meaning are true from their perspective.
Just because someone believes that a point to life isn't objective does not mean that believing in a subjective reason for your life is not based on logical fallacies.
I'm glad that there is no afterlife. Everyone will go back to nothingness where they belong and it'll be as if the big bang accident never occurred. Things will go back to normal.
>This whole 'wow we are totally not real and just synapse responders' mentality is something you're meant to grow out of when you turn 18.
Actually it's not, because you are. It's a factual statement. If you grow out of factual statements when you're 18, which is also completely arbitrary as fuck, you are retarded.
Uploading your mind to a computer would just create a copy, which isn't technically you. You'll still age and die.
The best we could do is replace our dying brain cells with replicating artificial ones as the old ones die. Eventually, your brain would be mostly artificial and maybe actually transferable.
that's pretty much it. we're just naturally occurring grey goo formed in the shape of a monkey. All those squishy nanomachines decided they wanted to fap to /ss/, so they merged together and created Man.
Mutualistic, not parasitic.
Additionally, they aren't really "organisms" anymore, as they no longer have the capacity to perform anywhere near complete metabolism on their own
absolutely everything that we do is done with the human body, and I think its a mistake to separate it logically from the brain, since the brain shuts off almost immediately after you take too many stimulants away
learning and information storage
every environmental interaction
creation of more machines
certain parts of your brain are not even aware of the activity of other parts of your brain. Somehow there is a 'you' that can access things like memories, desires, or instincts, but those subcomponents are not you, nor are they even aware of themselves
>tfw you might have been born just in time to experience immortality and the ability to shitpost endlessly
think of the possiblities
>not naming that let's rock
You had one job
If your head and internal organs (along with your entire spine, probably) was magically transmuted into a robit body specifically designed to house and keep these organs alive and all this highly-hypothetical science bullshit somehow makes it so you can just 'wake up' inside this body and have control of it... I'd imagine you'd be overwhelmed by an full-body phantom.. body syndrome.
That raises the question of "what is normal?"
Normal is a term given to what is most prominent.
As far as we know, life and existence is what is most prominent. What existed before existence? How much time passed before a new cycle was born?
>Pleasure feels good.
That is true by definition.
Anyone responding to the question of what the reason of life is, because if it doesn't align with the facts, then they're wrong. Is pleasure awesome? Definitely. Is it the meaning to life? Unlikely since so much of life is unable to experience it or has limited experience of it and how life is potentially going to take a turn where pleasure isn't really a thing anymore, though it may gain it back... really we don't know and the answer sure as fuck isn't "we know because we like the idea of <something here>." For the same reason heaven doesn't exist just because the idea of people dying makes your grandmother sad.
A person with a mechanical limb depending on which way it was mechanical would feel exactly as it was programmed to feel. If it could feel limb the way organic people do, it would especially if it were comprised of nanomachines which in effect could emulate organic processes.
>the year is 2330
>all humans have finally been given the gift of metal forms
>but there is something wrong
where there were once bone skeletons, there are now steel skeletons
That's what I was getting at.
If you've experienced your entire life up until that point as a real human bean, and then just removed every inch of "body" and replaced it with machine, like Murphy from Robocop or some shit. They scrap his entire body except for his brain I think.
I'd imagine the feeling of full-body-phantom-limb would be fucking horrible.
I can hear my heart quite often and my chest hurts sometimes. Got it all checked out and the doctors couldn't figure out whats wrong with me. I'm chalking it down to costochondritis and anxiety. My anxiety has gotten better over the years, but knowing the organ systems in your body and how everything works is unsettling for me. Are bodies are so imperfect.
Houses highly sensitive nerves that transmit pleasure to the brain and promotes breeding.
Lubricates the glans preventing it from dryness, sensitivity loss, and produces highly nutritional smegma.

>yfw all the immortals get imprisoned by a giant sadistic AI god and tortured for eternity
>two entire days of slow as fuck posting and nothing of value of posting and a single interesting thread crops up and I need to bitch!
More pocket manster, argh! Also, the thread technically is a valid game request thread. It's just kind of veering off and exploring the very questions that the OP wants to know. Find a game that discusses these topics and bring it back on board if you want.
I would like to know, despite your truth, what exactly does the thinking. What is the absolute smallest, most basic part of the brain that's fully conscious of being conscious? Does it require literally all the brain, nervous system, organs etc to be able to think? No. Yes, to live, sure, but to think? I want to know what the most basic thing that can think is. I'd like to know.
congrats on being immortalized in retard history
>What is the absolute smallest, most basic part of the brain that's fully conscious of being conscious?
There isn't. It's like asking which gear contains the time in mechanical clock. Or what part of the computer contains the understanding or the processes it's doing. It doesn't. There is no part of you that thinks because it is the parts of you that make the thinking happen.
There is no absolute and objective morality.
Morality is just an evolutionary tool and can change due to different selective pressures.
Your opinion is meaningless. Why gives a fuck?
Your posts are meaningless. Why even bother?
This thread is meaningless. Why are you even posting?
This site is meaningless. Why are you here?
Your life is meaningless. Why live?
Death is the only equalizer.
You, me, and everyone you know will die.
You, me, and everyone else you know will have lived a pointless, futile, and utterly meaningless life.
But hey, if pretending things have meaning makes you feel better. Go ahead.
Deep down inside... You know you're worthless, and so is everything and everyone else. The girl/guy you have a crush on, the family you love, the people you meet, your enemies... You, me, and everyone and everything else might as well have never existed. Because once you die, you remember nothing, you know nothing, you're conscious of nothing, you ARE nothing.
Everyone will die, some just deserve it faster than others.
Nothing is objective. Everything relies on perception and belief. Your prime enemy is using the heart of a dead god to reconstruct an artificial god that an atheistic culture attempted to construct (Dwemer).
And you, the 'hero', aren't really a reincarnate or divine figure. You're only an individual that is instructed to go through the rituals to gain everyone's trust and eventually win the faith of the people. They believe you are what they want. You fulfill the prophecies simply by doing so. You are an artificial reincarnate stopping an artificial god from coming to being.
On that note.
>the idea of infinite timelines is a joke because free will is an illusion
>every 'choice' we ever make is the sum of everything we are and everything that has happened to us since we began forming in the womb
>with no prior knowledge we would make the same choice in any given situation 100% of the time
Mods duty is to keep a thread if there are people want to talk about it, even it's off-topic. Of course it shouldn't violate more important rules. I don't care about this sort of discussion at all, I just popped my head in and post what I thought. I remember threads like this on /b/, don't know if they still exist since I haven't been there for a while.
Enjoy your shitty thread, anon.
A rock may not be conscious of anything, but it doesn't follow that it is nothing. Likewise, a body may die but it doesn't simply become nothing. In fact, nothing ever ceases to be, it merely changes form. Existence is change. You've changed reading this
The Talos Principle
It also has an assload of cool hidden things in it.
Yes, life seems to be a non-existent concept. Perhaps the argument can be made that solitary thoughts are a result of life only, or perhaps you could say that ANY given life form, given EXACTLY the conditions you had lived up to that point, would have had the exact same thought. Life itself may simply be a reactive-based system that's unbelievably unpredictable for us, but perfectly explainable AND predictable given knowledge of ALL conditions that life has lived.
Or maybe the thought that just popped into your head as you were sitting in your dining room, pondering the universe, is one only you would have had right then and there given your exact conditions and that defines life.
I don't know, but I think I prefer the idea that it's just a reaction system.
Why? Because I do. I do because I do. It's not a question of why. Why do you exist? And you can't suggest well I'll kill myself. Well then why the hell did you continue being born in the first place, you did that and you learned and experience and you interacted and now you think stopping might be okay and it might be okay. Because you do what you do. You might end it and if you that's what you did but for those of us who don't we didn't and we don't.
Why anything? Because.
Without because you can't why in the first place. You need because, because otherwise you can't why. The end doesn't justify the means, the end is the reason for the beginning.

what does objectively morality even mean though? So lets assume there is a God and he decides the rape is objectively immoral. What does this actually do? Does make rape victims suffer less. Won't stop rapist from doing it if they can get away with it. Makes no differnce if there is objective or non objective mortality in the universe. People are going to do the actions they think create the best outcome either way.
>yfw all the immortals are imprisoned by a giant benevolent AI god and are pleasured beyond their wildest imaginings for eternity.
Heat death of the universe already? But I only got to have 15 trillion orgies with all my favorite anime whores! Life is so cruel.
Talos Principle. Story and gameplay are completely disconnected untull the end but both are fairly amazing in their own rights. Its pike if myst and portal had a child
Get it if you like puzzles and a good story
Eternal sonata: Chopin on his deathbed dreams of another world.
shadow of memories: have not played much but the intro scene where the character dies is quite symbolic and has a lot of cliches from mythology's and religions.
Silent hill series: has a lot of symbolism and themes from various religions (such as Kabbalah, Gnosis, bible ect..) and philosophy's about death and the afterlife.
Metal gear series: more political brings up ethics and shady government society's who manipulate behind the scenes.
Persona series: has a lot of Jungian archetypes and characters from mythologies and religions. the shadows and persona's are pretty supernatural. almost finished 3 but cant speak about it yet so 4 to me is about coming from nothing and building lifelong friendships basically. cant think about more in persona at the moment.
those are the main games of the top of my head. But I know there's heaps more on my list somewhere that I could describe as having philosophical and metaphysical elements albeit not to a extreme extent.

You didn't understand Camus did you.
We are already on the way to building machines that replicate and replace human bodyparts. Small, awkward prosthetics, yes, but it's progress nonetheless.
If you suddenly download your brain into a some weird storage that replicates all the human senses in realtime, you'd have successfully transported your consciousness into a machine body. That might seem a bit outrageous, but what if the change happened gradually?
You could get bits and pieces of yourself replaced with machines, at a pace so slow you won't really mind the individual changes. Some skin grafts there, a few synthetic muscles there. Maybe a few implants to help your brain coordinate your new impressive augments.
At what point do you stop being "you"? At what point do you stop being human?
Oh fuck, that shit was awesome. I remember something like pic related too.
Sometimes I'm not sure whether I would rather have an insatiable libido and be able to fulfill any sexual fantasy imaginable 24/7 for all time or whether I would prefer to simply not have a libido period and have an interesting and adventurous existence
I remember learning about the eventual death of the sun when I was in elementary school, and I couldn't sleep the entire night, thinking about how one day the world would end. Was also terrified of being dead, and trying to comprehend the idea of 'forever'. I was a highly anxious child.
Imagine a parasite that invades your skull through your nose, ears or mouth and takes over your body You are still conscious, and see everything you do, unable to control yourself.
And there is no way to prove it. If you really do continue to exist, you will know but you can't prove to anyone else because even if you don't your copy will literally be exactly the same so of course it will conclude that it is the original.
It would look weird, yeah, but with no meat to shield its nerves any hit could send waves of crippling pain through it. Plus it would be more like a gooey blob. If a skeleton was coming at you though, you'd be proper fucked.
I was talking to my cousin about this exhibit earlier this weak. She's a med school student and has worked on cadavers before.
They're taught to greet the bodies Hello before they get to work and thank them after they're done. Apparently there's been a few /x/-quality incidents involving students and profs who didn't treat the bodies with respect, but she didn't get into details
Anyway, the point I was getting to is that most of the bodies at the exhibit are Chinese. Which is funny because most of them have massive dicks. Can't blame me for staring, you would too if you went to see it. It's probably engorged on a shitton of preservatives though. Also the directing scientist of the exhibit is a German dude.
Once again, Germany and Asians work together to bring us macabre, fucked up shit that's somehow also really educational.
Nearly no libidofag here.
Deliver me from this hell and let me see life through your sex crazed eyes.

kek you even repeatedly say that the mind is made up of matter urself
Imagine a life where you have never been great at anything, never felt the urge to be great at anything, never felt that magnetic admiration to someone who was great at something, wanted to imitate and ultimately defeat him. Just nothing. Literally all you do in life is exist. Occupy space. pass the time. You're a chick.
You're bored, tweeting about your fucking hair and not even feeling any kind of happiness from it, just soothing your constant need to be bitter and cunty and petty toward other women. Every single thing you've done in the past year was mundane, shallow, and boring. You spent the last six hours reading kinda-interesting Reddit stories about people who made interesting Halloween hats for their kids or some stupid bullshit that you think is interesting and you may say is interesting but you're not really sure if it's really interesting. You're just fucking sitting there, gestating, fermenting, with a moist hole between your legs that guarantees you'll at least never have to get up and move around and work to support yourself.
And then you see men, over in some corner, having fun. You've never seen this before. What are they even doing? Instead of their consciousnesses merely sitting in their thick skull and revolving around itself, they are imbuing their conscious energy and intentionality into external objects, crafts, goals, projects. All the bitterness and cuntiness you feel nonstop seems to be absent, as they congratulate each other for being victorious, and happily learn from someone who defeated them. These creatures are truly content to be alive. They have found purpose in a purposeless universe.
And your gaze turns back on itself, on your self, and you realise you've never had that. You can never have it. You're just a stupid cunt.
So you get up, you walk over there, and you fucking ruin everything. Just ruin the whole fucking thing. The five seconds of attention you get will be worth destroying it. Because you're a woman.
I haven't had any libido whatsoever, effectively speaking, due to some medicine I started taking.
It's fucking amazing. I have so much more free time now it's ridiculous, and I can actually think about shit. Like I can focus. Before this I was jackin' it like three, four times a day, erry day since I was like 12.
Good fucking riddance, holy shit.
In a single cell in your body there are more mechanisms then your conscious mind will ever be able to comprehend
Your heart is a muscle that excerts the same power as small crane each time it beats and it continously beats of an average of 2 billion times throughout your life
The human brain is a computer that can proccess who it is, the only thing in the world that has ever shown full self awarness.
Humans might not be the most unique thing in the universe but life in general is so complex that we still don't understand it after billions of manhours trying to figure it out.
What if we are reincarnated repeatedly into this hellhole until our meta self has so much experience here that we begin to have an ever increasing sense of deja and such high levels of hatred and depression that we eventually kill ourselves, and that is what sets us free into becoming the gods we were meant to be.
Nah, the best option is definitely to have your mind tweaked into that of a young adolescent boy and thrown into a world where older monster girls with insatiable lust run rampant.
This is from the body worlds museum right? I went to that last May with the Biology department and it was really interesting. The body of the pregnant female was quite something to see.
If the human brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn't.
The brain has less than 100% efficiency and thus can't fully understand itself. Ever,

Question, how much could the body remove yet still function if in some sort of big ol' jar?
>tfw you saw that ages ago
>tfw you don't remember most stuff
True, the human brain is really cool though, like when we finalky crack the "code" of the brain it will be intresting to see what kind of biological computers we will be able to build
but my points is objective morality might as well not exist even if it did. It doesn't effect anything. So what if you do an "objectively" morally right or wrong thing? People are just going to due what they ultimately subjectively think is the best. Weather it an entirely selfish actions that harms others or befits society is ultimately subjective.
To put it vidya terms it would be like having a morality bar, but it doesn't actually effect anything in game. Sure so actions might be "good" or "bad" but whats the point in it?
Things like this aren't worth thinking about. Even if its true you can't do anything about it.
Now go back to sleep, no need to think like that.
Uhg this is so painfully contrived. The worst part is that he thinks this is some sort of great revelation he's come to.
It isn't anon, most human beings know this. They just know that it's equally worthless and pointless to ponder such triviality.
it's a slight modification of the story you're probably talking about, which suggests that we are literally every human that as ever existed
>tfw you will never unlock 90% of your brain and be able to pause, rewind, and fast forward through time while teleporting
The art was alright but the film was shit.
Strange that you'd attach it to what I just said. I never thought of that.
Although, of course, all of Lucy is pathetic bullshit and I wasn't referring to any of the "40% control others" bollocks. It's just that the brain can never be smart enough to understand itself.
No, you are not the memories in your brain. You are the body that is currently in the state defined by those memories. So copying the memories somewhere else wouldn't transfer your consciousness. It would only create a new consciousness that thinks it is you, since it has all of your memories.
4chan is actually an intricate gathering of various chat-bots that can pass the turing test.
I'm the only one aware enough to be able to tell you this, but you're right. None of us are real, only you.
>You are literally the ghost in the machine
>Death is the only equalizer.
>Relying on death to be the only equalizer
That's like running out the timer because you're too much of a pussy to engage.
Git gud scrub, then maybe you'll stop having these retarded nihilistic thoughts when you're drunk and high at 2am in the morning.
Literally every abstract game in history.
Silent Hill 2
Dark Souls 2
That's totally not fucking horrifying at all. Nope, not one goddamn bit.
>I cannot even express how much I hated Barney.
This is so hilariously tragic.
But I like you guys too much, if I sleep you're gone. Probably will never know if I will ever speak to you again. I know there thousands of you out there, not only fooling with me but also with other when I'm awake again.
>/v/ trying to be philosophical
The past 8 years of shitposting that I had to put up with... it was all worth it. This shit is comedy gold.
ok ok, since this question is retarded, how about another retarded question?
what if we were simulated so our nervous system was completely outside of our body. we were still alive and everything, just how would it feel like?
First step is finding a way to preserve the brain alive, and then build artificial bodies from there. What's sad is nobody is working towards that goal. It's like people want to die.
I honestly don't believe they do. Smart people are aware, sure. But a lot of people that seem smart on the surface because of their occupation our education really aren't at all.
I take a look around at people and I just get the sense that they just don't really think about things. I hope I'm wrong, but in a world with billions of religious people I just don't see it.
That screencap was a better theory because it would make more sense that to become a god you would have to know everything about all life. Rather than knowing something about a few human lives and then being an edgy teenager and offing yourself.
Fuck I hate that. There's so much stuff I've seen and experienced that I just can't remember anymore, like it never happened. It seems like I've only lived like 3 years because anything further back is just a blur.
You're adorable anon. Come here you miserable shit have some cute.
>Every cell in your body dies fairly quickly, so they all make exact copies of themselves to replace them when they die
>Every cell in your body is completely different every 7 years
>yfw you realized you're just a clone of someone who existed before you, you just kept copies of their memories so that's why you think you're them
morality is something humanity created to try to convince people to not act like cunts. When you decide that raping someone is the best thing you could do, you prove that you do not belong with humanity, even if you get away with it
>The brain has less than 100% efficiency and thus can't fully understand itself. Ever,
That's not how understanding works.
>>tfw you will never unlock 90% of your brain and be able to pause, rewind, and fast forward through time while teleporting
Of course you won't because that's not how brains work
>tfw you will never unlock 90% of your brain and be able to pause, rewind, and fast forward through time while teleporting
I knew Lucy would be retarded as soon as they used the "we only use 10% of our brains" line. I'm just surprised how retarded they actually went. It was almost 100% full retard.
what is cute? nothing, it's subjective so it's meaningless
>acquired the fundamentals of logic at age 12(ish)
>create form of ethics and morality through rational thought
>proves to be beneficial in social situations
>graduate high school without studying once (not that its a big achievement)
>find salvation in logic and rationality as a replacement of religion
Irrelivent infomation, what you want is my question, and so it is such, i ask this from pure curiosity.
Now here is the real question: Is it necessary/pre-requisiteral for one to cease emotions, in order for 100% pure logical, rational, and analyticall thought to occur. discuss.
Our laws can be based of off morality, just not "objective morality"
We can all pretty much agree we want to live in a world that promotes human health, happiness, well being and minimizes suffering. But thats ultimately a subjective thing to benefit us. Just look at the same sex marriage debate, most supporters of same sex marriage will say it does no or little harm to anyone, and increase human happiness and well being, so why shouldn't we have it? When some Bible thumper comes along and says homosexuality is immoral because God says so, its like saying its bad because its bad. It like a "-5 morality" in my vidya analogy. (I'm over simplifying massively but you get the point)
I wish I had enough faith in humanity to convince myself that this post was intended to be ironic, but as it stands...
This is why I get so confused when people say immortality would be awful
Things you've already done will be fresh again after like 50 years, there's literally no shortage of what you could do until the fucking end of the universe
I Think its great, I remember all the best stuff and all the worst stuff and all the mediocre shit just kinda falls away, makes my life seem like an interesting event. Not to mention looking back on it, even the bad stuff looks pretty good.
yfw this is an analogy for video games
Fuck this low powered game. I wanted to do cool shit.
>smoke too much weed
>for two minutes
Jesus Christ, imagine being force-smoked weed forever
Consciousness is just a byproduct of evolution. No seriously. There's theories which suggest that the reason why humans are so "smart" is because we began walking upright and starting throwing things in order to defend ourselves and hunt.
Walking erect allows you to support the weight of a big fat brain and throwing things requires intricate calculations of distance, trajectory, and timing.
Sapience is a testament to being the greatest fucking species on the planet. The fact that we're effectively destroying the ecosystem and royally fucking up other species is because humanity is so damned good at survival, we are literally out-living the planet itself.
So hustle already. Go on! Don't you see? The world is literally your bitch. You won the fucking lottery of existence being born human. Get out there. Take thousands upon thousands of years of the biological advancements and selective self-engineering gifted to you, and use it to it's maximum potential:
shitposting on the internet and making others slightly irritated before bed
It's all lead up to this, boys. Don't squander it.
>Once again, Germany and Asians work together to bring us macabre, fucked up shit that's somehow also really educational.
It's because Germans and Asians are the perfect combination of soulless, autistic worker drone races who are naturally psychopathic and incapable of experiencing empathy for anyone else.
Fuck, I'd get nervous around that thing. The hosts got a lot of nerve to set up things like that. It really requires a lot of backbone. Then again, I'm pretty boneless guy myself, so I can only imagine. I just don't know what's so appeeling going around eyeballing those things anyways.
>wah muh no purpose life
YOUR DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS, /v/.
KEEP DRILLING UPWARD
Assuming 18 is the max you can possibly get as as a human, 1 is you literally do not have the stat, and 10 is the average for a human being in modern times.
I plan on getting /fit/ when I finish uni, so my str and int/wis should rise another point or 2 eventually. Maybe if I ever become /fa/ my cha will rise as well.
>Inb4 someone with 18 everything
>tfw same situation but running a
MAIDgame in a few days for people from /v/, /tg/ and /a/
Okah, gonna go out on a limb and answer both questions actually
The answer to the question you replied to is about 1.5-2 minutes of consciousness, 6 minutes before brain damage and 8+ minutes for death, you would most likely feel extremes as nerves are usually protected by skin and muscle tissue, ie. extremly cold/warm or extreme preassure to the point of pain, I would also imagene amputation symptom would be relevant and you would believe that what you saw (if you saw anything) would most likely be a trick and you would feel your body instead.
And to your question possibly the same, it is theoretically possible (imagene the nervous system being bathed in oxygenated blood) and you would possibly feel like being submerged in liquid.
However that is if the nervous system just doesn't simply shut down and goes into shoc immediently.
>hundreds of thousands of years of hominid evolution has culminated in the ability for me to get banned from 4chan by transmitting crudely drawn anime pornography to some other hairless apes on the other side of the planet at the speed of light
are you there, God? i've reached the apex. this is the telos of man
I'm convinced in life after death.
I mean, I was dead for 14 billion years and then I suddenly came to be. Maybe when I die, I'll just be dead for another 14 billion years, or even 14 billion universes, until my faggotry is called upon again. To me, that time would feel like no time at all.
Hell, maybe the entire Universe is stuck in a loop and we do a hard reset every few billion/trillion years, reliving the exact same shit endlessly without any idea.
Or maybe we're all already dead and our current conscious experiences are just our brains running through a life we lived unconsciously before it accepts death and shuts down forever.
Or maybe I'm just fucking stupid. Actually, definitely that.
I have to admit its pretty impressive that I'm regularly communicate with people thousand of miles away and I think nothing for it. Thats pretty impressive feat.
As far as I see it earth belongs to the humans, everything is for us to use, we are the only ones who deserve it. Conservation efforts shouldn't be for "protecting" the planet but for managing and persevering resources
Anything that doesn't actually boil down to those and plenty don't ask or imply it.
Also it's shit because war isn't bad.
Life is war and you fight it on a microscopic level and a systemic level every day. Every day you go to work, every breathe you take is another move in a never ending shifting battle, between organisms inside you, outside you, economies, people, countries.
Existence is the longest war in history and destruction and chaos are necessary for creation and order. You can not build without first extracting and decomposing. You cannot order if all things are ordered, you too would be ordered and the world would be stagnant and void. Just like war is not constant destruction but pseudo-aimed and erratic combination of destruction and peace.
You know, for as much shit as HFY gets, I'll never not enjoy it.
Cool, but just tell me what a drill is first. It's just an arbitrary definition attributed to an arbitrary object.
Definitions change constantly, which means words change constantly. I'm not typing anything right now, it has NO MEANING. mbshbdhsadsadhsadndkjhabu4y234 could be an amazing essay years and years from now.
"REEEEEE AAAGGGGGHHHHHHH GOOGOO GAGA" could be a form of asking a female out. It all means absolutely nothing. You are nothing, drills are nothing.
>Asians are actually biological robots crafted long ago by mad, ancient german scientists during a lost age
>They're subconsciously programmed not to harm humanity, so instead they hate each other and fuck each other up in wars instead
>Soulless, inscrutable, pragmatic, and robotic in almost every aspect. You can see it in their acting and business practices.
>The harsh, unforgiving rearing of an Asian child is actually calibrating them for induction into the hivemind network, disguised socially as the construct known as "honor" and "family first"
