Can we talk about girls and spaceships?
Ranpha drew me into the series but then Vanilla's chapter blew me away in her purity.
She's the definition of pure love.
Also, take these http://pastebin.com/SB9Avy0J
I used to make weekly threads on /a/ for around 4 months but the influx of newfags don't make a thread last too long.
An anon picked up the rarely played 2nd trilogy and we haven't had a lengthy thread since then.
What the fuck was the name of that anime that had spaceships with arms? There was a chick that had to get naked in a tube for the ship to be cool or something too.
And the main dude had like different bullets for his revolver or what?
damn that sucks.
Would you consider playing the games first or watching the anime?
I wish I could do than as questions ,but I don't really know anything about the game to discuss it.
It's ringing a bell but I can't seem to actually get a series name through my head
There are no H-scenes or the likes in any of the official material. The only "hentai" of this series is from the Newgrounds version
The anime and games are completely separate. Apparently, the developers of the games gave only the basic character traits sheet to the anime producers when the game got delayed so the anime just went on its own direction.
Whichever you experience first, it'll enrich the other's experience.
Game for plot and romance, anime for comedy
Also had one of the best catgirls.
I still find immense charm in older series like these
>Fuck off back to /a/
I wish /a/ could have GA threads again
Fuwanovel stuff come pre-installed and if you're lucky, nothing will go wrong. In the case it does go wrong, the long download way is a little more tedious but it will have less problems.
And before Piratebay fully goes away, I urge people to grab the PS2 isos for the 2nd games.
>People talking about a show that isn't just soulless pandering or moe shit
>Fuck off back to /a/
I debated downloading this so many times but those girls combined with no sexual content put me off. Might grab it next time I cycle around to VNs and eroge at least, the anime looks a laugh too.
How's the gameplay? Actually decent or Koihime Musou rock-paper-scissors tier shallow?
It's sad, i've had much better anime related discussions on /v/ than on /a/, I don't know what happened to them. I never really browsed /a/ all that much to begin with though, so I guess I don't know if it was always as bad as it is now.
Either way, somehow /a/ is worse for anime discussion than /v/ is for video game discussion.
You don't need sexual content to make girls memorable anon. In my case, I stopped having lewd thoughts after playing them, the love is that just nice.
Gameplay gives you command of 5-6 fighters. You don't directly control them so you leave it to the AI for the ships to take down enemy targets who you assign. It's piss easy in the first game save like 1 mission but it gets harder by the 3rd game.
Nah. 1st game is easy all throughout. I only died once on the last mission. And that's because I figured the Elsior would be able to fight with that new giant fucking cannon. But nope.
Only 90s kids will remember outlaw star, aimirite?
Seriously though I prefer older anime style, it seemed to have more effort put into it than the style and animation a lot of shows have nowadays.
From what another anon said a while back, if a ship gots shot down out of a fight, their opinion of you lowers. But only Ranpha should be the one regularly dying if you're not paying attention
>mfw just finished downloading Outlaw Star on bluray
I didn't die on that one, but you're right. It was the first time I ever went "Oh shit" and might be dead if it wasn't for vanilla suddenly deciding she likes me and spamming repair wave every 10 seconds.
You will be
disappointed. The central storyline is very weak and most of the show is wandering with no goal and no resolution and it contributes nothing to its story.
I like it too, but I think I should have kept it in my memory as nostalgia because it just doesn't seem very good on repeat viewings.
She's my 2nd favorite though. Somehow her counterpart in the 2nd games is even more Japanese than her
>wanted to go with vanilla
>not enough points with her. Had to choose mint
>tell her I'm still unsure if we can really make it vs. Eonia
>mfw the rape machine that was her angel frame becomes fucking useless
>mfw her sad-looking portrait in battle
I shut it off and haven't played since.
Every girl has that one dialogue choice that will either cement the relationship or just cut off it off.
Vanilla's was heartbreaking.
But hey, you still got Lester
I got my start with hand-drawn anime, I like the style and it looks beautiful in motion with enough budget behind it. I'd post stuff from Area 88 if I had it but this hard drive is barren. I'm not going to hold on to it though when modern anime shows it can look amazing under similar conditions, to see this you should look up and download Karas if you haven't already. Best CGI I've seen and the anime is good too if you like power suits and armour.
I'd choose lester over the girls any day. Fuck man. Why does the best character have so little screentime. How can you give a guy the last name cooldaras and not give him that much screentime.
I'll have to play the vanilla route and see it for myself. I love pull-your-heart-out kind of choices.
All rejection scenes are heartbreaking in their own way since all the girls were, in a story sense, alone for quite a while
An Outlaw Star game that goes between a TPS and a game like ACE for the space battles would be insane.
Manga is pretty divergent from the anime. They don't share too many similarities and I didn't end up liking it as much.
Hell I don't even think they even resolved the fight with Eonia
I remember watching the anime a while back, but I've never played the VN. I thought it was pretty funny.
I don't really watch anime much but the only ones I like are the retarded ass ones with dumb humor like Cromartie and Azumanga
Why haven't you played Phantasy Star Portable 2 yet /v/?
You might want to check out Binbougami Ga, Daily Lives of Highschool Boys, and Seto no Hanayome for more random ass humor
>Manga is pretty divergent from the anime
Well, I'd sure hope so.
I'll be disappointing if it doesn't show up though. It was legitimately a really good scene, with tact going "There's someone here I don't mind dying with" when there were 3 girls in the room and all.
I also think the manga did some scenes from the games better (though like you said, it's not overall all that great) the chapter on the recon robot that infiltrates the elsior is golden.
Eh, I didn't care for her, she was just so boring. I guess you might say she was was too
vanillafor my taste.
Best girl here though imo.
I have, I just need to play it alone because in a moment of pure stinginess I bought the budget PSP model with one speaker and no internet.
I only went for the manga to see more Lester, he rarely shows up in the 2nd series. Everytime he does show up is to apprehend Tact
>tfw they had to cover Ranpha and Forte's tits with white clothe
sjw existed back then
You'd be surprised how much the their own games give more character development compared to their counterparts.
It was because of kids since the show was on primetime before switching to latenight and then never going back to uncovering that sexy navel.
Fucking anime is pure gold. Not sure about the games but I do enjoy me some VN.
>tfw this series is almost 15 years old
Also Mint is best girl
>voiced by Miyuki fucking Sawashiro
Find the treasure
stop the pirates
You're the kind of autist that blindly defends the generic otaku trash that's available now adays.
go back to your containment board
Insanity and narcissism were understandably toned down but the VN's are fun if you already know the characters.
Instead of being bitches, everyone fully supports your chosen relationship which only add to making everyone being best girl
I love her
You're speaking my language. Mint for best girl
Assholes that they were, we don't get characters like them anymore
And now you're insulting Ryoko.
There's no hope for you.
>that one episode where the suspension bridge breaks
The trio worsk really well when you have vanilla and Milfy to change things up when it gets tiring. I think that the best things about the anime was how the overly exaggerated personalities kept everyone in check.
They're psychic ears you see.
A world of pure love and explosions await you
That and by AA they weren't AS bad.
That said in AA we saw characters turning into trees until the universe ended and a whole episode dedicated to a magic picture wand that starts wars so really it could all be the same and the general craziness just offset it.
>everyone being best girl
It's quite a possibility if you like tsunderes.
Just remember to install everything using applocale or having your locale set to japanese
Just remember, it presents itself as a light-hearted mecha anime but the actual theme is life is nothing like your light-hearted mecha anime.
Ranpha for the best tsundere no one remembers
Oh well, anything with that much synth is good in any language.
Emblem Frames are fucking enormous. Bigger than a few Gundams. The Elsior holds like 6 of them in the Hangar and it's big enough to have a fucking park and beach
She actually grew to around Chitose's height while Mint didn't grow an inch
>1 click download doesn't work for regular users
I'm putting all my trust on you anon, they all better be the bestest of best girls.
You could take a crack a fuwanovel for a simpler download.
But I'm confident you'll like everyone
Well, we got legit games that got showed off at E3 and Tokyo Game Show when they were relevant.
Hell, we almost got them out over here.
Speaking of? Did you ever play that GBA one?
It was based off the anime rather than the VNs, so it was pretty different. in fact it was a board game. Not too bad despite not understanding a fucking thing
If I only had webms for Ranpha and Vanilla's cutscenes. Now Vanilla's cutscenes were heart attack inducing
I didn't even know it existed. I'll be sure to check it out!
I thought the real theme was
the direct sequel being an untranslated PS1 game bridging the TV anime and a film that doesn't belong otherwise.
To see Milfy doing this.... It's weird after just watching the anime.
Can't wait to play it.
Take it from a guy who played all 6 games.
Her sister is cuter
You'll be surprised how Vanilla changed too
I'd suck your dick for those cutscenes. My installation is all kinds of fucked and I can't view them.
If I start it as admin I can see them just fine. But then the game runs slower that a frame ever 20 seconds.
>rune better than anything
Even if it might be true, you're still making me upset.
No, I was playing fullscreen. Now I have an excuse to replay it as well as the vanilla route though.
The original game is so fucking old that it can barely run windowed. I have the same problems with the first game but only the first one. The cutscenes are on youtube.
Windowed mode should work for ML and EL though
Granted, the first cutscenes looked somewhat derpy. They started looking a lot better from ML and forward.
I do have this for you
Is it worth getting into? This is the only exposure I've had to it before
That doesn't look bad at all though. Thanks anon. You're the best.
>Everyone that tries to take your chosen girl dies later that night
It might have been a shitty thing to do, and they were all shitty people in general, but Sigurd and co. shouldn't have died like that.
You won't get lewds but you'll get pure love
People had to die to make the "war" feeling a bit more real. I doubt people will find a loli deathstar intimidating if it doesn't crack a planet
Speaking of Noa, she became hot
You guys watch this softcore hentai ova by Masaki Kajishima?
her tits seem to be running away from each other.
It was also a missed opportunity to have them die there rather than in their ships. It would have been good for an escape the enemy mission so brutal that they have to die.
But considering the gameplay, that might have been asking too much.
poor lester. Will never be more than a minor support character.
And 148 posts must be a new thread record. Good job everyone.
Out of curiosity, how many posts are the weekly /a/ threads?
We've had 3-4 really big ones.
Compared to the average /a/ thread, this is regular weekly sized.
I think I'll stick to /v/ a bit longer.
It's tough having so few people to talk about it with.
Moreso when only around 6 people on 4chan played GAII
Nano has objectively the best routes and she's my least favorite girl
I got one anon to play through the 2nd series and he seems to have enjoyed the ride.
Let me tell you, the finale for the final game was probably one of the most hypest vidya experiences I ever had.
Sounds far-fetched for a VN series but with all the characters, background lore, the minute long cutscene, and emotion going into, it was fucking insane. Makes ME3 look even worse in comparison
Who knows, maybe we can bring some popularity back to it and get more new people interested in GA. I find out something new every week in these threads so I anticipate them more and more every week, The community may be small now, but it can be rebuilt, we have the technology.
There's tons of stuff surrounding GA and it'd be a tragedy to see it forgotten. I'm happy to see that at least there's a few of us kicking around to enjoy it - now we just need more people to see why we enjoy it so much and get into it.
Latenight threads used to be the norm for weekly threads back on /a/. Then we got to regular night time and now we're back here.
I don't know, latenight /v/ has less kiddies
Was fun while it lasted.
I'll stick around for questions until thread's end
Good night everyone, and thank you for the thread.
Always be on the lookout for the pastebin for thread links
