i wouldn't mind that shit at the end of the game, they've always gone over the top there, but when I'm playing through the game I want to play Metal Gear Solid, not a generic TPS.

also one act was rolling through little robots half the time and another was following a dude around the whole time just to enter another turret section

I liked act 1 and 2

MGS4 was a pretty good game. /v/ agrees that it was good not great.

Even-numbered Metal Gears have a lot of hangups, while odd-numbered ones are pretty fucking cool.

Nothing. People demanded a fucking conclusion after 2 and got it. What the fuck else do you people want? The gameplay, story, music, graphics, sound effects, and details in the game were fantastic. It's the worst out of the main 4 games, but it's still incredible.

The only thing I didn't agree with was fucking Naomi. Holy shit everything about her in the game was horrendous.

I think the majority of people who agree are ones who grew up with the series and arent blinded by nostalgia

What ever goes wrong with the Solid Snake games? They always have some stupid ass futuristic bullshit thrown in. I feel as if Kojima has a easier time writing for the Big Boss games because they're a bit more grounded in reality, and not to mention the time periods are just more interesting in general.

There may have been a lot of cut scenes, but outside of that, the core game is excellent.
The mechanics are top-notch, we got :

>better movement (i.e. crouchwalking)
>good graphics
>gun porn (which wasn't necessary but it was fun)
>octocamo (no more pausing like MGS3)
>lots of easter eggs and shit

I didn't like Act 3 though.

Peace Walker isn't grounded at all. The tech is more impressive than stuff in MGS4.

Here's to hoping MGS5 has 2 endings--one which leads to the first Metal Gear and one which leads to an alternate canon.

Act 3 was shit. In fact all the rail shooting bits were shit.

The rest was pretty good though. I really enjoyed sneaking through all the broken buildings in act 1.

Nothing. The only "problem" was the fact that it was PS3 exclusive. I say "problem" because the gane was so fucking large that it simply wouldn't fit on a conventional CD-DVD. It only worked on Blu-ray, thus it couldn't come to X360.

The other "problem" is that some feel the cutscenes are too long. But I felt they were fine, Kojima went for a cinematic feel, and he got it. This doesn't prevent people from saying stupid shit like "MGS THE MOVIE, AMIRITE?", but what can I do?

Because the story was a dead end after 2. He wrote himself into a corner that Konami and his own fans were forcing him out of.

Afterwards, Konami gave him the funding to create his new game engine while allowing him to work on other projects such as Castlevania and Silent Hill. Getting a chance to play with his 'new toys' (Fox Engine), as well as work with high profile American celebrities like Keifer, Norman Reedus, Del Toro, etc. probably gave him a much needed boost of energy.
