ITT: We make bets on what Gamefreak will name the next Pokemon games after Z.
shit out 100 or so more poorly designed/rehashed pokemon and have you fight gym leaders who are weak as piss and then an elite 4 that is a pushover. they'll call it pokemon something. you'll buy both versions, which are the exact same.
Gamefreak like to "surprise" it's fans so they'll come out with salt and pepper in the same region afterwards.
So what you're saying is, the pokemon are friends to the boys and girls?
>But that's wrong. Each version has some differences and each generation has very nice innovation and changes.
All of which I'm sure are retained in future versions so you don't have pokemon have useless abilities, right?
And I'm sure the games are well balanced, right?
You're getting X2Y2. People bitched about there always being a third version with slight improvements, and so Gamefreak decided to change things up a bit. The standard now will be two main games, two remakes, then two "same gen" sequels before moving on to new Pokemon.
the games only have starters and 10 generic pokemon now
you have to buy the rest as amiibos
I love Pokemon but you gotta admit X and Y and ORAS was really weak
I feel like the soundtrack and the "Team-whatever" was weaker this time around in X and Y.
They also shove Mega Evolution into everything and it's fucking annoying.
ORAS borrows from a game with a great OST and all that, but I got real pissed that they were still knocking Mega Evolution around. Like, imagine if HGSS story had the physical/special split shoehorned into it.
X/Y were on the same level as D/P, as in the 3rd version can make it or break it
ORAS were solid, but the lack of BF really hurts them
At least Delta Episode was cool, secret bases as gyms are neat and Soar is a cool mechanic
"For example, if after Black and White we came out with a grey, people would have been expecting that," he said. "Same thing with X/Y and having a Z straight afterwards. So we're always just trying to surprise people."
They could make it so that the gym is run by whatever evil organization is present in the game.
Viridian City's gym was run by Team Rocket, so why not a Dark-type gym run by another group of villains?
B/W was better.
B/W2 felt forced as fuck and boring.
Ghetis again? This plan again? Splicing Pokemon fusion?
It wasn't a bad game, just shit story wise.
Then again, HG/SS was shit story wise as well
>playing Poke for the story
I know, I know, but damn, you gotta make something fun before you beat the game.
The plan wasn't even the same, Ghetsis went full mad and decided to freeze the region over using Kyurem, while lying (again) to the grunts and calling N a traitor
On that note, the whole fighting between Old Plasma and Neo Plasma was actually pretty good
The Splicing Pokemon Fusion made sense, Given that Zekrom, Reshiram and Kyurem were originally one entity, and that waspointed out even back in B/W, but it's kind of a dick move of GF to not show the real Original Dragon
Besides, B2W2 added tons of shit to Unova, like Pokewood, White Tree Hollow/Black Skyscraper, PWT, a few new areas, old areas got expanded and it was nice to see how everyone bar the protags from the last game were doing
All in all, i think it was a nice conclusion
I still find it terrible that you can never see the old protags again. All you get is a meeting with their heartbroken mother.
Who won't leave the house because she's afraid she'll miss them coming home.
Next Mainline game is going to be Amber/Jade and the region is going to be based off of Canada and the arctic.
Please, no. That Mega Evolution Deus Ex Machina in Origin ruined the whole thing.
I would LOVE a X2/Y2 sequel. FUCK YES, B2/W2 was fucking good.
>Who won't leave the house because she's afraid she'll miss them coming home.
God dammit man, that hurts way more than it should
Worst part is
datamining shows that you'd be able to fight them in PWT
Makes me wonder why the fuck did GF B-Tam pull that out
But Slowbro has a huge defense, meaning if his special stat is high (Which combines both special attack and special defense) he is the perfect offensive wall. Also, Abra evolutions can't learn Amnesia, which raises your special through the roof (Nowadays it just raises special defense). One amnesia and slowbro is unstoppable
I think he means the mega-evolution mechanic being forced into the ORAS plot is idiotic, and it would be like making the physical/special split a major plot point of HGSS. Game mechanics and story telling are two different things
Pokemon: Magic and Technology
Heaven and Hell.
Chocolate and Vanilla
Shit and Piss
Liquid and Solid
Autobots and Decepticon
Some third party group I don't know, Dinobots maybe.
Physical and Mental
Solar and Lunar
Male and Female
Cops and Robbers
Democrat and Republican
Love and Hate
Left and Right
Offense and Defense
Squares and Circles
Jehuty and Anubis
Come at me.
I know, I know. It's been said a billion times. But I think it needs the be repeated, for emphasis. The only bad plot in a pokemon game is one that you can't quickly skip through by spamming B while playing.
Curse you, Diamond and Pearl. You were unplayably slow. Why were they one second or more pauses after EVERY SINGLE TEXT BOX. HOLY FUCK
AND THE GOD DAMN POKEMON MOVIE STUDIO THAT IS THE GAYEST SHIT EVER
FUCK, GAMEFREAK I JUST WANT TO PLAY YOUR SHITTY CATCH 'EM ALL GAME I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS DRESS UP AND ACTING BULLSHIT
Pokemon Bionis and Mechonis
Wait, what? I know Metagross is Psychic type, thus weak to Dark, but Steel is no longer resistant? That's kinda dumb, steel type was already weak to the strongest types anyway.
So anyone think they'll ever bring back the HGSS mechanic where your lead Pokémon follows you around and doesn't come out of a Pokéball when battles start? I loved having deities follow me around like puppies.
I disagree, but I respect your opinion. The story was easily the best in the franchise, though that's not saying much, but the absolute linearity, lack of old Pokemon(while it was an interesting choice, I feel like it was a bad call in the end), and barren post-game really hurts it.
Unova does have the best music though, I'll give you that.
Yeah, it's immune to dragons and strong to dark and fighting, in addition to being weak to poison and steel, it balances out the types a bit more. They even retconned a few older Pokemon to be fairy types now, like Clefairy, Snubbull, Togepi and Gardevoir.
I'll give you the linearity, but I absolutely loved the lack of old pokemon until postgame. It made me feel like when I was playing pokemon back in the gameboy, with all the new monsters to find, and the new teams I had to come up with, since I didn't know how useful they were and stuff
The post-game was akin to D/P, except the battle tower got switched for Battle Subway, something you have access to midgame, so I wasn't that bothered by it
Now that I think about it, normally the main entries aren't that full of stuff to do in the post-game, the ones that do are the remakes/3rd versions/sequels
Masuda is going insane
The games that are not directed by him are usually easy to normal with some difficulty spikes, and even those entries sold well
I honestly don't get his logic and i hope he doesn't direct the next entry, otherwise it's all but confirmed that it will be a snoozefest with no challenge at all.
-XY was a nice way to transcend Pokemon into 3D. Not the console games, you don't do Pokemon on a console, period.
-GameFreak wanted to do remakes since Gen V and were hinting at it back then. But everyone predicted them to do such a thing, so they waited until the next Gen. Honestly, Black/White 2 was for the best.
-Gen I's mechanics were BROKEN. GameFreak can't code for shit. Green was even worse. You got a revision of an even worse game.
-The Pokemon designs are now more human-like, but at least they aren't actual humans like some of Gen I's were. Alien-like guardian>Monster-headed bodybuilder. And I like the two lines, mind you.
-An MMORPG is the worst thing GameFreak can do to the series. Realize that and stop looking to the anime for retarded ideas.
-Gen VII will be the starting point where Gen IV is now acceptable to like. Note how Gen III gets a pass last year?
-The designs will always be attacked for the new Pokemon. Always. Those fools either do it intentionally or actually think that Gen I/II Pokemon had groundbreaking designs.
-III=IV=V>VI>I>II. Gen II remakes are ass. Gen II in general are ass.
And I'm sick of>>276541740 being posted. Post the original version for fuck's sake. Or stop browsing on the family computer in the living room.
This image kinda sums up what's wrong with the new mons. They're so overdesigned, like quasi-yugioh monsters. The old ones (for the most part) were charming in their elegant simplicity.
I just want a pokemon game that brings snagging back, but just any pokemon. Even while battling friends. Just imagine the playground fights.
But seriously I think they could make snagging cool if they tried.
When are we going to get a little option when you start that says "I've played Pokemon before, give it to me hard doc"
And BAM, your Rival is shitting all over you with actual strategies.
3 actually. Karen just got introduced when there were barely any Dark types.
Either Nostalgia-fag or counting HG/SS as Gen II.
Why does everyone say this? I've replayed Pearl recently and the load times are decent.
Censoring the swear words. It was likely posted in Gamefaqs to avoid getting flagged/banned. /vp/ is predominately from Gamefaqs, underage and stupid. Remember all the porn dumps back then? Gamefaqs users getting a taste of freedom.
>missing the point that the different versions are to encourage people to do multi,
>assuming you're being swindled into buying 2 identical games
I just want another Post Game like the Emerald Frontier, not so much as a second region/area to explore.
I can't remember another one like the BF where it was challenging but not complete shit with AI hacks/cheats.
When Masuda gets his head out of his ass and realizes that most people that buy pokemon nowadays are people that have been buying pokemon from the beginning
But we all know that's not happening any soon
>Why does everyone say this? I've replayed Pearl recently and the load times are decent.
It has nothing to do with load times. Load times aren't even relevant in a cartridge. I'm talking about the fucking pauses after fucking EVERYTHING. Do an attack? Better wait at least a full second after the animation ends before the text tells you what happened. Get hit? Another wait. Finish a battle? Rev up that patience. Trying to talk to someone? I hope you got time, brother, because you're gonna be here for a while. You like waiting between every text box right? You like literally having time in the game where NOTHING
Happens and you have no choice but to wait, right?
Fuck that, brother. I'm not playing that garbage again.
Fuck I get mad just thinking about it. It's ridiculous
>hurr durr just increase the text speed in the options menu
DO YOU THINK THAT WASN'T THE FIRST THING I DID?
I actually kinda agree with that, well maybe except the first and last points that is.
Black White 2 had a challenge mode that was suppose to be harder.
I played BW2 Challenge on a rom hack and the AI was actually tough with their teams, moves, etc. Pic related, the second Gym.
That's the deal
Anything is hard if you do self-imposed challenges
I'm currently doing a run on Y that made the game nigh-impossible, but that doesn't mean Pokemon Y is hard
In comparison, Platinum and Black/White can be considered somewhat challenging, especially Platinum, because some teams can kick your ass if you're unprepared
Pokemon Blast and Pokemon Crash
>4 gyms and an elite 2
>Pokemon fusion, for 10 Pokemon
>silky smooth 20 fps
>65 New Pokemon
>2 new Pokemon available as pre-order DLC
>2 new Pokemon available only if you buy both versions and attach them to the same 3DS
>affordable price of $49.99 each
>post-game involves polishing a statue of a tower to make it look squeaky clean
Pokemon 1 and 0
Pokemon + and -
Pokemon Fruit and Vegetable
Pokemon True and False
Pokemon and Pokemoff
Pokemon Beat and Rhythm
Pokemon Cat and Dog
Pokemon Drama and Comedy
Pokemon Heads and Tails
Pokemon Audio and Video
Pokemon Stalactite and Stalagmite
Pokemon Square and Circle
>Have to beat the game first or receive it from someone else
What is even the point.
I have a question.
Why is everyone in the Pokemon universe retarded?
I mean, it's RARE as fuck to find a single person using 6 Pokemon in the newer games. Infact, I don't think anyone does except the champion and like one end game person who is stronger than the champion.
You find people all over with one Pokemon. Hell, you literally find people on victory road going to challenge the elite 4 with a single (underleveled) Pokemon.
How fucking dumb are these people? I mean, it's not hard to catch a Pokemon, and these people have more than enough money to buy a few Pokeballs considering you get more than enough money for beating them to buy a few (and you lose a small percentage of your money upon defeat).
Why don't these fuckers just catch some more Pokemon? I mean, even 5 fucking Magikarps increases your odds of winning and you can catch them at full health with a Pokeball.
I don't get it. The point was that Gen 5 Pokemon are "overdesigned" and don't look like animals, so I showed an image of a Pokemon that looks like an animal.
The overdesigned thing is really annoying, imo. Gyarados is really fucking overdesigned.
Because the games are made for kids who have ADHD and are also using laptops, tablets, phones.
They dont have the patience to train 6 pokes and probably just bumrush with an overleveled Starter + 1st/2nd route poke. So to make it fun for them, they scaled back trainers pokes considerably so they wont lose battles often
How is it bait? I'm serious. And don't be hitting me with outliers like Mr Mime and Jynx and shit. I did say :
>for the most part
2nd gen had a similar approach and introduced a lot of great new pokemon, but after that it was a slow downhill.
A lot of 'trainers' aren't trainers, they're just normal people. Normal people who really don't see any reason to have more than two Pokemon at a time. Plus, it's a game. When you get to the Ace Trainers(AKA the actual trainers), you see variety and challenge.
Rhyhorn is overdesigned. Though it was designed after Rhydon. Ironic, isn't it? Hell, on design, I'll take Haxorus over it just gets bigger. I didn't even know Pidgeot was a thing until the anime showed Ash's evolve. I thought it was a nickname for Pidgeotto. Again, people say Gen I had the best designs unironically.
Blastoise and Mewtwo are some other examples.
Think of it from a game perspective.
Fighting loads of trianers, all with 6 pokemon each, would take a lot of time and would get old really soon
From an universe perspective, see >>276548502
I don't think anon is asking for every single person you battle to have 6 highly-trained rape-trains, but it really would be nice to see larger team sizes in general. Fighting tons of people that only have one or two often unevolved pokemon gets just as boring and tedious.
I think the problem with the new Pokemon is that one can't really say on the first look what they are supposed to be or even depict.
Take a look at the top row:
A monster resembling slime, a pokeball reversed, eggs, a magnet.
The bottom row, however:
a three headed dragon from outerspace? a golem, hmm maybe. a ninja diver fighter? what the fuck is that?
>a three headed dragon from outer space
How the fuck did you come up with that
It's a hydra
>a golem, hmm maybe
no shit, what else would it be?
>a ninja diver fighter? what the fuck is that?
A shogun armor, primarly
It's an hydra that can give blowhandjobs, a golem, an edgy Kamen Rider and a dinosaur with an axeface. It's not hard at all to make out what they are, you might have brain problems.
