try EVE online. It's not really fun in the traditional sense. And there's a very slow startup. But once you get going, the game opens up beautifully, and you can join (or start) a corp and engage in pretty big shit.

Yeah, we just got awakened armors level 80 last patch. and so far a few awakened classes came out. Engineer/Warrior/Bard/Martial Artist/Blade Dancer/Knight/Mage. level caps now 100 but content is only up to level 80 atm. Theirs been tons of shit going on though, when aura kingdom hit, followed by the servers getting transferred to europe and the lazy as hell updates. tons of people left. Games still fun though. I actually found out about it upon release from /v/ everyone seemed to like the class system.

Problem with ArcheAge wasn't it's Korean nature, though that didn't help, it was the fact that Trion went full on shekelsucker mode. Literally all they've added to the game since launch has been cut beta content that they purposely held back and cash shop shit. And let me tell you, they've released a lot of cash shop shit. It's quite frankly one of the most, if not the most P2W games I've ever played.

Not to mention Trion has been a spewing sack of subtle shams ever since launch. They've lied about bans, they've lied about hacks, and they've lied about promises they made in advertisements they created. It's been a shit show, but not because it's Korean, but because Trion is completely and utterly inept. Hacks still run rampant in the game, Trion is still silent on everything barring new cash shop releases, and the game is stagnating like hell with only 2 max level dungeons to run and a bunch of useless sandbox shit that you have to pay ridiculous amounts of money to even start having fun in.

Wanna play ArcheAge? Better drop $150 on the starter pack so that you can reach max level and have some dosh to spend on the cash shop which is the best way to craft end-game gear and buy labor potions and extra character slots to use those labor potions. Better pay a sub and buy some gold from a gold seller because you're gonna be crafting like maniac due to the horrible RNG crafting system and ridiculously inflated economy due to gold selling and rampant hacking.

Fuckin Trion, it could have been a nice game, nothing revolutionary, but a fun waste of time between other games. But now it's just a terrible husk of broken promises and disgusting greed that stands on the remains of the dreams of what could have been.

This would be my choice. Ever since they tightened up the security slightly and nerfed the cashshop items its been pretty fun again. But not too much when you are playing it alone.

The game is essentially a kung fu movie MMO with an extremely PvP openworld. Caters to my megaman fetish by being able to collect fighting styles and shit. The combat is also pretty interesting, if not innovative, by taking the rock-paper-scissor mechanic and making it work without using RNG.

Yes, they made quite a few improvements since the beta days, but they also changed much of it for the worse in my opinion. The frame leveling up system is less original now, your progression is pretty much railroaded throughout the world, and thumpers are not nearly as useful as they were in beta. On the other hand, some of the quest board missions are pretty entertaining and Red 5 managed to add some fun group events. If only they had managed to keep the best of both worlds, I bet Firefall would be a much more popular game right now

Yes, there was not much to do in the beta beyond missions, thumping, and melding tornados. Thankfully this is the one aspect of the game that the devs have focused on since then. Between the board missions, the campain/story missions, the large-scale encounters which require a boatload of people, the event quests, and all the Chosen encounters, there's a reasonable amount of stuff to do (assuming you're about level 30, unfortunately the newbies can't do much beyond the board missions)

Dragon nest has way less 'same map' syndrome compared to vindictus and actually has good pvp. Vindictus has that weighty feeling though (like your attacks would actually be doing damage) and has less floaty movement.

It did, but the first months were incredibly fun, we were all beginners with no clue of what we were doing but the guild quickly became (in a few weeks) the second most populated guild on the server.
Basically we were many but all weak and we were trying to find trouble with stronger people, succeeding by outnumbering them.
The goons were also our rivals but total bros, sometimes we were sitting in the street chitchatting with them, learning from them, other time we were killing their afk vice leader by punching him for half an hour.

GW2 is still the best modern MMO on the market. It does everything right that /v/ claims to seek in an MMO but most of /v/ are dirty liars that don't even like MMOs at all beside the ones they played when they were like 12 years old and easily impressed.

I can stand around the old world in WoW where no one is and there's nothing to do and get the same experience as SWG.

If I have to "make" my own fun instead of being able to do whatever I want, it's a shit game. Leveling up in SWG is pointless if I can't kill some rewarding monsters at the end of it.

I miss the old Maplestory dice rolling feature. If you get lucky enough to get a perfect roll for a class then you don't waste it. It kinda encourage to play as something you normally wouldn't.

I still remember you only ever cap Dex at 20, lower is better but stat caps at the time would force you to put some points there anyway. If unfunded though then it was like Level x 2 = Dex and rest on Str. I loved the warrior classes.

Been thinking about trying out ArcheAge now that the servers aren't shitting themselves but i've heard nothing but bad things about it. Heard it's possible to to buy a sub with ingame currency though, so might try that out first before i decide whether i want to actually sub or not.

There's not point in typing up a rebuttal when your first post just shows you've never played a sandbox game in your life.

Sandbox games especially PVP ones are not barren landscapes with nothing to do. If you don't like a certain game because it doesn't handhold you or because it's based off the idea of competition between people to get resources,gear,dungeons,etc that's fine. But at least sound like you have an idea of what you're talking shit about.

Whut? I've "played" a shit ton of SWG. I regret almost all of it after playing WoW. Running around watching people lag and spamming knockdowns is not good PvP, even by MMO standards.

Whenever I ask someone who apparently loves SWG what they actually did when they had a fully templated character, they always get all flustered and indignant. Because there wasn't shit to do that was even remotely fun or challenging, it was all just grinding nightsisters and krayts. I sat on top of houses doing fightclubbing for most of the CU.

Making friends and roaming around and shit is all well and good, but not for 15 bucks a month to stand around in a virtual lobby. There's second life for that shit. SWG was a sandbox game in spite of itself. That is not what they were going for.

Rift, it got another expansion awhile ago and you can really tell Trion are trying to make people spend money instead of playing the game more.

I just started playing PSO2 because everyone kept saying it's pretty much entirely translated.

After I handed Guild Leadership to Stempow the fucker disappeared and left things to die. Some guys remade the guild as NoTrabbu and that existed for quite awhile - although I don't think the numbers where ever as high as in the early days due to the Stempow fuckery.

NoTrabbu kinda reunited a bit in Swordsman Online under the Goon tang clan but everyone realized that game was shit and dropped it. Next chinagame that comes out it will probably reform, like Goon Tang Clan does.
