The left side of the image depicts a western game mage. The right side of the image depicts an eastern game mage. Which mage design is better and
why is it eastern?
>uses the dark mage as an example
Nice one dingus.
Both honestly have their good elements. It doesn't matter which is better because that's honestly subjective. The western example show how western design can make the viewer feel like the character has seen some shit. The eastern example shows the characters confidence in their skills, and their ability to throw other off their game in the heat of battle. I like both for different reasons, why should I have to choose?
>casually sexualizing characters
you either do sex casting or you just don't make a character eye candy.
a fucking wizard would think better than going around half naked, unless the lore gives a good reason.
>Expecting someone from a hot desert climate to wear heavy robes and get all sweaty and shit.
the better question here is
which colour of magic is the best and why is it Blue.
>can counter everything
>use your enemies abilities against them
They have magic, they can do whatever the fuck they want. Or be like Witcher's mages that make themselves into the most perfect looking people around because they want and can do that.
too few games allow the traditional pointed wizard hat.
Why doesn't your Dark mage wear a comfy sweater?
What does the anti-spell fragrance smell of?
>Being the college equivalent of mages
Go Blue or Go home, Blue mages are the Wildback aussies of magicians
I'm pretty sure she spends most of her time in dark basements brooding over books and magic circles anyway.
They're entirely different, western guy looks like he's ready for a pursuit of knowledge and battle, right looks like she's going to spout some anime cliches.
Not that that's a bad thing, they're just very different.
except the western mage comes from a game with more serious and mature overtones while the eastern mage comes from a fantasy game directed at teenagers that want to see nekkid ladies
black garment absorbs heat making it inefficient even if it is light and thin
it would have been much better to be white robes with lots of shade to better adjust to a hot and dry desert climate.
it's a poor choice climate wise but it fits the dark mage thematically.
Funny thing about this.
ArenaNet is an American company, yet most of their concept and promotional art was outsourced to Eastern artist like RuanJia.
I'm not sure about wizards/mages, but I'm sure as fuck that japanese ninjas are always better than western ninjas.
TMNT can suck a cock, so can every "I just wore black pajamas" motherfucker, and sub-zero is a twat
I miss when FE character designs weren't anime bullshit.
Like they were anime, but not "anime" anime.
But it's part of the official Dark Mage code to wear black and edgy things, she has no choice.
And aren't Burkha's usually black despite usually being worn in the hottest of climates?
I don't care if he's subpar compared to his potential children, he will always be in the field of battle as a true bro and ladies' man
say what you will about it's shit graphics, poorly designed cities and delivered dialogue, and overall unimpressive state once the initial hype wears off. it is still, for all intents and purposes, a fairly serious fantasy game with intrigue and mature overtones.
I was never a fan of Awakening's art style/character designs to begin with though. The colors are super bland, the art seems less expressive, and the class designs make me cry. The GBA/SNES-era art and characters are much more colorful and lively.
and you're absolutely right, it doesn't SOUND or FEEL or LOOK good, but the INTENT behind the game was to be a serious and mature game, based on the art and story of the game itself. talk semantics all you want, you can't argue against what the foundation of the game is, even if it was so poorly executed it could be mistaken for a lighthearted JRPG. skyrim makes the attempt to be serious and mature, even you can see that just from the concept art and style alone.
Now post how she really looks like in game.
I just got Awakening. Is she essentially Lute 2.0? Who is Artur 2.0? or Ross 2.0?
Yeah she's basically Lute 2.0
Ross 2.0 = Donnel
Ewan 2.0 = Rickens
Artur 2.0 = uhh there really isn't designated light magic classes so probably Miriel again. they heavily casualized the magic aspect of the game, there's only anima magic and dark magic
That eastern literally has no ass. This is why asians shouldn't model women.
>left is a wizard
>right is a sorceress
Gee its almost like the sorceress is using revealing clothing to gain bonuses on their seduction check that they already have high charisma for. Learn to synergy faggots
No, because there are varying degrees of anime bullshit.
The common image of a wizard is inspired by Gandalf.
Gandalf is inspired by how Odin dressed and acted while he was wandering the world.
Wizards are literally Odin.
>TMNT is Japanese
>No it isn't, pointy hats and beards have been around for fucking centuries.
Man, /v/ is fucking retarded.
That left design is immensely stale and flavorless.
>SO EASY TO DIGEST
>LITERALLY NOTHING BUT A FADED BROWN ROBE AND A GLOWING STICK!
Is this what people say is good design? Because that is utterly appaling. If you're a fucking wizard/mage/whatever, you aren't dressing as if you're attempting to hide in a swamp while sniping tangos with your bow and arrow. You dress in exactly whateve lavish garments you enjoy, because the second you cast a spell, your edgedark cover is blown. Not to mention those exposed knees and fuzzy boots contrast on the idea of where he is. Is it cold enough to validate the boots? Why aren't you wearing pants? Is it hot enough where pants are needlesy heavy? Why are you wearing thick fucking boots?
Western designers get too much of a pass for subtlety when making garbage designs. The sorceress on the right is doing her job perfectly. Lingerie, a robe, and sandals. If she's anywhere hot, she's dressed light as fuck. It'd be dumb to see her anywhere cold, but "Magic" can deal.
A mage is supposed to take years to learn their magic. They're supposed to be neckbearded faggots when they have power worth bragging about.
In anime-land you'd assume a mage literally masters the craft by the time they hit 17, unless they explain it away with "I only look like a little girl I'm really 9000 years old!"
Besides, that whores outfit is more fit for a very specific
lewdtype of mage, not the classic fireballs and ice walls type.
Shit really bugs me.
Because western devs are tryhard lore fags that think everything needs to be super deep and meaningful. Sometimes I just want something silly and fun. Fuck. Not every character needs to be out of a 70's metal video.
And that's why The Witcher is the best setting and you're a fucking idiot because any self-respecting mage that's actually written like a human being and not some retarded neckbeared cliche will be able to use magic plastic surgery and fucking make use of it too to look as young as they want no matter how long it took them to learn.
How about posting proper TES wizards that at least know how to Memospore instead of shitty Winterhold faggot?
>A mage is supposed to take years to learn their magic. They're supposed to be neckbearded faggots when they have power worth bragging about.
You assume this automatically means they should be unattractive in all ways, as well as have literally no sense of self beyond magic mastery. If you have magic, you just blow your beard off if you don't like it, you increase endurance and build your physique. Mastery != Lack of focus on the rest of life's events.
The one on the right is a dark sorceress in a desert who is obsessed with magic and spends day and night experimenting on people. Just because she isn't some landwhale doesn't mean she has no magical abilities.
I think both can work. I kind of like D&D's approach, where that's the big difference between a sorcerer and a wizard. A sorcerer is someone born with the gift of magic. Magic comes naturally to them.
A wizard is someone with no natural potential or affinity for magic. Instead, they've dedicated their lives to the study of magic, and are usually a bit more flexible because of it. Wizards are also the kind of people who become liches eventually.
Liches don't become liches to do evil, but simply to get more time to study and learn, and have cast away everything else in the process.
>obtained untold tomes of esoteric knowledge through decades of maddening study and arcane research
>wields the primal forces of the universe and knows more then you could possibly comprehend
>looks and dresses like anything other then a weird bearded lunatic
weeb pls go
and take your shit chinese cartoons with you
>not embracing Pratchett's wizard as a best design
Completely no taste. Look, even Ridcully is disguisted.
>inb4 "not vidya"
Check for Discworld video games, faggots.
I like Discworld's approach where wizards are fat fucks that eat and sleep all day and occasionally accidentally unleash abominations from the dungeon dimensions and nobody can tell them to stop because they're basically untouchable.
>obsessed with magic and spends day and night experimenting on people.
More like obsessed with making weebs blow their loads. We both know why she's drawn that way, let's not play games.
The only load she wants to see being blown is the protagonist's, and only in her direction.
Well sure, Discworld wizards are neat and all, but I do like to have more serious settings every once in a while as well.
You don't get it, women shouldn't even be mages, I know this is a work of fiction but it's beyond suspending your disbelief to buy into a female magic user. Magic requires intelligence which women lack. The female gender is more suited to roles that employ their leech-like behavior, dishonesty and absolute amorality and lack of honor.
A female mage is like a negro scientist.
I didn't fucking mean he'd act like a neckbeard, just have a bitching ass one. They're supposed to be old, likely a bit weathered from the intense training. Not some flawless super model.
Again I'm not saying they become absorbed by their studying(though frankly with the power magic bestows upon someone, it WOULD make sense it's an all-or-nothing craft. but in most fantasy worlds it just isn't).
But should they be flawless semen demons? Nope. It makes it look like there's no effort in it at all, which makes zero fucking sense. Unless you explain it away like you're just born with some great sense of it and take to it like it's nothing. In which case shitty mage, would not roll.
Yeah, that's a good point. The difference between the two within a single setting. But if we're comparing specific settings, Eastern mages on the whole OFTEN feel really effortless in comparison. That's what I was getting at, since the OP is about comparing the two and choosing between them.
Not in anime-land. You can call down meteors by the time you're six years old. That's pretty bitching, right?
A mage with those traits won't go far. Not nearly far enough.
Better mage design than both, right here
Yeah, the whole point of the Univeristy is to make them not do too much. Whenever wizards actually get off their asses in Discworld, you usually don't want to be anywhere near them. Or maybe you want to be as close as possible.
It's hard to tell what's the best course of action, as even the wizards themselves hardly know what they're going to do.
Trees don't wear plate either, yet here we are.
Fun Fact about Pretty Blonde Sapphic Mesmer there: there's about an 80% chance those clothes are illusions and she's either only in her skivvies and shoes or nothing at all.
Kasmeer is either really weird (so, basically, a typical Mesmer) or a huge slutball. Maybe both.
He isn't pimping out his daughters/clones to anyone, he is fucking them themselves only...and maybe he lets Yagarn get a handjob sometimes though it would be strange to get handjob from female clone/daughter of your best friend.
Each clone has their own personality and all that too, so perfect harem, including that one awkward girl who starts cumming like crazy when he treats her dirty even though she is pure as fuck
>Yes. Well. Not 'wife' in the 'married' sense. But... you know. 'Paramour.' 'Consort.' Something like that. It's a bit awkward, really. Because... well... he made us, too, so, though we aren't really his daughters or anything, it's LIKE we were his daughters. Because he made us. You see?
What? You mean as in Elder Scrolls Hist?
Yeah, I guess it's kind of like that, except his origins are that of evil spirits sealed within a single tree, twisting itself into Exdeath after years of imprisonment.
But yeah, he's a walking, talking, plate-armored, spellcasting tree.
Because with the abundance of "cool" designs that we get all the time and by "cool" I mean like the main character in Shadow of Mordor for instance, instead of looking like a plain ranger he has glowing eyes, a demonic looking arm and shit.
Because we get so much of this stuff, seeing something go back to basics in a while, especially when it's featured in a game that is overall more over-the-top, it stands out and makes it neat.
Seeing the new star wars trailer and seeing the basic X-wing and stormtrooper designs again but in a modern film made my dick rock hard. Same principle. That's my theory on it anyway.
No, it's a pretty good example. Aside from the skirt that's a little too short for medieval times, Mist's outfit is pretty harmless. The patterns like on her sleeves are seen on many other characters but the blue neckerchief makes her look a bit memorable. Just an innocent little sister archetype.
Meanwhile what the fuck is up with every aspect of Lissa's outfit? What is that skirt cage and why does it have spikes? What is up with that headdress? Why is the wearing an apron like a chambermaid if she's a princess? Nothing in her design gets the point across who or what she is meant to be or what role she plays.
This is so fucking retarded.
In all ancient cultures, in all tales about magic users, there were always female magic users, and a lot of magical deities are females.
Why do you think that witches appear in every culture, you idiot?
Eastern is better because they make models I can rubby rub my penis to and make the feel good juice come out :^)
Western designs are booooorrringgg, give me biggy big big boobies and puffy vulvas like the real man I am :^).
Yeah, I've always loved his design.
I also think he's a really neat character in Dissidia, being slow as fuck outside of teleporting and being based on countering everything.
kinda wished they used one of his other hats.
99% of games would be better in Rule 63
Prove me wrong.
