I don't know much about it though, i'm just running with smg because i've always played q3a/ut2k4 and i'm feeling bad when camping. And it seems that camping is basically core of gameplay there.

The gunplay and skill of the game basically revolves around "aim for the head, learn the spray patterns". It's stupid, boring and very dumbed down compared to other FPSs. The only appeal of the game are the tactics involved, and it is surely very overrated.

To me COD is a more dumbed down counter-strike. Counter Strike is a dumbed down unreal tournament/quake. I can't see how somebody could find counter strike's gunplay even remotely satisfying. If it wasn't for it's gamemodes, grenades and tactics, it would be a 5/10 at best.

Learning the spray patterns is easy and I never said that there is rng involved.
CS's gunplay revolves almost exclusively around aiming and reflexes. Compare that to UT, where additionally dodging and predicting the enemy's position is a huge part of the gameplay.

There are people on /v/ who defend the RNG mechanics and think it requires more skill than Quake. Let that sink in for a minute.

The game is incredibly easy to below MGE or DMG, since if you have any amount of FPS ability, you'll just out DM everything and rape.

You have to have parkinsons to make it to silver, even in solo queue.

The DM skill cap is incredibly low though, after 500 hours you should master the spread of most guns and at that point the only way to get better is to learn to play with a team better.

It honestly depressed me how it seemed like my 500 hours of playing and practicing in late 2012-early 2013 seemed futile. The game seemed a lot more skill-based than RNG-based back then. Stutterstepping allowed for more playstyles. And first shot accuracy made 1 tapping viable, and actually made it possible to effectively counter AWPs. Now, after huge gameplay changes, both of these mechanics are practically nonexistent. The game is a lot more random now, a lot of "skill" now is just learning to spray in the general direction of players, not learning to precisely hit them. I might just be rambling, since I went from LEM to MG2 after taking a break, but it just doesn't feel right. ScreaM suffered from this change in mechanics too from what I've heard.

It's definitely more skill based than a lot of the shooters around today. But a lot of the skill in the game is just "shit you have to know" rather than actual mechanical skill or decision making like ASSFAGGOTS, then there's all the RNG and guesswork you have to deal with. And with it being a team game it's fucking awful to play online.

Also, even though it has improved since it's release, it's still a huge step down from 1.6. It's impossible to tell where your bullets are actually going and movement is still fucked. Not to mention the CZ and alt weapons fucking with game balance.

You just don't understand what Counter Strike is about. It's not that CS doesn't require skill, but it's capped out at a much lower point for a majority of the guns and the slow pace of the game dumbs it down even more. Even if you compensate perfectly for a pattern, or even fire a single first shot at someone outside of point blank range, there is a significant chance the bullet will not travel exactly where you're aiming it.
