What are some good indie games /v/?
Just finished this, expected 2deep4u retro shit but it was a really tight game with some nice tunes.
What are you looking for?
Just something interesting and unusual?
I'm not really sure what to recommend unless you give me a better idea than "good". I could probably name a number of indie games that are good for various reasons, but that doesn't mean you'd like them just because of that.
Electronic Super Joy
Retro City Rampage
Volgarr the Viking
Thomas Was Alone
There's tons of good ones, but this is all I can think of right now.
>The Battle for Wesnoth
Turn-based strategy game.
Similar to Fire Emblem & Advance Wars.
It's open-source and has huge replayability.
>Monaco: What's Yours is Mine
4 player co-op heist game. Pacman meets Metal Gear Solid. If you like the movie "Ocean's Eleven" where they rob a casino, you'll love this game.
The similar retro themed and adrenaline-pumped music to vvvvvv would be Super Hexagon.
The indie games I highly recommend are:
>Hotline Miami (Sequel is coming out; hyped)
>Terraria (A lot of fun playing by yourself, and crazy fun with friends)
>Risk of Rain
>Binding of Isaac (I suggest waiting for the Rebirth edition to be on sale)
>Don't Starve (Free multiplayer patch is coming)
It's really good, if you're into the kind of gameplay it has.
It's got a free demo on Steam, I'd recommend giving it a shot.
It's also short as fuck, though. My first non-100% playthrough took just about 2 hours.
But it isn't even done yet. Why does EVERYONE fail to understand that games take a LONG FUCKING TIME to make? Early Access games just let you get to watch that long (boring-ass and unfulfilling) process.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Age of Empires 2 + The Conquerors
Shadow of the Colossus
Final Fantasy Tactics
Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together
Fire Emblem was published by Nintendo, e.g.
It just looks like a list of games you like, really.
It's weird, yeah. I guess it's assumed most people on /v/ have played those already.
>Fire Emblem was published by Nintendo
And developed by Nintendo too. Independent, you see.
>It just looks like a list of games you like, really.
Yes, that seems to be the point of the thread. Posting indie games you like.
Yeah, sorry about that. Read Intelligent Systems and didn't notice they were part of Nintendo.
You're still kind of being anal about the subject, though. You know what OP meant by "indie", and I think everybody here has already figured out indie and independent have come to mean slightly different things these past few years. You're not opening anybody's eyes, if anything you're just flaunting your knowledge of something obvious.
I went through first 3 like levels and got bored.
Will it offer more variety or it's always a "shoot a boring magic into the boring enemies and get a boring powerups on levelup"?
>You know what OP meant by "indie"
Indie games, I assumed.
>have come to mean slightly different things these past few years
I always thought indie means indie. Indie not meaning indie would be pretty damn stupid and I don't feel the need to act stupid just because there are some ignorant people out there.
>you're just flaunting your knowledge of something obvious
Flaunting? OP made a request and I tried to help him.
You came in to a thread recommending games that everyone and their fucking grandma has heard of to make a really fucking inane point.
You are being pedantic and you are a boring cunt.
We get it, they're technically indie games. But when someone asks for an FPS you don't say Doom.
I didn't come to make a point. I came to list good indie games, as OP requested. If that's inane, you shouldn't even be in this thread. It's not my fault that you're simply less intelligent than grade schooler, people have to spoonfeed things to your retarded ass, and when they do you find it pedantic somehow.
>someone asks for an FPS you don't say Doom
You do, if you consider Doom a good FPS game.
>You do, if you consider Doom a good FPS game.
God you're a fucking moron.
>I want a sports game!
>I want a platformer!
>The Mario games are pretty cool.
>I want an indie game!
>Try Shadow of the Colossus
>a simple question opening a thread, no context or tone to it
>you shouldn't be recommending good games even though he asked for it because of my super hidden meanings!!!
Just how far along the fucking 'tism spectrum are you?
or more like
>engage in introspection
>realize they're embarrassingly fucking stupid
>be glad that you're not subhuman shit like them and don't "rethink your approach" just because they are
Oh I ain't mad, in fact I'm about to get some breakfast so I'm doing good. But that won't change that you're a smug little piece of shit who wouldn't get invited to his own funeral. See you around
I think it's the ingame artstyle that puts people off.
The only really good thing about rogue legacy are the super bosses.
Which is ironic because by their very definition they betray the core tenet of the game.
I can't fucking beat the super version of the fire one that chases you around and leaves balls of fire behind.
Magical Battle Festa. It has loli too. The perfect combo for a video game.
>Cave Story (sidescrolling shooter with a heavy emphasis on story and gameplay both)
>Freedom Planet (Sonic the Hedgehog x Megaman X)
>Skullgirls (fighting game with sexy girls)
>Momodora (sidescrolling platformer)
>Dust: An Elysian Tail (Metroidvania hack n slash about furries)
>UnderTale (RPG about a dude who falls in a cave)
>Oneshot (RPGMaker game about a cat who wakes up in another world)
You need an xbox controller, but this game is the shit
