You can either play Ys the Oath in Felghana, which is the best Ys game with infinite replayibility, or you can play Ys Seven, which gives you a great sense of adventure accompanied by awesome music.

Personally I recommend you start with Ys Seven or Ark of Napishtim first to get familiar with the feel of Ys games, lest you become those cynics who condemn Ys Seven and Celceta as shit because party system is easier than Napishtim battle system.
