I need your help /v/
I refuse to buy games that break these rules:
no day one dlc
no pre-order bonuses/exclusives
no meddling in reviews
no DRM similar to uplay
im also against pirating (hurr durr whatever, dont make the thread about this)
because of this i dont have anything to play, what are some games you guys recommend?
For PC only please
I keep trying to play warframe but an error keeps coming up in the launcher- something about it not being able to connect to the internet
ive considered the forest but last time i checked it was buggy as hell
>For PC only
Easy peasy, mate, try-
>No DRM similar to uplay
Not a problem, I know loads of game withou-
>No day one DLC
>No pre-order bonuses/exlusivses
Well, that's hard but there's-
>No meddling in reviews
Yeah, no. There's nothing. Enjoy not playing vidya I guess.
now you understand my world
its so hard to find new games to play these days
you at least know how to fix warfame? ive never played it before and it looks fun ;__;
not on steam mate
>out of warframe webms
it sucks how the industry is in such shit state that there are barely any games that aren't anti-consumer
im wary but not completely turn-off by them, i mentioned how i was interested in the forest but im not sure if its worth the price in its current state
anything that isnt uplay or GFWL
>running out of non-porn webms
>because of this i dont have anything to play, what are some games you guys recommend?
Find a new hobby because gaming is only going to get worse and no amount of boycotting on your part can save it now.
fuck this shit reminds me of the old counter strike human ladder shennanigans
"i have to try..."
you really think its worth $30?
World of Tanks, Robocraft, Alpha Protocol, Bioshock 1+ 2, Dead Island, Campany of Heroes 2, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Europa Univeralis IV, FEAR, Fallout New Vegas, Heroes and Generals, Max Payne, Mount and Blade Warband, Sleeping Dogs, Space Hulk Ascension, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, The Witcher series.
Oh god I actually may have a game for you. Valkyria Chronicles. It's good if you aren't anti-animu art style.
It's a port of an old game to PC which is why they didn't mess with any ridiculous shit like day 1 DLC or preorder exclusives
>2) Accept some of these evils and enjoy vidya
Maybe he wouldn't like most of the games which are evil anyway. I mean look at so many of them. Ass Greed. Cawwadooty. Dattlefield, etc. Not necessarily fun for everyone.
Honestly anon, lower your standards. When it comes to Day 1/Preorder DLC, just wait until the game gets cheap enough to buy the DLC and the game for what the game cost at release (or cheaper, I usually don't get games for about a year since I usually won't spend more than $20 on anything.) That way you've spent no additional money and the publisher loses out on first-week sales which are the most important.
UPlay really isn't that bad. I agree, I don't like more DRM than just Steam but for some games it's worth it. The minor inconvenience is worth it to play Far Cry/Blood Dragon for $10 together.
i havent played sleeping dogs yet, are you sure it doesnt break any of da rules? and whats EULA, is that like GFWL?
blood dragon was rad though, first and only time i used uplay- ive forgotten the password now
This is actually a fairly good point. How can you play a F2P game which is designed almost entirely around selling DLC?
Yup. ACIV is also great on PC and both can be had cheap enough to get around the inconvenienve of UPlay.
as i said, ive never been able to play warframe because of the update error, and its free to play
assassins creed black flag broke the other rules though
people say stalker shadows of cherrynoble is good, but every time i try an old game i cant get into it- dark messiah is an example
I get that but you can get it on sale in the $10 range. At that point, the DLC issues go out the window. The only remaining hurdle is UPlay and it's really not a big impact. I get the principle but you're denying yourself a good experience for...what exactly?
Well anon, I can't argue with some fucked up sense of justice or whatever. All I can say is that you're making life hard for yourself by making all these rules. You can deny them the crucial initial sales, save yourself $15-20 bucks and use that to buy the DLC they intended to be a cherry on top for a sum that comes out to the same as buying new. That should help you in justifying the day one DLC by essentially not buying it separately.
The UPlay thing I can't help with. It's not a terrible service but yeah, it's an annoying extra layer. At super low prices though, eventually it's better to cave in and consider that at least you're not bound to a console instead which, in my opinion, is a much worse form of "DRM." Plus it's usually more expensive on consoles.
