Play P3rd HD with fan translation on psp emulator, it's the better of the two emulatable 3rd gen games. Way easier to get into than FU.

Some of the best fun I've had was playing Freedom Unite. I even played Tri long after multiplayer was disabled but still had fun.

I just did my first Lagiacrus mission in 3U. I was dissapointed that it didn't let me kill it, just scare him away, since I already killed a few online on my first few days with the game and I was pretty confident, but I still got to cut his tail. It was satisfying.
Also I decided to try the longsword and discovered they made it more powerful since MHF2, the last MH I played. Shit's awesome.

sharpness gauges deflects. you always want to be at green or higher in sharpness although just starting the game you'll prob be at yellow. high sharpness lvls give a dmg boost to attacks.


as far as better weps it depends. for example a hammer/GS bro are probably looking for raw damage. on the flip side SNS/DS bros might be looking for a high elemental or status damage. shouldnt really worry about sharpness until you hit g rank. just have a green sharp weapon or better.

I'm using GS on MH3U, which armor set should I work towards since I just got into G-Rank?
I used a standard Wroggi set for all of Low rank and most of High Rank since I didn't bother much with armors, but I figure now is a good a time as any to actually get an armor set that has all skills that benefit GS like Quick Draw, but I don't know which set has that.

Ah, yes. FU is so hard to get into. It made me give up when I started, then P3rd got me hooked. Went back and finished FU after I completed nearly everything in 3U. I say try P3rd before going on. It's easier, but that's because the hitboxes aren't insane.

That totally depends on your play style man, if you want to do hit-and-run you'd want quick sheath and punish/quick draw, if you want to do big damage get handicraft, fast charge and any damage boosting skill.
Remember, GS is all about timing. Learn your weapon and when to slam it into a monsters face

What hr are you? Make valkyrie and get it on the Rathalos upgrade path, try to upgrade the golem blade too if possible

From what I remember the Golem blade only has yellow sharpness, so it bounces off of shit a lot. I'd reccommend upgrading to anything that has better than yellow sharpness at least. Although I'm not super familiar with the game myself, only have ~60 hours in it.

I just got to lvl 5 quests. not sure how far away I am but I'm assuming I'm close since cha cha dipped out on me to fight him.

it upgrades to the blade of talos but it still has yellow sharpness. from experience with the golem blade it can get kind of annoying just bouncing off shit.

Do you have the MH3GDex?
It lets you search through different weapons and their upgrade paths. It might help in finding some good weapons you want to end up using.

Higher chance of scoring a crit that deals full damage+the percentage of affinity your weapon has. Let's say you have Pale Kaiser with 1256 attack and 40% affinity, a crit gives you 1256 damage+40% of 1256 damage
Same goes for negative affinity, let's say you have Cera with 1488 atk and -30% aff, same thing but reduced damage
