One of the things I remember was my dad taking me and my brother to see the Pokemon movie. Even at 10 I knew the Pikachu's Vacation or whatever was dumb and couldn't wait to get to the real movie.
Also my dad collected Pokemon cards himself and took us back four fucking more times so we could keep getting the cards they handed out.

We only went to the 2000 movie twice and I haven't seen any of the other ones. Did they suck?

I want to be Lyra. No, I mean, I really REALLY want to be Lyra. It's a feeling that I got sometime after HG/SS were released. I don't know what it is, but I feel drawn to her. Anytime I see something with her, I automatically feel myself self-inserting into her character. Even if it's some weird shipping thing. I really really liked watching the Lyra episodes of the anime at one point and HG/SS is the only game where I felt like I could really "role-play" as the character, just because I could be Lyra. I didn't think Johto was that great before, but the inclusion of playing as Lyra makes me want to play it again and again. When playing I feel like I'm actually being Lyra than playing a game. I do weird stuff while doing it, or at least stuff most people probably wouldn't normally do. I call some of the npcs pretty frequently, as if they were friends. I go for walks with the Marrill pretty often to visit npcs. After going on a pokesho beige one time I wound up semi-stalking Morty.

The feeling was so strong during the end of 4th gen and early 5th gen. It faded a bit over time, but it still presents itself whenever I see Lyra posted anywhere, even now. I feel like I feel everything Lyra does. I want to be her, I need to be her. I'm connected to her somehow.
