Slippy also made the Blue Marine, and anytime someone flies in front of you to show you a path through obstacles in the level that makes hidden power-ups appear, it's pretty much always Slippy.
Also, in the original game, the team mate that needs help is totally random, and in Star Fox 64 Peppy needs saving more often.

Falco on the other hand shows you a hidden path through a waterfall in a single level in Star Fox 64 if you save him after he royally fucks up, and that's pretty much it.

And all Peppy does is tell you controls.

In Smash Bros. Brawl Falco is king of the skies and is pretty tough and fast too.

In Star Fox his attitude makes him cool and his comic added to his character.
But what is his relation to Katt? They don't explain it much and leave it ambiguous.

I don't know how well an item shop would work in a short replayable game like Star Fox. Having it persist all the time wouldn't be good because you have to grind, essentially, to get the good ship parts to start scoring at your best. But making it not persist means that the upgrades don't have as much time to really matter.

I'm not sure how it would work well. Any bonus weaponry or something like a perk would work better as an item to grab in-stage rather than a shop.

However a shop for aesthetic ship customization would be nice.

If it was not clear, for controls I meant just the way it moved. Slightly faster turning and such.

Just, Aquas did a perfectly respectable job of being frantic in a different way I think. Movement was slow, but there were more enemies and space constraining obstacles packed into smaller areas than in every Arwing level, and you were constantly locking on to things and firing torpedos.

I definitely agree with this, but I think that it could do something similar but at a faster pace as well. More enemies and obstacles could be incorporated into a faster pace, and the locking on-part could probably as well.

Mainly I just think that while Aquas was nice, there could be a lot of fast-paced action to be had in an underwater planet as well.
