Uploading the file now, be about 10 mins.

Gameplay wise, you can use either a controller or mouse+keyboard. I have a generic controller and for some reason the game does not recognize it, so had to go with mouse+keyboard

You move with wasd, Q does something, E and the mouse wheel can scroll through your ranged weapons after you pick some up. You can only hold 2 at a time. R shows you how many artifacts? special glowing items? that you find in this dungeon throughout the demo. The game does not actually tell you what anything is, how it works, ect. Left click swings your sword, which you also have to aim with the mouse, which can be a pain in the ass at times. Right click shoots your ranged weapon.

This wall I'm shooting at is messed and you can clip through it to fall to your death. There's a few other walls like this so be careful. Well if you dont hug the wall looking for secrets you should be fine. FYI there are no solid looking walls with secrets.

Though I think the lack of music is to help create the atmosphere. Its more like a lot of ambient sounds than actual music most of the time.

Yeah but if they are done well, its not an issue. Part of the reason big AAA companies can't even afford to make 1-2 bad games is mostly because the graphics have gotten so crazy, production costs are through the roof. I feel like more companies should be rolling back to sprite graphics and make some good 2D games. Amazing graphics are nice but it can be costly if it does not sell millions.

K figured it out. In case there's anyone out there with a similar setup it seems that my DS3 controller was the culprit; it seems the game disables keyboard input when it detects a controller but for some reason it can't pick up a virtual/emulated/whatever 360 controller properly. In my case I'm using the SCP server method, so I actually had to go into services and shut it down for the game to finally give me back keyboard control.

Some other info about the controls.

You can charge your sword attack. You can dash into a sword attack. You can dash indefinitely if you keep the timing correct.

Doing a certain amount of successful hits with a weapon (sword, pistol, shotgun, ect) will give you a power up for the next 3 attacks you use with that weapon. This power up stays with that particular weapon until you use it 3 times or until you die. So if you get your sword powered up and want to save it for bigger enemies, just use your ranged weapons. If one of your ranged weapons get powered up and you want to save it, switch to your other ranged weapon.

First blush impression: as I expected from the screenshots, navigation can be somewhat disorienting because there's not enough contrast/shape definition between the PC and the environment, or really even within the environment itself(delineations between rooms, etc.) Also I'm peeved that there doesn't appear to be a windowed mode because I have this weird thing where I don't like pixel games in fullscreen

How does the game play with a controller? My PS2 controller doesn't seem to work, so I've been playing with KB+M. It's a bit finicky at first, especially due to the fact that you dash in the direction of the mouse, rather than in the direction you're going which leads to a lot of dashing off cliffs or into enemies

Once you get used to it it's pretty good, though. The gameplay is really simplistic but feels quite satisfying. Looking forward to the full release.

What is this game? But thoughts

The art style is fine and some of the stuff (decaying robot statue of liberty in background, giant robot heart) are pretty cool, but the game suffers from 'is this the ground or not' syndrome' The floor, the backdrops, it is not segregated very well in many areas

Falling resets you to the beginning of that area with the area reset as well, if you say, fall down a hole while going for the secret shiny at the end of the room and then have to go through it all again because of it? not fun.

The aiming on controller (it recc'd it so I used it over m+kb) is ass
However the spread/shottygun is quite nice and I liked it

The balance between sword and shotty seemed kind of off, there was almost never a point where sword was the better option (except in the arena room where the issue of running out of charge was a possibility)

The gameplay is real slow
The music is kind of nonexistent
the game was far too easy, and this is even if you ignored all the health containers everywhere

Walls are not very well stated, there were many parts that looked like they might lead to hidden areas but nope, wall

Things were not clearly defined, what the hell does the red/black obelisk do? It shows my two subweapons but what can I do with them there?

The alpha demo is okayish

Not something to be excited about unless they put in some real hard work into improving this

My main issue still stands though, fears from the first time I saw the gameplay demonstration. The combat is really slow. It has a good baseline, but everything feels like it could be faster. and other than that, as >>266352396 said, there isn't much point in using the sword other than for style.

I think one reason the combat feels so slow is because you have to play it safe. Like this game isn't difficult but you can die very quickly if not careful. So you play it safe, sit back and shoot stuff. I did a few sections where I was just dashing around slashing everything.

It feels pretty good but the dashing can be chaotic. Needless to say I died quite a few time dashing off the edge. Once I get better at aiming it will be pretty awesome.

There is no way to tell whether you'll hit a wall or scroll onto a new part of the area, meaning it sometimes seems to be 'hump the wall and check' which is not fun

I only found about half of them but the signs I see are:

It takes like 30 minutes once you start looking for the secret areas in the first quarter of the dungeon. Just look for the above and you'll find it quick.

The color palette really could some more noticeable differences to stick out though. I walked into the pits thinking they were floors several times during my first run through the dungeon.

I doubt it. With so much slowdown and all those features advertised I don't think they'll be ready till 2016 at least unless there's only a handful of dungeons to the game.

I'm pretty sure there was also supposed to be some sort of currency to pick up but I don't even want to imagine how much more slowly it'll run with that.

Did these guys build the game on java or something cause it seemed to me the garbage collection didn't kick in fast enough to keep things running smoothly.
