I don't know about the best, but it's definitely up there.
In terms of gameplay it could improve, story and setting are fantastic though. Nothing out there like them.
The Mother series is really one of the most unique JRPG series I've ever played. Makes me skeptical about Mother 4.
It probably won't be a super emotional thrill ride because I don't think the developers are gonna put in anything inspired by their life events in the game. It might just be a fun RPG with some cool graphics and music, and that's all I'll need. That's all EB and M3 were to me anyways.
I just hope they keep the rhythm combat system.
While the series has some of the most unique charming aesthetics/atmosphere. It's biggest issue is it's gameplay.
Many people consider it to the be the best game for many reasons, but the gameplay certainly isn't one of them. If you take away every pleasing aspect of the games (art, animation, dialogue, sfx) you are left with an extremely barebones RPG. That doesn't mean it's awful by any means, but it certainly shows how far you can take simple gameplay and make it look pretty.
I think it's great, but I can see why some wouldn't like it as much.
>implying he even played it
>implying they will ever catch the spirit of the mother games
it will prpbably straight out fanfic tier trash or simply a copymof a other mother game(what seems to be really likely fromnwhat i see on their site)
>/v/ collectively shits on any game that puts story above gameplay
>yet has no problem with people calling the Mother series the best JRPGs even though they do the same thing
The Nintendo bias is real.
I don't understand this, one second everyone's shouting "WE HATE STORY, WE WANT MORE GAMEPLAY" but when it's about a Nintendo or retro game then it's "THE GAMEPLAY IS MEH, BUT THIS STORY IS FUCKING AMAZING 9/10!"
I feel like if the story is fucking god mode and the gameplay is good enough then the game will be great, but if the game has good story and meh gameplay then it's okayish, and if it has meh everything it's average. Then if it's shit, then it's shit. I don't even see why ratings are useful, I'd rather just want to know either GOOD or BAD. If it's good then it's worth a play.
But doesn't /v/ hate TLoU? It had pretty good story and had a little bit of charm. Same with the Walking Dead, you all claim it's a movie game and then fucking praise point and click games like King's Quest. It's not Nintendo games I guess then, it's just retro games.
There were parts that were needlessly dark to the point of being edgy.
Then it goes back to Mother 2 mode where everything's happy and silly.
I honestly didn't understand what the game wanted me to feel.
It worked well in Mother 2's case.
Mother 3 was a tangled mess of emotions that advertised itself as being an emotional tearjerker, but also tried to pander to the Mother 2 crowed with shoehorned humor.
I don't think you all understand what Itoi meant when he said he's not ever going to be creating Mother 4.
Right now you're living in Mother 4, they were literal when they called it Earthbound.
Mother 4 is happening right now, your life is Mother 4.
>huurrrr durr /v/ isn't one person
When I say /v/ I mean either the majority or loud minority. When I say /v/ I mean the collected opinions put together until I see which one has more opinions of being greater.
In a way. It sort of felt to me like it was almost a sort of way to make the whole thing palatable. After all, it's a story about a fascist takeover ripping a family apart and destroying the world.
>starts like earthbound but in the middle of nowhere
>suddenly dark shit happens and
mom, a character that was just introduced and didn't interact much dies
It was okay. Don't get how people say it gives them feels or whatever, though.
