ITT: Bosses you ragequit at
This son of a bitch right here is so fucking bullshit, I mean I try and swing my sword but it take like an hour for my guy to actually swing it, and that's accounting for when I don't get hit mid-swing
And even if I DO eventually swing it, the faggot's like a mile away and I miss
monhun thread faggots
Is it just me, or is the gunlance gameplay actually clunky and a little too tanky?
Switch Axe, Hammer, and Sword and Shield are what I enjoy most, but I've been wanting to try gunlance for a while and just have. I feel like I could just tank shit with the shield rather than dodge, but I don't want to do that. The lack of any maneuverability makes me feel like I'm pigeonholed into that kind of gameplay
>ragequitting at G.jaggi
OP are you being serious right now?
G.jaggi is pretty much the glass joe of MH
We're at an age where no one can tell if someone is actually terrible or just making a joke.
It's a copypasta. I've seen the one in the OP several times.
I actually did have trouble with G Jaggi the first time or so until I actually understood the game. So far I've been breezing through everything after with my trusty FUCKING GUNLANCE though.
>All these people ITT who don't realize it's just bait and that I was trying to start a MonHun thread
Anyone wants to play the iphone version?
>Get Azure Rathalos set
>Get Attack up (M)
>Get reckless abandon 1
>Fight a Tigrex with the anvil hammer because I wanted the Tigrex hammer
>Spend 5 minutes fighting and he's already limping
Yeah, I love that forward dash attack. I actually find myself overusing it and fucking myself when I'm already in close quarters lol
but still, I feel like the dodging covers too little ground to reliably use as opposed to tanking hits with a shield. I'll try dodging immediately after attacks, but is there anything else I could keep in mind as I'm approaching g-rank?
So is this officially a ragequit boss thread?
Either way, this ultra faggot right here
Retardation is the only way to get /v/ talking.
It's also the only way to start a monhun thread. Praise it in the OP no one comes. The only way to have a good monhun thread is to retardedly shitpost with the OP.
We had the same exact thread yesterday, more or less
OP, there is nothing we can tell you apart from
No. Jaggis are only into other jaggis.
I study far away from my home, and I forgot to bring the circle pad pro even though that I have MH and my 3DS with me. Is it still playable against a Motherf***ing Narga, or I should wait?
Saying "haha" doesn't make your post any less disturbing...
What is the guild man? I've never seen it.
Like I remember in MHUnite
It was like they used a good portion of their hunters to contain Akantor in the Volcano area and they hired you to finish the job as the other hunters were manning their posts
Ain't nothing wrong with being a shield-tanking faggot. Just skill for it. Your times might be slower, but if it gets the job done and you don't cart, nobody can be mad at you.
>not in the spirit of this game
Nigga, this is MonHun. You hunt monsters. The only thing that's not "in the spirit of the game" is fucking Kelbi Bow spam.
>even viable in g-rank
Do you triple-cart? Do you timeout?
If you answered No to both of these questions, shit's viable in G-rank
I'm not that anon but they're always really helpful whenever I go there for a question I have. More often than out going out of their way to explain above and beyond what I'm asking.
Maybe you have a different experience though...
>mfw I never "quit" or "took a break" after any monster and just kept pummeling through them
Damn, feels good not being a casual.
Although I did manage to get into the Port before even starting the tutorial and I kept dying to everything there for like an hour before I realized I was retarded.
Peco seriously made me consider whether or not I wanted to keep playing the game. I thought he was much harder than he actually was while I was playing him so it fucked with me a bit.
I ended up killing him fine.
>mfw fighting a great wroggi after thinking the peco marked an increase in the games difficulty
I still hate fighting Peco though. I was so happy when I managed to capture him on my first try. I was worried.
>spend three hours trying to get a Rathian Ruby
>decide to go fight a Rathalos in the meantime for a Scale I need to upgrade my Red Rook
>get a fucking Rathalos Ruby
>go kill my first Azure Rathalos a couple hours later
>get ANOTHER Rathalos Ruby
>say fuck it and go for the Rath Soul set instead of the Rath Heart set I was orignally aiming for
>suddenly can't get tails anymore
I never truly believed in the desire sensor until today.
I always liked more fights with a "surprise", than others without one. When you know that you will have to fight one barroth, it is not that thrilling. But if a glacial agnaktor join in, that's when the real fun begins.
Random monsters are what makes this game shine for me.
>mfw i can make the next level of hammer if I get an urugaan ruby
>mfw those drop rates
shiggy diggy daggy doogy. The worst part is that I'd switch to greatsword, but that upgrade requires a rath medulla which I tried farming for like 5 hours but didnt get it
You usually get things when you're not looking for them. So I guess I have 12 different hammers, to be sure that at least one will get to the next level without me focusing on ressources.
>use LS throughout all of my MHFU time, very rarely SnS
>try out MHP3
>discover switch axe
HOLY FUCK THIS WEAPON IS SO COOL
YOU CAN PENETRATE NIGGAS AND EXPLODE ALL INSIDE THEM AND SHIT
WHY DOES NO ONE ELSE USE THIS GLORIOUS WEAPON
>Mfw fighting a duramboros for the first time
>Living in Schrade mountain range eating rocks and shit, being docile.
>Some big ass black dragon comes out of nowhere and tries to kill me with fireballs.
>Run away down the only path big enough.
>Some little monster starts hitting me with something sharp.
>Can't turn around to run away because the path is too narrow.
>Hope the little monster knows that if I don't openly attack then he'll leave me alone.
>Eventually run into a big wall.
>Try to get away from little monster who is actually starting to hurt me.
>Try to break down wall.
>Little monster makes giant spikes come out of the wall.
>I only wanted to live.
When I first fought Peco in MH3U, I had absolutely nothing for dealing ice damage. By chance, a friend was helping me with tanzia quests and pointed out that I should harvest in Tundra. I went to Tanzia and did the * Tundra Harvest Tour. Got enough mats to make a frozen core. Came back to Peco and kicked his ass. Felt good, too.
>I still think Great Wroggi is my favorite hunt...
>just got into 3 star village missions
>go to Moga Woods for resources to build a better bug box or some shit
>"oh fuck it's a Querpeco I hope it doesn't see me"
>"why is it calling things what the fuck"
>ROYAL LUDDROTH OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE
>didn't realize that dung bombs did anything
>Cha-cha and I buckle down our anuses and have the scariest fucking dual fight of my video game career
>Kill R. Luddy and then capture the Peco because fuck that guy
That was fantastic.
You have all of my respect. That's baller as fuck.
>being a faggot criticizing someone getting into the series rather than fostering a sense of community and encouraging him to turn that bird into his armor and weapon like he wants to
Gunlance shield-tanking faggot here, solo'd all of G rank in MH3U. Guardlancing and tanking is super viable and you can get good kill times.
I use a mixed Agnaktor Z set with Guard+2, Guard up, Mind's Eye
and either bombardier (lol dios weps) or artillery master as a catch-all for everything. Don't just turtle, you get right up in the monster's face and attack constantly and quickly blocking when you need to, the gunlance can actually combo into a block with the up-pokes. With guard skills you can almost anything (literally everything with dash juice) and unlike dodging you can position yourself to attack the monster and never leave that area.
Haha, I experienced that for the first time. I played a lot of solo Tri on the Wii but nothing prepared my anus for that mission.
I don't what I was playing before that mission, but it sure wasn't Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter hadn't begun yet.
I actually forgot how challenging was the low rank Qurupeco, you have access to shitty weapons so I had to settle with the hammer which is the best choice for that fight (either that or the horn) so that my weapon didn't bounce at every attack.
And then the smartass has the great idea to fly away at the exact moment when the paint bomb loses its effect. I also forgot the quick path to the resting area so the fucker got extra time eating and sleeping, at the end got the asshole and the giant Jaggi (desert)
I don't think I'm ever going to do that a third time.
lol I totally made the Dios gunlance for my first one. I'm getting super pumped to go back and take a different approach to the gunlance, thank you for sharing with me your experience and strategy
>monster is asleep
>charging up a level 3 GS slash
>aimed directly at the head
>farming G rank Ivory Lagia to get a spare sapphire or JUST ONE FUCKING MANTLE
>hear sound effect for spotted by another monster
>"Oh great, there's another Volvidon to waste my time. I'll grab my dung bombs in a sec."
>theme music starts playing
>it's not the generic stage music
>Ivory curls up for hipcheck, put up shield
>rotate camera behind me, Zinogre about to charge at my unprotected ass
I can handle everything in the game, but Zinogres (mainly Stygian) still give me trouble sometimes.
>monster is limping
>set down a Shock Trap to capture it
>spend 30 second trying to lure it into the trap
>SUDDENLY JOE OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE
>runs directly into the trap like a retard
>monster i'm trying to catch gets away
I wasn't sure if I should've been angry or laughing.
>monster limps to new area
>lay trap in new area
>limps a millimeter past the trap to a new area
It's not so much of having troubles with them, it's more that with green sharpness you're more likely to bounce off of them unless you actively golf swing or ground pound, so getting breaks off them is a nightmare.
Uragaan is easy shit since you can just trap him and barrel bomb his chin to kingdom come. Once his chin is gone he's pie.
Agnaktor isn't too bad. If he dries out then just wait for him to go back underground and then wail on him.
For Diablos, do the same thing for his horns as you did with Uragaan's chin and then he's also easy.
But blowing shit to kingdom come is easier for me since I main Gunlance I guess. I'm not sure how hard it is for hammerfags.
>Farming Diablos for hardhorns, using gunlance.
>Volvidon sees me fighting Diablos and walks towards me.
>Diablos goes underground, preparing the big lunge towards ChaCha behind me.
>Lunge hits Volvidon, tripping it. Diablos barely touched my shield.
>Volvidon gets up and leaves area.
Later in that fight
>Volvidon enters area
>Immediately gets hit by Diablos using tailswipe, Volvidon's armor breaking.
>Volvidon leaves area.
I felt really sorry for Volvidon, he just wanted to see what was going on.
i hate hunting durambros all they want to do is eat trees and shit they are harmless
Don't Duramboros actually go out of their way to fuck shit up with their hammer tails?
Last I heard they were actually one of the biggest ecological dangers in MH as far as herbivores go.
And I never understood what was the thing with Azure Rathalos. It was always piss easy to take one down while Pink Rathians were a hell of a thing. I still have problems with pink rathians when i'm not overly cautious.
>Duramboros is a herbivore, subsisting primarily on fallen tree trunks. Using its ram-like pair of horns, as well its hammer-like tail club, it is known to push or knock down weak or dead trees in order to comfortably feed on them. Though generally docile, Duramboros has a capacity for aggression if provoked. It is known to use its tail club, horns, and overall mass to attack foes. One of its most unique tendencies is to twirl in place, using its tail club as a counter-balance to build up centrifugal force, allowing it to hurl itself at an attacker and crush them with its body
Opposite here. Pink Rathian and original Rathian are always easy to me, but Rathalos is a pain in the ass. Mostly because it won't stop fucking flying around everywhere and spitting a million fireballs at me from the safe range of a mile in the air. At least Rathian stays on the ground most of the time.
That's quite strange. I did farm the normal rathalos to get my first rathalos armor, so I understood quickly how to handle these guys, but man... There's a huge gap between the normal rathian and the pink one. I play essentially with hammers, and when they do the circular move with their tails, i'm always in a near-death state.
Damage+ poison+ "shit i forgot to bring antidotes" = You're done for..
Just keep using the forward dash, it's your best attack. Use it to the front, use it to the side, use it all the time.
I dunno what to tell you. You probably already figured out that the best combo is forward dash, stab, stab, upswing, overhead, hop. Shelling is overrated situational sharpness ruining garbage but you can always throw it in to reset your smaller combos or to flourish your main combo after the upswing and full burst before you hop and quickreload. You can also interrupt the forward dash before the diagonal thrust with a forward shell. I'm being hard on shelling because everybody depends on it too much and never learns how to combo properly with the gunlance because of it. It has its uses.
>cannot make it past 6-7 for years
>finally make it to 6-8
>have to turn difficulty down to win
Dammit, this game pissed me off
>no more Gobul
and fuck the sand spinoff too
>Ivory Lagi's hueg chip damage
i just wanna make lance explosions in you.
also, anyone else sad that nargacuga supposedly isnt in MH4U?
I don't know why this makes me laugh so hard every time.
tired of dying 1hit?
want to attack almost non stop?
no more worries! the lance is herer to protect your beautiful ass while always dealing maximum dmg to any monsterpart
see that nasty charge
counterto your face
ugly tail whip?
block it and continue to rape any monsters anus as you please
>lagi >oldplesioth hip check which hits you while you are on the opposite side
Lagi and Royal Ludroth in Flooded Forest
>tfw when I finally killed it with 0 potions on my last life with seconds left on the clock after I fucking failed the shock trap
I literally had to run back to base to heal several times because i used all 20 potions I had
To be honest, I find it more annoying on the Island... If you are not lucky, this fucker don't touch land, and stay near the coast like the horrible faggot it is.
In flooded forest he starts always on the same spot and you know more or less what it is going to do.
Well, while OP actually was joking about MH being shit, I'm not and let me tell you why.
It's boring. There. That alone is enough of a good reason to call a video game shit, because if it's not entertaining me, then it's failing at its job.
So why is it boring then? Well I'll tell you that too. It's boring because from a core perspective. The idea of fighting a monster for 40 fucking minutes while it uses the same 3 attacks on you, as you're using the same 3 attacks on it is just atrocious.
MH isn't the only game guilty of this. Toukiden, Freedom Wars, GE and SSD are all the same.
The game being clunky for being clunkys sake is also a huge cop out.
>Our game is clunky as fuck, what should we do about it boss?
>"Leave it the way it is. If anybody complains about it, just tell them we made it that way on purpose to make the game difficult, since we can't balance difficulty in a way that isn't detrimental to the game"
You don't see your character in platformers delaying his jump for 3 seconds after you've clicked the button, do you?
You don't see your character doing some stupid as fuck animation to reload his gun in an fps do you?
I've only ever played 3U as far as MH goes, and I ended up playing through normal and half way through HR before getting bored and making a new character.
This happened 3 times before I stopped playing completely.
I limited myself to 1 weapon type for each character for added fun and it was still shit.
The big dragon faggot that you fight in the water is also the worst boss I've ever had the displeasure of fighting in a video game. If you can even call it a fight.
>"Hit this dragon for literally 50 minutes while he does nothing but swim around and knock you away from him like the annoying cunt we designed him to be"
>"Oh and try not to time out lol :)"
The music is shit too. Only track that is somewhat good is misty peeks battle theme.
>Isn't Hunting Horn the same raw damage output as sword and shield? I mean, it's a fucking instrument, right?
>The music is shit too. Only track that is somewhat good is misty peeks battle theme.
Shit taste confirmed
>Motherfucking CEADEUS THEME
>Jhen Mohran's theme on the second part
Everything else is either mediocre or plain crap
>tfw too poor to experience monhun past the emulators because the fucking nips won't release a game on PC
it's not like my craptop would be unable to handle the amazing graphical fidelity of a console game
just release a fucking game on pc holy fuck please i can't live off of mhfu anymore it's been 500 hours
>I'm not sure how hard it is for hammerfags
Leno is fun, super pounds for days.
Diablos is the same way, but you gotta have a pair and understand how to dodge the charges.
Agna is kinda annoying until you learn the joy of lvl 2 charge thrusts, then the ko's just keep coming.
I learned the game with hammers but enjoy gunlance far too much
Me and my friend first fought him in a quest that made him like twice as strong as the normal one so the entire time we were getting our shit wrecked in
>that part where he goes into god rage mode and starts glowing
>slowly running out of ballista shots
>our faces every time he went Metal Gear Ray on us with our -10 water armor
Best climax in any MH game. Best final boss.
I was talking about the OST of 3U, I've never played any MonHun except that one.
Also, the Orchestra version of the Ceadeus theme is fucking god tier
Raths want to kiss you too
Diablos is great fun because of the hopeless jumps to avoid charges and because attacking the horns with a fucking oversized hammer is ridiculously rewarding.
The glacial Agnaktor is a major pain in the ass though, always charging not where you are but where you're directing yourself. This fucker mess around with you a lot.
why does everyone hate peco so much
it is the only monster with personality and that's why it's my favourite
Jho is a cutie.
>tfw no 4U for WiiU
I just want to play it on a big screen, is that bad?
Are you ready to fight the best elder dragon again?
All monsters are cuties.
>try out each weapon type extensivly
>greatsword is the shittiest weapons ever long sword is best sword
>read up on opinions on /vg/ and /v/ threads
>mfw people say long swords are shit and greatsword have the best potential
>i can't git gud at greatsword no matter what i try in any situation
Fuck, that bitch is back in 4?
>There are people who never hunted Chameleos
>game constantly makes reference to pink Rathian femininity
>keeps calling it beautiful
>slowly start to call in 'her' instead of it like other monsters
>admire how it twist and leaps around like a graceful acrobat
>slowly wondering what it's like to pair with it as a mate
Guys what is happening help
It's probably how you're playing it.
The longsword is a crotch fighting weapon. You stand in the monster's groin and chop away at the ball sack. The greatsword is a hit and run weapon that you shouldn't really combo with. You wait for an opening, unsheathe into a charge attack, sheathe again, keep running and waiting, rinse and repeat.
You could also abuse the fuck out of traps to get some smash+charge attacks off.
> mfw chacha kills my first lagi with the fucking boomeranged while it was resting
That's like having fucking Pickey kill the first starman in earthbound
just applies the debuff. i believe para has some kind of damage buff while active and sleep in 3rd gen games makes the hit that wakes up the monster do double damage. if that hit is 8x lbb+s you're doing a shitload of damage. do that 6 times and god damn that's a shitload of damage. on that note,
yes, especially on monsters with huge hp pools like alatreon
Used lance for most of the game, until I saw this. I still use Lance underwater though.
My friend was playing Monster Hunter. He loaded this level, handed me his 3DS and said "try this game." without any directions. I beat it on my first try. Sounds like you just suck at the game OP.
Why are people still replying as if OP was being serious?
No no no no no no no!!
CHAMELOS IS BACK?!
Man, I should use my Hammer more often...
Oh no, not at all.
I just don't really like them.
I tried them on FU, P3rd and Tri but I really can't get into them.
