Those are all relatively short experiences with in each game. probably only a few hours. Maybe try different classes? game play can often change a lot by choosing a different class

Every since Abyssea the game hasn't been the same. Basically solo to 99 and do boring repetitive shit instead of the journey it was before. Every zone is a barren desolate wasteland, especially the starter zones. The economy is dead, etc.
The only people still playing are the people who would literally kill themselves once the servers went offline. No fresh blood at all. It's stagnant and there's like 500 people per server now
The storyline and missions are still good of course if you want to just play it as a single player RPG and solo everything (which can be done easily now) and the world is still cool and fun to explore but as an MMO it's dead

Endgame for battle classes is raiding yes
PvP is give or take completely disjointed from the rest of the game.
Crafters have got their own endgame with their own mechanics and progression. Full-fledged classes that don't intrude on the battle territory at all.
If you completely despise living you can always take up fishing as well.

Everyone also shits on MMO games because they forget one of the biggest things.. Friends.. they play it like a solo game. nothing beats getting a few mates on voice chat and having fucking laugh running instances, chilling and chatting crap all day.

Eve Online is good. But it takes a certain kind of person to enjoy it.

The problem is that modern MMOS eliminated what used to make them good: the social aspects.

Even WoW was more social back then, when you had to go around town and find some groups to do instances with before flying and riding there.
Now with dungeon finder everything is some kind of "instant reward, no need for socializing" thing. That's the wrong direction.

I wish you could travel back in time and play SWG OP. Easily the best MMO ever.

Don't be fooled by people claiming that FFXIV is somehow better than the competition. It's beautiful, and it has a fantastic soundtrack, but the levelling content is generally dull and the endgame content is both incredibly repetitive and incredibly boring.

It's worth trying out, but I got to just up to the Binding Coil of Bahamut when Turn 4 (or maybe 5, I can't recall which one) was at the time unbeatable and dropped the game. Haven't touched it since.

FF14 is easily better than anything on the market, thats coming from someone who isn't play it at all right now. I maxed out my black mage and finished turn 5.

The only thing that makes the content boring is it requires a friend like every mmo. That aside the story is good or at the very least decent and worth following unlike most mmos and the class system is interesting.

The major flaws of the game are
Zones are small and you constantly have to travel between them so you are constantly loading
End Game is almost too easy to reach, and even then getting maxed out gear is just as easy
The game is brought down by the fact they made it for consoles as well

Plus what compeition does it really have? ArcheAge? A p2w mmo
WoW? A dying mmo that everyone has played and is trying to move on from
Tera? A game that plays extremely differently and is also p2w
Aion? A decent game but small community, and overall very generic
Rift? A game that will be dead in a year or two

Plus they are getting the thief class for free and that will make me rebuy my sub

I've never played WoW or any other MMO for a long time.

because modern MMOs dont understand that the greater community is the most important aspect. FF14's constant cross-server instancing discourages server community growth. even city of heroes could pull off a server community, and it was 100% instances. I just dont get how people can constantly fuck it up so hard

Hunts brought the community together for a patch. Screaming and kicking but fucking hell they did it. On a few servers there's massive public teamspeak efforts to get hunting marks down cooperatively in an efficient manner. That, despite how much of a cheap shot it was, was a good thing.

Oh god no, it's just meant to ease the pain of coming back at the beginning of a new expansion. The issue is people came back, possibly didn't have a character at level cap and then had to go level through old content before they could hit the new stuff with their friends.

Mind, 90 isn't the 'cap', 90 is just the cap for Mists of Pandaria (current expansion), it just lets you jump right into Draenor.
