>Underrated games thread
>Beyond Good and Evil
A shame Enix never really gets much credit.
I don't think OP actually wanted to start an underrated games thread you guys. But fuck it, let's have one anyway.
I actually only started Beyond Good and Evil recently and I'm having a good time of it. I never would have played it if I weren't a Rayman fan.
I also think that Ico is genuinely underrated, people really don't like it. I think it's actually better than Shadow of the Colossus.
>Ty The Tasmanian Tiger
>ITT: underrated games
There is only one shitty game on that list.
His point is more that fucking everyone especially people here know about those games now. Especially Ico and SoTC. They are almost as bad as Earthbound when brought up by people who don't know a damn thing about video games as being an underrated classic.
Are you prepared for people to look back on this as THE stealth game?
>people who think underrated means the same thing as obscure
Nobody ever talks about R&C besides the first 2 weeks a new game comes out
>It is fairly underrated,
No it's the same case as Boondock Saints where nearly everyone with a functioning brain can see it for the piece of shit it is but it still has an incredibly loud tiny fanbase that won't fuck off.
>Unpopular opinions thread
>"I like S-Skyrim, I thought it was
>"I like [insert game that /v/ likes to shit on but is otherwise well liked]"
>Nothing more than a few words of their opinion, no one backs up why they hold their opinion
Was in the first village looking for that troll or orc or whatever that was in the hole. Something one shoted me from nowhere with no warning and I just lost all drive to play the game because the game was apparently made before autosaves and I lost all proress.
I loved this whole series

Tri-Ace hasn't made anything even close since
My father, a huge Barker fan, grabbed it out of a bin at a flea market
I enjoyed it for what it was, a try hardy 2edgy4u shoota
>>Beyond Good and Evil
If everyone says they're underrated, how are they still underrated? Their rating is underrated which means they have the rating they're meant to. Which is underrated.
Nope. The game's a fucking mess but people give it a pass because it had neat ideas. The problem is neat ideas doesn't make a game good when everything else is so broken it feels like I'm playing an alpha release.
>Deep as fuck Einherjar system
I got to the volcano after the desert village and by that time I had duplicates of people with same moveset, same finishing strike and same dialog.
Only the voice was a bit different.
Gets stale after the 3rd area
Short, half-assed platformer. (but muh deep psychological references and humor) fuck off.
>Beyond Good and Evil
I'll give you that.
i liked the game and replayed it at least 5 times
I havent seen a single bug and as someone who isnt a complete graphics whore i dont understand what your problem is
cheated infinite emp's to skip the minigames

DAT MUUUSIC! DAT MUUUUUUSIC HOLY FUCK THAT MUSIC
Oh my god this has to be the most underrated game of all time
It quite literally takes the classic Final Fantasy formula, turns it up to 100000000%, masters it, and completely shits on any FF game
The little clone that could
>I havent seen a single bug and as someone who isnt a complete graphics whore
Either you're extremely lucky or I just have shit luck. Everytime I played the game there was one game breaking bug where if you reload a checkpoint during a boss fight they would completely disappear causing me to have to replay the mission from the start if I ever fucked up and died.
And how often do you see it come up? This game is underrated because so very, very, very few people played it, and don't credit it with the praise it deserves.
It never got a chance at real success as a series because of that, and instead we watched this type of game all but die a horrible death.
It's so depressing. In my opinion, SoA was the penultimate game of its style, and I desperately pray that someday Sega stops being a bunch of fucking idiots and rereleases it in HD before its completely forgotten, or its fans all grow old and die.
ICO was objectively mediocre at best, and I really liked it. I agree with the rest though.
SHOGO: Mobile Armor Division
Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces
World in Conflict (rip Bannon)
L.A. Noire (fuck action junkies wanting GTA in a game with a different fucking name)
Top Gear Rally (N64)
Beetle Adventure Racing (seriously, one of the best racing games of that era)
Battletanx and the sequel
i played skies of arcadia but couldn't get in the combat
i could never remember with all the enemies what element was good against what enemy because you couldn't just check the element of your enemies
>Uses a bunch of buzzwords and meaningless phrases
alien hunting with bros is awesome
fucker is a rollercoaster of emotion giving me purples for blues and blues for purples
Pretty sure a lot of them were color-coded, the dungeons also has "theme" elements IIRC
Gotta love the character development in that game, even the side characters have some
>mfw people still think video games are art
This entire series coasted under the radar for most people. And all the reviews of the games are pretty bad.
It's like the definition of "something that shouldn't work but does". The combat is braindead, the music is droning, the character choice is nearly pointless, the levels are grueling, the bosses are boring, the plot is bad, the graphics are terrible and the game runs at like 20 fps, sometimes dipping to 10.
Yet it's probably one of the best couch co-op games of the generation, possibly of all time.
Alice: Madness Returns
Honestly I realize the platforming is kinda meh, and the combat is kind of droll, but this game was metal as fuck
Pic related, most metal scene in the game
Black Ops II
Modern Warfare 3
Little Big Planet
Minecraft (so quirky X3)
and i'd like to say mario galaxy but it was pretty shit in gameplay, and especially in music/art. it wasn't gamey enough, you know?
