ITT: Terrifying and just insanely horrific vidya weapons and enemies.
Pic related. Needle Rifle+Needler
>Can home in on you
>One alone is enough to pierce through your skin (killing you or injuring you)
>One exploding sends millions of micro fiber shards of crystal in your skin/body
>Enough hitting you is enough to explode sending fragments of razor sharp crystal several feet from you
>Said explosion can injure or kill nearby foes.
Imagine having a glass spike stab into your stomach, and said glass explodes and tiny glass shards are now in your body and all over you.
YFW one needle round is enough to kill or injure a soldier to the point of a slow death.
YFW Grunts wield this
YFW a pack of Grunts is actually strong enough to fuck up a squad of Marines if they aren't very careful
I have no face actually
This thing will clear an entire room and knock you back a good few feet from the recoil.
The Demons from Doom. Sure the games dont have too big of a story but anyone who has played Doom 1/2 knows it's pretty fucking creepy. Just thinking of being a Human soldier or worker and out of nowhere HELL literally comes and just destroys you. Bodies are just being tortures and left to die slowly. Watching your fellow man become mindless zombies. While others are stripped and put on spikes.
Fun game. But if you think about it, Doom is a horrifying concept
I could kinda imagine this being some type of plasma/radiation type gun. Like it's a ball of energy and radiaion that "pops" sending fucking extreme amounts of just death out.
Wish I knew what exactly it shot out.
>A free city to build a good life in
>Sign up, Pay, And get to said underwater city
>First few years is beautiful. Parties. Peace. And just awesome
>Slowly watch said city fall into madness from "drugs" and said
>Slowly watch the people go mad, killing eachother, beating eachother
>Knowing Rapture could have been a perfect life, but ruined.
Even with it's colorful and sometimes harmless color pallet, the Covenant weapons in Halo realistically would ruin shit. However balance for MP would be shit if one plasma bolt was enough to kill you.
The Assault Rifle shoots m14 bullets, with little to no recoil. So 60 (or 32) m14 bullets being sprayed out like a fucking 9 MM SMG.
And so on. Even the human weapons are crazy powerful. However Covies take the scary cake.
>Also pic is a scale sized Elite.
>Yes they are that big.
Too bad Halo (games) never really show this. I mean you can tell Elites are bigger against Marines. Yet they dont show how scary they are.
And I dont care how well trained you are, or tough you are. When you are fighting something whose fucking hands could literally hold your body using super heated plasma weapons you'd be fucking scared.
The Wraith in Halo is another grand example of why The Covenant would be an enemy you would never want to fight.
>Low blast damage
>Takes 1-3 shots to kill vehicles/etc
Actual lore Wraith
>Can mortar targets miles away
>Explosion is hot enough to vaporie anything without 50+ feet
>Anything outside of that 50+ feet would be subjected to heats so much that any living thing would burn and most likely die
>Anything without 150-200 feet would get 3rd degree burns or massive amounts of radiation
Pretty much a pack of Wraiths could bomb a base from a few miles away and leave nothing left.
>Brutes are anywhere from 6-20+ inches taller.
>Hunters are usaully that size when armored but can reach twice that height when standing
I think Tartarus that white fat fuck was like 10 or 12 feet tall. He was the Big Show in the Brute world
Maybe not scary but the concept of Hunters from Halo. Which are pretty much millions of tiny worms acting under one "hive mind".
The number of "worms" determines the power, intelligence and function of said being. All they need is a "Shell" to use in. "Hunters" can be the size of a grunt to the size of a building.
They also have the second largest population size, I think numbering in the trillions if not even higher.
As you said mostly because how big Chief is. ODST does make you feel a little smaller. I remember being bumble confused at 11 or 12 years old and learning Grunts were actuall 5 or so feet tall.
>YFW Grunts and Jackals would be taller than most of Earths population
Sadly Zombies are so over fucking used. But still I think any form of Zombie is something I find spooky. Just the idea of losing your mind and turning on your friends. Just spooks me out
pretty much all the covenant guns are downgraded from the lore for game balance
i don't think any of them aren't actually described as absolutely horrific weapons to be faced up against
DICKtact should never have happened.
Bungie kept the Forerunners this ancient forgotten race with only their constructs and structures remaining, then 343 fucks everything up and says "HEY YOU FIGHT THE FORERUNNERS NOW"
What the fuck, no. That's not how it works.
I don't consider Halo 4 canon.
Reach fucked up canon as well. Halo 4 is a fine game but it's a hard story to keep really.
Halo takes place over the course of a million or so years around an entire galaxy and beyond.
With dozens if not more living species, robots, A.I and such.
Trying to keep that in one fine super cool story isn't easy. It's a hard thing to keep.
>YFW Medicant Bais will never be in a Halo game directly even though his story is fucking amazing.
>every hunter is a colony of smaller beings
>they all have a bro
>warriors code dog
>have warrior poems in their crazy language
>go berserk when their bros die
and their cannon is of course like a ludicrous mini nuke by lore
Hunters and Elites are the best of bros
Hunters fucking rekt the Covenant before they were terrorized to join.
Hunters only respect and like Elites. Grunts and Jackals are shit faggots, Brutes are seen as cunts, and so on.
Sadly I think In Halo 3/Halo 4 some Hunters were forced to join because of fear and "brain" washing But I think several Hunters are actual allies.
Just a lore issue here, why does it have needles sticking out of it like the pistol, if the ammo is fed into it through that cartridge?
Or is the cartridge like a battery that powers the rifle so that it can fire the spikes? Do you know? Its fucking killing me man.
High power directed energy tool, capable of instantly destroying any human sized target. Originally used for heavy excavation project.
to date, this thread is by far the strongest example i have witnessed of neo-/v/ actually existing.
>all this Halo shit
fuck grow up and play some actual freaky shit
Someone had some big theory that Halo 5 will have him be a big focus. Pretty much MED BAIS is "split" in different areas to keep him from fucking everyone up again. Someone made some theory that Chief or somebody was going to find the parts of him and re-use him to end the war.
Pretty much MB turned bad but over time learned he fucked up and is stuck in a limbo of guilt that "he" pretty much caused the fall of the Forerunners.
Didact now has 6 Composers and a Halo ring he's trying to use against Earth to wipe out Humanity for good. I'd give 343 some respect if they had the balls to literally kill off Earth and have Halo 6 be the remaining Humans trying to win against countless odds.
Halo 4=OMFG HUMANS BE STRONG OH YEA BABY
Halo 5=Fuck Earth is literally just dead. Billions just die no fail, including a large chunk of military
Halo 6=Humans are scattered, weak, moral is low, Earth is lost, Storm, Forunners, Didact forces outnumber them 10:1 or something
Only allies are a few Elites and Covies.
Would make Halo 5/6 actually good
This is how the Needler works, which is the original one. The Needle Rifle is more of a carbine rifle, with higher bullet velocity and accuracy, the Needles do home in on targets though.
If you get enough needles in someone they explode the stuck needles outwards, ripping the victim apart.
I know how the munitions work, I'm wondering whether that drum fed into the rifle is the actual ammo, and if so why are there also needles poking out of the sides, or if its just charge to work the weapons firing mechanism.
Nope. Gone Home and Walking Simulator with Daughter AKA Last of Us are shit.
One person said that
Who the fuck said that.
Damn, watch the edges my friend
They need to kill the series soon, and I wouldn't mind if we just ran away to another Galaxy, or maybe even involve some Precursor technology, since we're digging up sacred remains.
>Forerunners activate the Array again
>We escape in a Precursor ship
>Forerunners can't follow
>We live safely on the other side of the universe.
That would be a fitting end I think.
Ok from what I think I remember I may know I learned (whut?)
>Magazine is filled with some crystal stuff
>When loaded the gun does some shit and said crysal stuff reacts and "Crystallizes" into spikes
>Needler then shoots out these spikes which may or may not have limited organic cells in them giving them the ability to home in.
It's a gun that's never explained fully. However the best guess from the books is the crystal is semi-living and can detect body heat and "Travels" to it.
this gun doesn't get enough recognition
the Genocide Gun from EDF 2017
Beat all levels on Inferno Mode and you get the nuke button, essentially
Search for a video of it in action to really appreciate it
>Aim at too low of an angle from the card
That would be nice for realism, but not really fun for gameplay, unless you're playing stealth or something. Maybe someday they'll do a really gritty realistic halo where the Covenant are fucking completely destroying everything and you're player isn't a goofy superhero in power armor, and instead you're a hardened soldier with emotional issues struggling to survive when completely overmatched and outgunned. But that would be a completely different game.
>Needles feed into a semi-exposed magazine which pushes the ammunition hence why they stick out from the side
>Needles on the side are shot out of the gun when fired
Same design choice with the needler. If you watch some animations you'll notice that on both variations the external needles are what are used to shoot since you can see them disappear.
ODST 2 please...
>Show off how scary Covies can actually be
>Focus HEAVILY on stealth.
>Show ODST and Marines using tactics and team work to defeat stronger Covenant foes.
Spikers are pretty sweet too
>Magazine is filled with "Balls" of unknown metal
>When you shoot the gun superheats said "ball" using magnets and heat and some strange science crap
>Ball is stretched out into long spikes that are super heated.
AHAHA TIME FOR SCALE CHARTS
I also have all the renders that OP's pic is from, but i'll just imgur those
Reach didn't fuck up canon (read halsely's journal) besides how long the battle of reach took, and that can be explained by the crystal from first strike
halo was a mediocre fps when it came out, literally nothing special it just introduced console babies to something people playing on PC had for ages, online multiplayer FPS. Other than golden eye most console FPS at that point were shit.
I'll do one for my pet weapon, although I don't think there's anything official about it, so this is all speculation.
High powered sonic resonance projector
>Mechanisms cause the fork like barrel to resonate at extremely low frequency, held in check by some form of containment field generated by the prongs inset in the "barrel"
>Energy field extends outward, forming an explosive cone of compressed low resonance sound, causing the deep boom of the weapon
>The AOE secondary is caused by pressing the tongs to the floor, producing sympathetic vibrations in the floor plates, knocking everything around the user away
Pic related, a tuning fork.
oh hey it's you again
imgur link for the renders coming soon
Halo lore time? The MAC cannon used on UNSC ships fire a 600 ton projectile at 30 kilometers a second and the SUPER MAC cannons used on the orbital defense stations fire much larger rounds at 4% the speed of light.
Oh how I wish we had Hunters as allies more often during Halo 2 and Halo 3. Covie allies are always the best parts for me. That whole mode in Reach where you played as Elites vs Spartans, AND you had AI Covie forces by your side. Shame it was only local play.
Well if Im not mistaken most explosions are just highly compressed "sound" waves that are so powerful they just wreck shit.
I rememeber watching about explosions and the damage they do. And damn they are nasty. Some explosions dont just rip you apart or so they leave you intact but literally liquify your insides.
Pretty much said weapon (assuming its strong enough) would turn your insides into soup. So yes it would fuck up.
You're the most prime example of neo-/v/. You come into a thread that's actually discussing video games just to shitpost and complain and tell everyone to stop talking about video games. Kill yourself, you miserable worthless faggot.
Don't quote me on this but from what I hear someone on /k/ using some crazy math figured out a Super MAC cannon would have the power to cause some massive damage if it was fired on a Planet.
Something like the force of 100 nukes or something. I dont remember.
Yet I hear a single rod weighing a few tons falling using just gravity has enough energy to wreck shit. Now being fired at 4% the speed of light would add some power.
Unreal 2 was shit, however at the end the penultimate weapon effectively shot a limited duration portal linked to a fucking singularity.
The plasma raifle in tribes always made me feel a little unsettled. And in the more extended lore of the Starsiege universe the cybrids were full on horrifying - the compendium that shipped with starsiege has a cybrid tactical analysis in it recommending targeting children as "human//animals" display an illogical hormonol//emotional attachment to them and the act can cause them compromise more strategically valuable assets. Also the readily used radiation to kill people readily, specifically the radiation gun could be used to kill human herc pilots with minimal damage to salvage. They were not an enemy to be fucked with.
I can only imagine the vast energy requirements of such a device, considering that to project something to the speed of light from a standstill would require as much energy as burning all of jupiters flammable gasses up. So its 4% of a Jupiter to hurl one of those shells. Either that or they use some kind of quantum trick like warp fields, which require considerably less power.
having trouble finding those renders, I know I have em saved though
so i knew what try hard kiddies to kill
its funny i love ninja gaiden but frowned upon anyone using hayubusa armor, marathon/security ubermench
Not sure about that, but in one the newer novels, the Infinity fires a MAC round at Sanghelios and created like, I think a seven mile wide crater? It's been a while since I saw the exact text. I just looked it up and apparently the total energy released from the Super MAC round is 3,090,195 times the energy released from the atomic bomb detonated over Hiroshima in World War II. Dunno if that would destroy everything but it does sound like it.
>No game will ever have the amount of lore Halo has, even before 343 fucked things up
Magnets son. Also sci-fi lore
However said huge fucking thing is shot out using super powered magnets that "squeeze" it out. Each coil or magnets it passes it adds a huge amount of energy.
Magnets are pretty damn powerful. Infact magnetic energy is far greater than Gravity (hence why a fridge magnet can hold up and not be pulled down)
Depends on what kinda bomb it is. Not all bombs have fire. Ever watch a video of bomb tests (i.e myth busters) there is usaully little to no fire, the force is sound waves.
Sound itself is just waves. Some explosions are just those waves but super condensed to the point of causing some nasty shit happen to whatever gets it its way
I'd say Headcrab zombies are pretty chilling because the hosts are still conscious and probably in constant agony from the mutations to their body.
Just imagine it. You're alive, can barely hear or see and your twisted body is being driven against your will. Then you feel bullets and a crowbar hit you suddenly.
Depends on what part of the planet it hit, and how much resistance was offered.
The idea of a guided Kinetic Kill Projectile is to basically just punch holes into heavily armored bunkers, without fallout. The speed of the projectile directs all of its energy deep into the ground, and so while the force might be between 20 and 100 megatons, all of that is directed deep into the ground.
I got a few.
Wish the fucker would make more cause they are sweet.
although there really is nothing practical about the idea of a drop pod, its still stupidly badass
also their armor was cooler than pretty much any spartans
still looking for those renders
anyways here's a mac round, for >>262998589
also once I found somebody who did the math of how much force in joules or newtwons ( I forget wiich) MJONLIR energy shields could withstand
is that you keltic?
It's crazy to know that every nuke on Earth and even a few MAC rounds wouldn't be strong enough to destroy Earth or most planets.
Meanwhile tectonic plates can carry entire continents across oceans and create mountains and shit
>YFW a Hurricane has the total energy of a few nuclear bombs
>YFW a Thunder Cloud can weigh something like 100,000 tons or more.
The Cerebral Bore. Does pretty much exactly what the name says; once you get a lock on it homes in on the target's head and drills into their brain, then ejecting all of the scrambled blood, bone, and brain matter in a stream of liquified gore. Oh, and it makes a horrible screeching sound.
I remember someone saying that 343 learned from the mistakes from Halo 4 and are actually trying to improve wherever possible in Halo 5
if so, sure I'll buy Halo 5
if the xbone has enough worthwhile games and they fix the fucking ugly as shit draw distance load in that's been around since halo 3
>tfw can't find reach disk
I'd play halo 3, but its not like you faggots play anymore, its 1:20 at night anyways
Hopefully the McBone has enough power to. I think Halo3/Reach/Halo 4 were kinda too "big" for the 360 to handle.
Also I can't say about campaign but MP for sure. Halo 5 already is focused on ARENA style gameplay.
Long as it's closer to Halo 1/2/3 with some mild Reach/4 elements It'll be good.
the practical is dropping soldiers onto a planet in a meteor shower without being detected and then work from there
who are you going to focus on in the heat of battle? the plane flying down, or the 4 dots going in the opposite direction
also, I can't find the renders in my folder, but I found the site they are from:
I laughed and feeled. I feel like Palmer could have been such a good character but came out as a total bitch . Maybe Halo 5 will fix her up. Also I think 343 fucked up by not making her a little cuter.
The method of delivery is pretty freaky too. I mean let's say you've been running from giant tripods with disintegration beams all day, find shelter in a resistance base and meet some really good people and crash. You wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of a delivery pod hitting inside the resistance base and see the qt who just helped bandage your wounds a couple hours ago with fingers torn to the the bone limbering towards you as creepy as shit spider crab aliens try to attach to your face and make you one too. and don't even get me started on manhacks...
you raise a good point, but the game itself showed the issues with drop pods
>squad gets scattered
>no guarantees you'll land somewhere you can even get out of
>could die on impact
but at the same time, losing one pod/soldier is a lot better than losing a dropship with 10 in it
and everyone knows in video games, drop ships and helicopters are guaranteed death
Do they have Halo 4 things on scale. I'd like to see that Elephant and some of those weapons/and so on.
Knights are pretty awesome things that are fucking huge.
Their sounds played backwards are pleas for help or death, so yes to both. Reason why I chose them is because the victim knows there's only one way of ending it once they've been infested.
i-is anybody even saving these? should I stop?
ODST are tough fucks for that reason. You could land literally in a cluster of enemies. You need to have the skills, speed, and power to pop out ready to fight.
In the books I remember ODST's were crazy effective and actually won a good amount of battles and were very helpful.
But hey even having soldiers jump out with parachutes can result in the same problems.
sadly, no, not yet. The guy who makes these might do another set in the future, orginally these only went up to halo 3, but for now he;s not doing it.
I have seem some other ones that are fan made (the guy who makes these is a fan, but 343/bungie sent him some model files), but it's mostl spoeculatory, and it's also over 16,000 pixels wide, so I can't even post that on /hr/
They also fucked up by not having her helmet on when in a warzone, though that's the tip of the iceburg for H4's issues.
nigga there's still like 10 of these left, we haven't even gotten into covie stuff yet, let alone spaceships
yeah, but shown in game is during mid-fight
if ODSTs were more like navy seals where they do secretive missions that were discrete like espionage. they were good in combat at front-lines but it was no their purpose
Halo3:ODST showed them dropping during a surprise split-space rupture as well as straight into combat, they didn't have time or the safety to group together as first priority
wonder why the forklift isn't in this one, actually
>halo 4 Spartans which are basicaly upgrade dudebro ODSTs don't have the coolest and more safe function for their armor
if you can't turn the visor on or off, then you aren't trying
>dat blatant tracing of the fan render I made in the first panel
>halo 4 Spartans which are basicaly upgrade dudebro ODSTs
>mfw I saw Scrubtan 4s dying around me
and thus, we have reached the end of the UNSC only scale charts
If you haven't seen this before, it's what Captain Keyes did to get promoted to his captain rank. Takes place at Sigma Octanus IV in the Fall of Reach book.
Gonna have to put my Bison Bucks on My Mother, bitch gets ridiculous when she's drunk.
this is actually taken from the journal I talked about in >>262996892
I said the end of "UNSC only" charts. Ship scales aren't faction specific
Keyes you glorious bastard you
hmmm, seems there's no 10c-cov chart, that's odd. maybe I lost a file. I'll have to look into that
>mfw that commander lady from Forward Unto Dawn got needled in the fucking chest
>mfw the meaty explosion
>mfw the chunks
BROTHER! HUNTERS HAVE COME TO OUR AID!
Post ships faggot.
i'm going in an order.
if you notice, each image (other then bases, like this one) contains a part of another image in a red box
>That entire sequence in 2
>That whole room full of weapons including a fully loaded Fuel Rod Canon
Imagine getting hit with a rail gun. One moment your chest is complete and after a blinding flash there's a big ass hole in it. If the beam is heat based it cauterizes the wound so you can't slip into death by losing consciousness and bleeding out. You are lying on the ground like a human pen holder and you have nothing better to do than estimate how long the wound will take to kill you. Your last hope is that the brave motherfucker running past you gets hit in the head for a painless laser lobotomy so he can avoid your fate
>Being impaled by a chunk of literally glowing hot rebar
Can you imagine the pain if you actually survived and had to deal with that shit?
>Imagine having a glass spike stab into your stomach, and said glass explodes and tiny glass shards are now in your body and all over you.
Sounds like your average hollow point bullet.
I assume you mean why no forerunner ones?
IDK man, would have been cool. In general I feel like 343 dropped the ball with forerunner stuff in 4
the fuel rod gun is my waifu
Oh you'd be in shock so more than likely you wouldn't know what happened, was happening, or was going to happen.
You can't take that big a chuck out of someone and they still remain coherent enough to think.
Exactly that, they could zap around.
They were digitally constructed from literally anywhere within the superstructure, so they had no need for vehicles when directly engaging and ambushing you.
For game mechanics, it could've been cool, though.
Fun fact, the brute spiker from halo fires chunks of a metal that are heated up, extruded, and fired from the "barrel" (it's actually a railgun)
thast's why the magazine is shroter then the projectiles
>It goes right through you but stops before the back end fully leaves the entrance wound
>the rebar mends with your internal organs and skin
>Falling back means having the thing violently go back through the entrance wound
>Your first instinct is to try and pull the thing out
>Your fucking hands melt onto the thing
AND HERE WE GO, SHIP TIME
true, but mah waifu the fuel rod gun does
>WUH BUMP PSSSH
IIRC, in the books, it varies. Some of them say the infection form clouds the mind before it happens, so it feels distant, other times it's said to actually feel pleasent, other times it's unimaginably excruciating.
fun fact, the tor reprint of the flood has a part from the pov of an infection form
it's worth noting that 343 retconned some of the frigate designs in halo 4 and some recent comics
also, jesus fuck CSO supercarriers are huge
this is the thing from the halo 3 announcement trailer
Nobody has mentioned the NOVA bomb from Ghosts of Onyx yet...
>1.2 Petaton yield
>Flash boils planet's atmosphere
>Shatters nearby moon
>Wipes out 3/5 of Covenant fleet
>Disables rest of the ships
why, it's none other then ridley!
but wait, what's that in the corner...
that's the lesser ark, too. there's a greater ark
>after complete silence for hours, you suddenly hear an ear-splitting scream and then an explosion in the distance
>you realize that was your squadmate
>minutes later, hear the same thing from another direction
>that was your other squadmate
>panic sets in
>then, you hear a drilling sound in your head
>the last thing you remember is screaming in pain
oh fuck, I did not see this coming
Okay, this is really the end. hope you guys had fun. you can find the speculative, fan made 16000 pixel chart via google images by searching for halo while specifying the file size be over the max option google gives you
The Brute Chopper is actually based off a Human farming vehicle. The front part was used to harvest and so on
Brutes and/or Engineers took it and put a gravity engine on and some guns
But the big wheel and spikey fuckery is human design
>tfw a chopper hit you slowly and you slowly get mangled in the wheel and die slowly.
>Halo takes place over the course of a million or so years around an entire galaxy and beyond.
>ignite the oxygen in air
No, if there is a fireball they consume the oxygen to burn. Fuel-air explosives are the kind that turn everything into a cloud of burning, but they still need to scatter the fuel first.
The demonists from World of Warcraft, or the necromancers from the Elder Scrolls games.
The idea of them capturing.my character's soul terrorizes me, and "hurr durr he eats souls" is so used to be edgy that it's pretty common. Even Fettel in Fear 3 is said to devours souls.
A sadist. You see the fin going around, and when it get near a guy, he's devoured alive by a ground shark while screaming and begging for his life.
Good thing the game is cartoony, otherwise it woulda been 18+ with moral guardian calling it the worst game ever.
My bet is on the Microwave Pulse Emitter gun from Soldier of Fortune. That game was bloodier than hell but that gun was probably the worst. It fired a beam of microwave radiation that cooks your flesh, and if you fired a charged shot it made enemies blow up like a balloon and explode in a shower of bloody chunks.
But it only worked once, right? In Armed and Dangerous, the sharks stay around after he claimed his first victim.
HE EATS SEVERAL PEOPLE BEFORE DISAPPEARING.
Reach portrayed the Elites the best imo. In 3 they were slouched over for multiplayer balancing reasons but since Reach didn't have Elites in normal matchmaking they were allowed to make they the way they normally are. Plus they made them really vicious looking
>Playing... I think its Super Robot Wars Alpha
>Get Huckbein upgrade
>Has a weapon that wipes what it hits out of existence.
>My face when contemplating what I just did to someone.
What would that even be like? I mean, I didn't just kill them, I made it so they never existed in the first place. The only indication that this just occurred would be I notice one round has been depleted.
There's this unique sword in Tales of Maj'eyal that's probably the most horrifying thing I've ever seen.
Statwise it just inflicts fuckhuge light and dark damages in a AOE whenever you crit.
Lorewise it opens a time bending blackhole in the target you hit and the sword is the only thing stopping you from being sucked in yourself.
Thanks to the time dialation effect the poor fuckers caught in the blackhole are going to spend eternity being sucked into a blackhole that has already collapsed on itself
scale chart guy here
reach had the best elite armor, but the worse actual elite deisngs.
Ironically, halo 4 had the best elite designs, they looked fierce like halo reach elites without fucking up the anatomy, but the halo 4 elite armor is pure shirtt
forgot to mention, halo 4 on the left, halo 3 in the middle, reach on the right
>Realize you just sortied for no reason
>Floating in space, alone
>Trying to figure out why you launched
>Look at ammo
>Depleted for that gun
>You realize that whatever you were fighting now never existed
What about that butterfly effect stuff? Everytime you pull the trigger, time completely changes.
The Halo Lake Gondola part is my favorite part from Halo 2. Yeah you're just staying on that gondola as shit attacks you, but the music is fantastic and syncs nicely with the action going on. Then as you come up on the big structure and scope in with your sniper rifle and can see the covenant on the structure getting ready to fight you the music crescendos.
It bothers how easily you can tear someone's soul in fantasy game.
Diablo 2 has a spell where you summon an entity who'll chase the nearest monster around, tear its soul into pieces, and carry said soul to hell, leaving the monster mutilated.
Statwise, it just causes massive damage, but I still find it horrifying. Especially given you visit hell later, and it's not a nice place at all.
I hate when they talk about souls, dammit.
>Diablo 2, Act 4, River of Flame
>Skeletons occasionally emerge from the lava but are sucked down, unable to escape as they flail pitifully
>Burning to death, forever
Halo's alien guns are shit Neil blomkamp would have in a movie. They are so underpowered int he ames and books.
Carrington has access to a Alien Weapon that can shoot people THROUGH WALLS and he's perfectly okay with leaving it with his Mercenary for Hire Joanna. Good thing they're all like Earth so much.
Or you know.
Just get a bullet through your brain.
One minute you're alive, a split second later your existence becomes nothing and you never even get to comprehend that you're dying/dead.
I want a Halo game that's true to lore.
Where you're super fast, inhumanly strong (no slapping melee fests, you punch an Elite and his head caves in if unshielded or glances off if shielded) and where the Covies are fucking wrecking shit.
That's not the say the UNSC would get slaughtered. On the ground the tenacity and steeled humans could put up quite the fight, despite the technical limitations.
It's just that as soon as the planetary defense weapons go down it's time to embrace the light.
>spartans do all this cool acrobatic super human shit in cutscenes
>can't do any of it in-game
How could anyone forget a weapon with an alt fire that shoots carniverous nanomachines that explode legs, then arms, then the head from the inside slowly.
Turok's main appeal was the poisoned arrows.
Damn, I love games where the bows is almost always a one-hit kill weapon.
Too bad I couldn't poison arrows in Far Cry 3 for maximum agony.
>poisoned enemy has his HP drained
>once it's dead, a long animation starts
>falls to his knees
>then puke ago
>falls in his own puke while groaning in pain
>finally die in his own puke
I remember keeping these for enemies I really hated.
I didn't read the thread but we have an actual weapon like that, they're called flechette rounds and they're basically tiny darts.
There's also been flechette explosive ordinance, in fact the jews have been accused of using flechette rounds in Gaza, and we've tried to make poison flechette guns
that's amazing anon
well, it's a blade of focused plasma. Another example of plasma in fiction is a lightsaber, in real life, lightining bolts, the sun, and plasma torches are all examples of plasmas.
Fun fact: it's entirely possible to create an energy sword in real life. it's actually really fucking simple. Plasma is effected by electromagnetic fields, so all the energy sword is is a hilt which creates the field, and a battery/generator which ionizes fuel into a plasma.
We can easily do the former part, I've seen kids muesiums that have small guided plasma tubes, it;s generating the plasma which is the hard part: it takes a fuckton of power.
This. The magnetic field is what shapes the blade and prevents it from spewing plasma everywhere.
However, plasma rifles and such are much harder. You have to create a magnetic bottle for the plasma to travel in, which will dissipate quickly as it leaves the weapon.
Corvette's and Frigates are about the same size nowadays. They used to be the in between of a PT Boat and a Frigate but now they're just lightly armed Frigates.
But yeah, you're right. Forgot about those things.
How to be wrong: The post
It had a story that didn't suck and standards for stories in shooters was pretty low back then, so that was something special.
Its 2 weapon limit wasn't important in itself but having different enemy types that were vulnerable to the different damage types was indeed something special.
It didn't have online multiplayer. Goldeneye doesn't hold up as well as you might think it does
eve online has autocannons and railguns that shoot at c-fractional or even superluminal speeds. You die before even thinking you died.
>someone remembers Turok:Evolution
>Turok 2's Scorpion missile launcher
You got any more info about the original script?
>Scorpion missile launcher
Heard that in Adon's voice, it never goes away.
God damnit anon
I know it's a joke weapon but it would be really shitty to get hit by this in real life.
As as bad as Postal 2's can of gas.
Usually, in video games, people on fire moves a bit and die. In Postal 2, they went as far as decided to even change the textures and makes it look like the guy was really burned.
Why do Sentinels barely get any love in the Halo games?
>Onyx was literally made out of Sentinels
>Sentinels can be as tiny as a bee or the size of buildings
>They number in the trillions
>Enough of them can destroy Covenant space ships
>Lasers that can gun through anything like butter.
Fuck I just want one damn mission where you fight off thousands+ sentinels and a few giant "Builder" sentinels ripping buildings apart and literally popping out smaller sentinels.
The boss robots from Descent. Imagine if they had all their ingame quirks, like teleportation, immunity to certain weapons, cloaking, those plasma balls if they're hit with 'energy' weapons in D2, materializing other robots... brrr.
>However balance for MP would be shit if one plasma bolt was enough to kill you.
I hate to be that guy who says "in the expanded universe," but in the novels, this is specifically explained by Covenant science and R&D being essentially nonexistent. They consider it blasphemy to try and innovate on Forerunner technology, and they have an extremely limited understanding of how it works. Consequently a lot of their shit operates at very significantly below peak efficiency.
This is illustrated in one of the novels when Cortana takes control of a Covenant ship. Those plasma cannons the Covenant have that release those dinky little blobs of plasma? Yeah, those things are supposed to be fucking beam weapons. She tears apart an entire Covenant fleet using just one of their own ships.
While the Stake Gun often gets praised, the titular weapon of the game, the Painkiller, is pretty fucking nasty.
>Humans used to have a massive empire that spanned the galaxy
>Mysteriously get sequestered to the one planet which has an evolutionary background that perfectly matches our own
NO FUCK YOUR SHIT HALO
THAT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE
WE EVOLVED ON EARTH
WE NEVER HAD A FUCKING SPACE EMPIRE BEFORE THAT SHIT YOU FUCKING CRETINOUS STOOGES
>This is specifically explained by Covenant science and R&D being essentially nonexistent. They consider it blasphemy to try and innovate on Forerunner technology, and they have an extremely limited understanding of how it works
That sounds a lot like another faction from a different scifi universe
....also the Flood started from humans putting alien powder on little space yorkies. The flood you see are descended from space yorkies.
Yea I'm exaggerating a little. But only a little.
You can shoot the gun from your hip with absolutely 0 recoil and absolutely 0 accuracy deteriation
That shit is INSANE.
All of the Painkiller weapons were 10/10, holy shit man
The shotgun especially, that fucking damage.
Well to be fair, you are a spartan and the gun still kicks.
Only time I saw marines using it was twice. Once in Halo 1, by some unnamed badass firing a rifle as he was tall, while running and dodging plasma. And then there was the opening to Mombasa with the marines using it like you know, an actual sniper rifle.
Only in the vanilla game. The expansion are ridiculous. Then they're not frank scams.
>that one expansions just takes MP maps and make them SP.
>that other one just constantly spawns enemies
>ctrl +f 'MARAUDER'
You don't want it
>spent 500mil on a game that will get mediocre sales
>terminated martin o'donnell
Even if Destiny is a decent game, any future Bungie games won't be the same.
Besides, maybe 343 will do well with Halo games from now on, maybe.
bungie lost two key aspects
martin is gone and their lead writer that was with them since the fucking start
if it isn't over for bungie its over now. we'll never get Oni 2 either.
Well HEAT rounds (a munition fired by most main battle tanks) from what I'm aware of are designed to kill the crew of an armored vehicle by spraying them with molten metal over outright destroying the vehicle.
I've only seen a handful of munitions as horrifying as that in fiction
Well I´m one of the Stake Gun praising dudes but what you gonna do when weapon shoots freaking 4 foot(?) wooden stakes makes the ragdoll go nuts, nail you to a wall or outright gib you to pieces.
>not shooting spinning stakes
How about the Armacham Type-12 Pulse Weapon from Fear. A gun that turns living, breathing human beings with aspirations, insecurities, hopes, and dreams immediately into FUCKING SKELETONS. Imagine how horrifying that would be to see a friend of yours vaporized like that. Imagine what it must feel like to be vaporized like that.
>mfw I'll never get a weapon like that in a free roam FPS game
Why are the best sniper rifle always in the corridors FPS?
Exception made for Blood Dragon's sniper rifle who shoots explosive rounds.
I can't help it but Halo is so fucking BLAND
The first one was something new, but if you're still dicking around with the same Needler and Grunts ten games later, it just doesn't cut it anymore.
I'd say it's on par with CoD shitting out game after game
>shoots an arrow in someone's leg
>it does nothing
>shoots someone's leg
Come on you piece of shit.
>I'll never get enemies to crawl away from me, both legs mutilated.
it's bethesda. they're lazy fucks. they just kept the crippling system from the orginal 3 games to put the fallout logo on. if black isle hadn't done criplling, neither would bethesda
But Skyrim came after New Vegas.
Logically, you would think that whoever did Skyrim would listen to players' complains and look at other games before making their own.
>mfw I remember Oblivion
>mfw I shot 75 arrows in a daedra to finally kill him
This is not what I call fun. It's RPG-like, okay. But making me feel that I'm just petting the monster, no.
>mfw all the babbies in this thread
I bet you fags cry when you hear the menu theme.
not only have i been here for five fucking years
but you are a total idiot because that second post wasn't even me, shitstain.
seriously, you fucking think halo is scary?
and I'M the child?
again, grow up, play some real games, kill yourself, etc
>this blind rage
>these delicious tears
these guys get it
Heh, I enchanted my bow to fire mini-nukes..25m radius fireball with elemental weakness to further increase the pain
Oblivion is all about the magic upgrades - get in the tower; laugh as you can now tear anything a new hole or three
If you had been here for five years you would be familiar with Halo on /v/, since it happened with Halo 3, Halo ODST and Halo Reach. Halo 4 was also widely discussed as well.
Being neo-/v/ has nothing to do with length of time on the board, it's how you act. Right now, you're acting like neo-/v/.
>mfw I realised that this thing is actually a ultramegadeathshotgun in disguise
>reading though JoJo
Just image that shit, that ain't a ghost town nigga
Destiny should rival it in ten years, although most of it is just following the same formulas of alien badguys, ancient races out to fuck everyone else up and crazed AIs (though surprisingly not from Ghost, it's Rasputin the war AI from old Russia
who hopped over to Mars on the comm relay and is hacking the Cabals shit)
I cannot be the only person who used the unlimited ammo cheat with the Firestorm Cannon, had a rumble pack on his controller, taped the trigger down and put the controller on my cock. I simply cannot be the only one
>Destiny has no cool alien weapons
>mfw they'll probably be DLC
