Looking forward to his smug as fuck taunting.
>nods to Hogan's Alley
Fucking awesome. I hope the chick from Barker Bill's Trick Shooting is also used.
Fuck I was hyped at first but now I am
>that final smash
oh my god im fuckin dyin
>Smash attacks involve the hunter shooting the screen
>mfw there's an invisible guy in the foreground aiming a rifle at everyone the entire time they're fighting
But the dog hunts the duck and helps his master gather them after they're killed. Why the fuck would they be doing anything together?
You see it was a set up the whole time.
The dog was faking and actually freeing all the birds you "shot", the birds were in on it and would fake being killed.
Duckhunt dog has the deepest lore.
>tfw there will never be a Banjo Kazooie game featuring Duck the Dog and Hunt the Duck
It would be cool if DHD's whole moveset was the duck goading the dog to attack it, but he dodges it causing the dog to hit the opponents.
Like the real fight was always between the duck and the dog, and the everyone else getting hurt was just collateral damage.
>Nintendo makes a new Light Gun for the Wii
>no Duck Hunt sequel
>yet Duck Hunt dog gets into Smash Bros
Things are getting weird....
I like to imagine that it's a Ralph and Sam kind of thing, where they're enemies while they're working but once the game is off they're actually good pals.
>all the light game heroes shooting for final smash
>his smashes have gun shots around him
>the duck just chilling on his back
>putting Duck Hunt Dog as a throwaway character on my Smash wishlists
This is what Ridleyfags will never feel.
Anon that is the best thing I've heard all day.
>Treehouse tomorrow shows announcement trailer for Duck Hunt
>You hear a gunshot and the dog runs through a field
>The dog carries the duck back to a shadowy figure
>The shadowy figure turns out to be Snake
>A day one patch puts Snake and other characters in because Sakurai knew people would get the game early
I wish this could happen. I'm happy with the roster, I'm just bummed about Snake being cut.
>>A day one patch puts Snake and other characters in because Sakurai knew people would get the game early
I'm surprised they didn't do timed unlock, this makes it tricky for leakers to get shit because they just won't know.
>intelligent systems makes it and not ex RARE staff or Sakurai
>Good gameplay but has no charm to it
>Development team later reveals Miyamoto made them remove any quirkyness to the characters/plot.
I fucking love how much detail is in his smashes. The right after that bit on the stream, she slowed it down to 1/4th time and did all his smashes and his final smash. In his smashes, look closely, he revs up like he's going to attack, and then the shot goes off and he gets scared and pulls back. Fucking brilliant.
Miyamoto wouldn't do that to someone else's creation. The only thing he sucked the life from was Sticker Star.
You could argue that he did that to STAIRFAX TEMPERATURES but he didn't really. He just suggested they use Star Fox assets since they were doing a fox character anyway.
I can't find any mention of it anywhere, but I swear I saw Gumshoe (pic related) somewhere. Can anyone else confirm it?
It was another NES lightgun shooter, I'd be really hyped to see that manage to make it into the moveset too.
only thing worth buying on the wii u are 3 mario platformers a mario kart and now the obligatory smash bros, fueled by autist hype
no starfox, no fzero, no good shit that made the gamecube fun like luigis mansion, metroid prime, eternal darknes, or even fucking monkey ball
Dude, Nintendo's BEEN weird
>In fact he basically plays how banjo would play
son of a bitch
sakurai didn't mean to add a shitty character
he just wanted something for the banjo-kazooie fans
maybe that was originally the intent but microsoft said no
Imagine if Rare was still owned by Nintendo we WOULD have Banjo & Kazooie
i didn't even know i wanted this but god would i do anything to make it happen
I want this so fucking badly.
There aren't any 3D collectathons anymore. The dog and duck are already lovable as fuck just going by their designs alone.
This could be a huge success.
Eh, I also don't really see this and think "Banjo-Kazooie OMG!"
The dog looks more black than brown, and if they turned the white parts of the bird yellow, and made his face red as well, then I'd see it.
>the jab, tilts and aerials all look like what Banjo and Kazooie would've had and are also reminiscent of the game
>The bird is always on the dog's back and is used as recovery
>there's a dark brown dog and red duck alt
>The final smash has Gunman attacking the player instead of the dog
kinda like the Jinjos in Grunty's battle
Theres a lot that looks the same. Its delusion yes but wishful thinking.
>the jab, tilts and aerials all look like what Banjo and Kazooie would've had and are also reminiscent of the game
you mean they look like what your hypothetical ideal of them would be?
get real. a banjo and kazooie character would use actual moves they used in the game. where's that running double-foot kick, the roll, the beak bayonet, attacking with the backpack, making kazooie walk for him (and probably kick), etc
MS Lawyers are no joke
Also on the side a White Mage reference? Also no Ms. Pac-Man that would be have been great since the big fem lineup.
I agree the Up-B reminds me it, but everything else like summoning the gunman and shit seems really different from BK.
When I first saw the two when they were leaked, I definately got a BK vibe, but after seeing them in action I don't really think so. And I'm sort of glad because they look awesome either way.
it's just that people are saying this, but if they'd actually played the games they would know what sort of moves BK would have, and they aren't the same as a quadrupedal dog with a sniper assistant and duck for jumping.
>The hunters in Duck Hunt were the Wild Gunmen all along
I FUCKING KNEW IT
Surprised nobody's photoshopped the image of Dog summoning a gunman to look like a page out of JoJo yet.
Only recently I fully realized what a crazy cool moveset Banjo and Kazooie could have
and now there's this. I love it. Screw you Rare, because Sakurai team can make a better B&K experience than you during overtime.
He better be in the next set of amiibo's
he'd gunna have a nice one
>there are people who seriously thought duck hunt dog had no possibility of a unique moveset
get fucked nerds, i was originally going to make him one of my mains but now i want to main him even more
We can have Zelda and Dog Hunt have their stands fight now
sakurai's next game will be a banjo-kaazoie clone featuring the dog and duck
the main collectible will be ducks(each with their own look and punny name) so duck hunt will still be an accurate title
how long until r34 of the duck
That final smash makes little sense with the other koopalings but I ain't even mad.
WHAT? ROY YOU COME BACK!
Fucking hell. Why can't all the characters be so well designed.
We still have captain Ganon, Toon Link has nothing from his games besides a taunt, same final smash for Zelda and Sheik, Falco is still forced to drive a tank and shit like that.
And then the complete oposite happens. Fucking hell Nintendo get your shit together
Wow they are really pushing it with that moveset. Barely has anything to do with duckhunt its all hogans alley shit. Might as well have just made a character from that game instead.
>that genuine fear when the Zapper shoots all around him during his Smash attacks
>His small robot with a face that he rides in has drills
yeah, they are weird with the koopalings, but fuck it im excited to play Lemmy now
Honestly, all the new Smash 4 characters (besides Lucina and Dark Pit) are just so in-detail. Love how even their normals are visually distinct and referential.
Yeah, it sucks the old characters couldn't get an upgrade, but I guess radically changing them after 10+ years might be weird.
A fucking Duck Hunt Banjo Clone with Grant would be too much to handle
And Wild Gunmen. Think of him as a composite character representing the light gun games, like how Mr. Game and Watch represents all Game and Watch games, instead of just Cement Factory or some shit.
>He has one of the small robots from WooHoo Hooniversity as an attack
Holy fucking shit.
I thought it was weird that he was just called Duck Hunt
>mfw I realized it's a Duck and a dog named Hunt
Remember - They put a yellow meme-ball in the game, and everyone thought that was a really cool idea too. They even had to make up attacks for him because there was no canon moveset for him to have. They'll have to do the same thing for the Duck Hunt dog.
People are just like "omg its a dog lol i have dogs lol i like dogs lol" so they think it's cool. Those are the kind of people who think it's a good idea.
Another thing. Read the following in the announcer's voice:
One of those does not belong. I've even heard people say that he'll be called "Duck Hunt", because "THEY DO IT ON THE JAPANESE VERSIONS OF THE GAME", but why infest Europe and America with that shit? It's stupid. Leave that kind of stupid illogical shit to Japan.
By that logic, we'll might as well start calling Luigi "Luigi's Mansion".
There is literally no good argument for the Duck Hunt dog's existence in the game.
Anti Duck Hunt dog arguments:
- Not a recognizable or significant character
- Not even a cool character
- His moveset won't make sense or relate to the character
- What the fuck will they even call him
Pro Duck Hunt dog arguments:
- B-BUT MUH DOG
>3D platform game
>Duck rides on the back of the dog
>Duck uses a light gun to kill enemies
>Banjo Kazooie style interactions with each other
>Big open levels
I want this so bad guys, so fucking bad...
In my opinion, giving new, more fitting movesets to old clone characters can only help looking the game more interesting and more worthy of a purchase.
> Woah man check this out Gdorf got his specials revamped.
>Neutral B now launches a small energy ball that can be returned to you if timed right, but check this your basic A instead of being that thrust is a pimp slap that makes you bounce that shit back again!
Wouldn't you like to at least try it? Wouldn't you be curious, interested and willing to try it right away?
>No deku leaf
>No pictograph machine
>No something that is unique to him or the games he has been featured.
>Just Link in a different body size.
No anon, you are the retarded.
>BK skin for based Duck Hunt Dog
>the paintbrush is the final smash
The duck is used for
Jab A combo
Down Air (he grabs the duck and uses it as a club)
Mostly Aerials except forward air. he rolls with dog for Neutral Air
Smashes are the Light Gun explosions, as if the light gun characters where trying to shoot at the duck.
I already wanted to main him, now I don't think I can even ever play as anyone else.
Also for Grab A Punches. He pecks them
He also aids the dog doing his mid-air jump by flapping on his back.
Definitely not ornamental, but I also wished they had even more attacking together feel.
>that autistic faggot screencaping everyone and saying he would enjoy their tears when Duck Hunt was proven fake
Its probably people pissed that a fucking dog is a playable smash character. Im not sure how to describe it but i guess people just feel uncomfortable with the decision of him being in.
also, with the Pac-Man "namco museum" attacks, they worked that same logic into DHD beautifully.
>hogan's alley reference
>attacks based around having someone off screen shoot a zapper
In Nintendo's weird world they see changing Ganon's moveset as the same as if you suddenly made Ken not a shoto. I can see why they think it though. There would always be people upset if their favorite character got radically changed because they play them for their playstyle.
>Jr. gets his voice actor
>Bowser roars like a monster
>Dark Pit, Lucina, and Dr. Mario are characters
>Alph is a costume
>In Smash, Yoshi has never been considered part of the Mario series before
>Is placed between the Mario characters on the CSS
SAKURAI STOP BEING SO INCONSISTENT GOD DAMMIT
>yfw they are the true replacements for the Ice Climbers.
I'm not against them getting in, I'm just going to miss my favorite characters. I'm excited, but I wish it was left as a surprise instead of finding out this early. That's what I get for being stuck on /v/.
What are the chances that we'll get a new Duck Hunt game?
It's just like how Pac-Man is carrying as much of Namco with him into battle. Duck Hunt Dog sounds silly, but that's what makes it fun. I couldn't even imagine a moveset for him. The Final Smash reminds me of Mega Man's.
Didn't initially think it was a good idea, butlooks hype as fuck. Can't wait.
Greatest Kirby power up? I think so.
So, Bowser Jr. is kind of like MODOK. I wonder if he has Analyze Cubes.
FS seems kind of weak, though. Still, a very novel idea.
Also, DHDawg is a fucking genius character idea. The fact that his smash attacks are just him dodging his master's shots is a very well-executed idea.
Pit got a game due to a good reception of him in Brawl. If people are vocal for their love of the Duck Hunt Dog then there's a good chance of a new Duck Hunt game.
This is beating a dead horse, as you and i both know that current cap. Ganon moveset could be reused for Black Bull or even Blood Falcon, literally a clone of Falcon in game, and give Ganon new moves inspired from his appareances.
Like fighting with a trident or having a rush attack with two swords or condensing a huge ball of dark magic that splits in lots of smaller balls that homes into nearby enemies or what the fuck i don't even know, i'm not a game creator. Imagine what truly talented people could come with.
>Nintendo originally wanted Banjo-Kazooie and James Bond in Smash 64
>Snake has a similar theme to James Bond
>Duck Hunt dog has a similar theme to BK
I feel like this character is a long time in the making.
Answer me this, /v/: if they got a new game like Banji-Kazooie, would the dog use guns or fight like Banjo? If he fights like Banjo, his moveset would change on Smash 5? Would we have shitstorm?
I heard Pit got into Smash Bros. because he was a highly requested character, and eventually Uprising happened. I've always thought that they put him in to promote Uprising, but I'm not so sure.
Now that I finally see him, I'm all in support for the Duck Hunt Dog. I really hope they make a new one with the classic included because eventually they'll be completely phased out. Supposedly the Light Guns don't work with modern TVs.
I still hope that Ice Climbers eventually get a new game to make up for their cut.
I agree with you and even called Nintendo's logic twisted. It's the same thing with how Lucina couldn't be a costume for Marth because they use a different sword. At the end of the day Nintendo is a huge corporation and at least Sakurai is out of touch with what fans want because he set himself all these stupid rules with the series that people wouldn't care if he broke because it would make a better game.
SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN PIT AND DARK PIT'S MOVESET
NOBODY HAS SAID A PEEP ABOUT IT
I USED THE WORD PEEP BECAUSE THIS THREAD INVOLVES AVIAN CREATURES AND PEEPS ARE A CANDY THAT IS MEANT TO LOOK LIKE AVIAN CREATURES, SO IT'S TOPICAL
Not really. He's a general representative. That Link specifically is not the Hero of Winds Link, he's an amalgamation of the design used in WW, PH, ST, MC, FSA and so on. A neutral moveset is the best option for him, not one focused entirely on Wind Waker.
I don't wanna be that guy, but I dug out my instruction manual. The dog's real name is
From what I've seen and heard:
>Arrows do more damage at close range and get weaker at longer range, and it looks like they're bigger and only go straight.
>Side B is the Electroshock Arm instead of Upperdash Arm, it has less vertical knockback but hits multiple times and has more hitstun with an electrical effect.
>Down B apparently hits enemies around him.
>Final Smash is the Dark Pit Staff.
I haven't seen much of the down B and I've only seen a screenshot of the Final Smash which looks like Zelda/Sheik's Final Smash.
What do they call themselves again?
What about the Duck's name? What if the Duck's name is Hunt and he is controlling Chester's mind.
>Smashes are the Light Gun explosions, as if the light gun characters where trying to shoot at the duck.
this is so fucking cool
look zt their expressions when its happening too
I really doubt it.
Yeah, and he was total horseshit. He's more suitable for a game like smash.
>Final smash looks like Zelda/Shiek's Final Smash
Why not give him that attack from chapter 6 where he shoots up into the air and the platform gets bombarded with arrows?
They are nameless for they are the physical manifestations, the very concept of NES light gun games. They exist as a notion in our minds. They are within and without. Forever eternal. Forever internal.
>Brawl introduced ROB, an old Nintendo peripheral
>This game introduces Duck Hunt, which represents the light gun, an old Nintendo peripheral
>Next game has a
Well, the dog's smash attacks have the hunter shoot to the left, to the right, and above the dog.
Clearly the dog has switched sides and the hunter is trying to kill them both.
I might, too. I'm a bit disappointed the staff is only his Final Smash, but I like him enough and I was going to play a Pit either way. It also seemed like he had better colors, so that might be a small bonus.
>Duck Hunt Dog
>Make a bunch of sharpshooter miis that look like the cast of duck dynasty
This is obviously the greatest smash ever.
Not a game but put this fucker in to represent the Powerglove.
Any good Robin gameplay yet? I still don't fully understand how he works
So, I went to bed last night before any of the streams managed to unlock the entire roster, IE when I went to bed the padlock was still on all-star mode(and I believe no one had rob unlocked yet).
Has the entire roster been unlocked, or did they go to bed too since it was late in japan?
I'd like some evidence, as theres a lot of misinformation floating around. Like how "bowser jr is a clone of diddy kong" and "master hand has the same attacks".
and you dare say that when snake isn't even here
>Clearly the dog has switched sides and the hunter is trying to kill them both.
This is probably the likely context if I've ever heard one.
Smash attacks use the Levin sword
>Added electricity and extra dmg
>Uses up "durability" of the sword
>Once it "breaks" you get the bronze sword to replace it. It's weaker and no electricity.
>Once broken it'll recharge after a certain amount of time
Tomes are basically the same thing except each of the 4 tomes (Wind, Fire, Thunder, Darkness) all have individual "duribility"
The entire roster was unlocked, someone got the congratulations message and the lock removed from allstar. It's exactly the same as the one from the ESRB leak. No final five, Lucas, Wolf and Ice Climbers are dead.
Did you know that the green-headed on is the male and the brown-specked one is female?
I didn't ever quite get why people didn't like him at first.
I mean is this how Game&Watch and ROB were received? Both of those are really fun characters, and Duck Hunt looks like one of the coolest new additions.
Welp, we have ourselves a new fighter.
It's the blond guy
>implying the hunter isn't just the average Duck Hunt player getting fed up with the laughing little shit and finally taking his revenge
Maybe if it weren't for Muh nado Kirby
He probably didn't make that picture. People here don't care about being using the right context or knowing what they talk about, most of the people here like to shit post, troll, bait, rustle, ruse, what ever it is they call it now a days.
he is an assist trophy. He spews speech bubbles with numbers in them, and players can attack them to bounce them around. If two speech bubbles collide their numbers are added together, and if the number reaches 10 the bubble explodes
"Fuck it, I'm just gonna put it out there:
(And I'm not saying this to troll fans or keep the hype up or whatever.)
I have a source who has been right about previous leaks and has worked on the European localization of the game. He says he has definitely seen moving models of Dixie, Ridley, Chorus Men and Mewtwo in the game and he's still confident that these four characters can be unlocked by linking the 3DS version to the Wii U version.
Now, I know how outlandish this sounds, and being a game journalist myself I'm taking this with a grain of salt myself, but we're talking about the guy who told me about the Bowser Jr. alts immediately after the ESRB leaks and has never been wrong about other stuff as well. Plus, the whole connectivity thing makes far too much sense, if only to get fans to buy both versions. *insert itprintsmoney.gif here*
Again, I swear on my soul that I'm not trolling. Time will tell. I thought Ridley was never gonna be in, but hey."

Zipzo (who is credible, he posted a lot of info from the final JP smash build a few days ago) tweeted this:
"Mewtwo is in."
[source -> https://twitter.com/zipzoatmeal/stat...1653244628992]
Its happening Banjo bros.. He never forgot about us.
Will be maining
>I took a big risk on my informants info and I was wrong. I wanted Mewtwo badly, trust me. I didn't lie, I was lied to. Can't apologize enuf.
Post what you want Retro to make
>Mini master hand is playable
One of these days i swear
"Duck Hunt" is such a silly name. Yeah I get the dog apparently doesn't have a name and that needed something.
I'd have gone with "Dogbird"
>people voting for MORE metroid
>people memevoting for duck hunt 3d platformer
I guess I don't really blame you, the rest of the choices suck. the fuck is TPS doing in mah donkey kong
>Being not relevant in ANYTHING in the past 20 years
>Makes it into smash over more deserving franchises with less character reps.
>"Hunt the Duck"
>The game is about Hunting Ducks.
Time for lore?
>Master Hand reveals it wasn't his only form.
>Transforms into Power Glove.
the Virtual Boy.
>Smash Bros. is about a kid playing with toys.
His dad works at Nintendo.
His dad gets ideas from his him.
The kid is playing with some of Nintendo's failed projects.
Smash to rehash.
They're the same kind of character in that they represent a whole of something. Pacman represents Namco's arcade days, Duck Hunt represents the Light Gun NES games, and G&W represents G&Ws.
It would bother me more if they didn't.
That is the era they are from. I especially love that they gave Duckhunt some of the other light-gun NES game sprite as abilities. It's a lovely nod to a bygone age, and the history of the company.
If that bothers you, maybe you're in the wrong hobby.
>DHD is in and Roy, Lucas, and Wolf are out
let that sit in for a little
>a unique character is in instead of clones
I think it works pretty well. It'd be questionable if either was just a big sprite, but as an effect for attacks it works well.
I do kind of wish Flying Man wasn't a sprite, though.
>I...I...w-was just pretending to be retarded
