RECOMMEND ME SOME GOOD GAMES WITH MECHS AND/OR GIANT FUCKING ROBOTS
I was playing the original SNES Mechwarrior, it was ok. Kind of reminds me of Proto-Armored Core.
Also, you probably want to play Living Legends if you like MW, it's like MWO with a ton more stuff, better mechanics, but sadly no mech lab. It's also combined arms, so expect to see tanks, VTOLs, Aerospace Fighters, and Battle Armor.
>micromanaging every aspect of a mech and fully customizing your experience
>challenging and intense fast paced gameplay
>thousands of mech combinations
How is super slow mech fighting better? I doubt you've even played AC.
I just beat FM3 yesterday, it's cool because of the customization but it's way too easy.
I'M OKAY WITH MECHA GAMES TOO.
WHAT ARE SOME GOOD MECHA GAMES?
For Answer in its prime was goddamn fun, but unless you like going fast it might not be your thing. Hell, every time I see one of these threads nobody recommends Armored Core. Is it just not considered a true mech game or something.
or is it just too obvious?
If you don't have Extreme Versus (Full Boost) already, go get it.
Shit's really fucking good.
Also, if you can emulate Dreamcast, go get yourself a copy of Virtual On. It's really quite something.
Someone's always bound to mention For Answer.
I've been getting into the AC series too lately.
Beaten AC1, AC4, and ACforanswer. I actually liked AC4 the best, the mech handling was better suited to all-range combat. In AC:FA, you couldn't turn for shit so you were stuck with mid to long range combat.
As far as I'm concerned though AC games are fucking great, just a little too short now that the online is dead.
They actually put a damn good amount of detail into this game, and it has some great controls for a PS2 game that technically doesn't have an "up" or "down" in stages.
>tfw fighting Char as Amuro outside of the cockpit and re-enacting the swordfight from the movie while Encounters plays in the background
>Couldn't turn for shit
I'm sorry but this post riled up my autism for a second. You know that there is a dedicated button combination that turns you 180 degrees instantly right? You can turn even farther with a light ac/high end boosters and the right tuning.
I see. I guess I really don't know what I'm talking about since I've never touched 4. While we're on the subject of AC, why does everyone find Silent Line to be so great? I thought it was worse than LR, FA, and even
Are you looking for super robot stuff or simulation stuff?
>Gundam Battle Universe (really the entire Gundam Battle series for the PSP
>Metal Wolf Chaos
>Mech Warrior series
I don't know many good mech sims. Never was really a fan of them anyway.
>How is super slow mech fighting better?
Because it's 100x more tactical than the arcade shooter AC games. Despite MWO's balance issues, the close range knife-fighting in that game is amazing (when it actually happens, since the battlefield is dominated by PPC and gaussfaggots). In MW games, you don't just blast away at your opponent, you first examine his loadout, try to remember or guess where certain weapons or equipment might be located and then try to blow out specific body parts with well aim shots while protecting your own ass from similar tactics via torso twisting and minimizing the exposure of your own vulnerable components. High level infighting in MW games is an artform, while combat in AC games is just arcade shootan until it stops moving.
>Back when I was a kid, rent Armored Core 1
>Couldn't even get the game started because for some reason I insisted on building a 4-legged AC with gigantic cannons and shit
>Refused to cut down the weapons or legs so I just never played it for the duration of the rental
Is Gungriffon Blaze any good? I've got a PS2 copy but don't have a PS2 on-hand to play it.
Also, any of you niggas play tabletop Battletech? Building mechs for that shit is fun.
ORIGINAL OR DIRECTOR'S CUT?
OR NEITHER BECAUSE OF KIKESTARTER?
This. Zone of the Enders 2 I should mention kicks ass.
Also the Front Mission games. Front Mission 3 has some flaws but like most Squaresoft games of that era the soundtrack is fantastic.
Bitch, please, AC has never and will never have anything similar to even fucking MWO level of team based close combat tactics, let alone tactical battles on the level of some of the best MW4 player run league teams.
Have you even played an AC game? It same shit happens just at 10x the speed. If your enemy has high ACT missles, you better time your boosting correctly to dodge underneath them otherwise you'll get blasted. Or If you're fighting a heavily armed high weight AC I like to stay in the air as long as possible because heavy weapons tend to have poor accuracy. Using the terrain and zigzaging between buildings is necessary when fighting heavy weapons too. If you just start circle strafing your opponent and firing whatever the fuck you have then you're guaranteed to die. It's more about managing distance and being better at boosting in order to maximize your own locks while minimizing your opponent's chances to fire on you. All at like 1000+kph
But mechwarrior fans ways disregard AC because of muh realism even though the entire genre of mech/mecha is totally unrealistic.
I'm not saying in terms of quality but more in terms of feel
IMO both are hard when you don't know what you are doing and have controls that fells clunky but are perfectly fine once mastered
>It same shit happens just at 10x the speed.
No, it's not. MW games are all about multiplayer and team play, fuck single player shitters who can't specify the location of a fucking gauss rifle on a fucking atlas in their sleep. AC games are nowehre near MW games when it comes to team-based gameplay, coordination and team tactics.
MW4 held some of the most exciting and high-level tactical mech tourneys in the history of vidya, AC games are just arcade shooters in comparison.
Would any of you guys play this?
Mecha game that's 40% Starblade, 40% Omega Boost, and 20% Sin & Punishment. Stages seamlessly transfer from "speed mode" (Starblade-style rail shooting) and "mobility mode" (Omega Boost-style shooting and moving, with some Sin & Punishment elements like the sword and quick dash), 100% controlled with the mouse?
>tfw my dream mecha game is Gundam Extreme Vs with a SRW cast list and Custom Robo/MS Saga: A New Dawn customization options with online multiplayer
>It will never be made
:( it's multiplayer is dead. :( it was only multiplayer.
if you never got a chance to play it that sucks man
I really want an XCOM style Armored Core game where you own your own corporation.
>building your own HQ, complete with retarded superweapons or turning it into a mobile fortress and all kinds of whacky over the top shit
>building your own signature MT units to deploy on missions or to sell to other parties
>building your own signature AC parts and selling them to other parties or keeping them for your own personal corporation super AC (think White Glint)
>intense pilot management since none of your pilots can actually be trusted and will most likely change sides for better profit
>we live in the universe where the mechwarrior license was run into the ground by incompetent devs wanting to make a quick buck
>MWO will never be a good game
Reminder that Mechwarrior's designs, when not directly lifted from anime, take some amount of inspiration from it.
Reminder that someone who is not familiar with the source material cannot actually tell the difference between western robots and eastern robots, and the distinction is purely in your minds.
Reminder that it's okay to like anime, and that nobody will judge you for doing so, but everybody will judge you for being a colossal fucking faggot about not liking it.
>tfw there will never be a good Front Mission ever again.
>yfw Front Mission Evolved happened
Has anyone heard about a game called Perpetuum on steam? It looks like EVE but you're set on a planet and there's giant robots everywhere. Also, unlike EVE, it looks like you actually have some degree of control over what you're piloting other than drop-down menus.
Unlike Evangelion, Xenogears was actually thoughtfully constructed. Eva is all lazy symbolism that didn't mean anything, Xeno has the best lore ever constructed for a vidya gaem.
they got all the licenses over the table, but the issue is that they got them all from japan, the studios that actually made them
the distributors that owned the licenses in america were not happy with it, so because of it they were able to use all of the designs in their japanese books but not the english ones
>Survives in space by wrapping a scarf around his face and holding his breath
Absolutely terrible. I went into it without ever having played a real Front Mission title and I still felt insulted by how bad the game was.
>movement hardly has any weight to it, feels like a really slow TPS instead
>most parts are straight upgrades on each other which eliminates a lot of customization
>some missions remove customization entirely by forcing you to use a certain chassis (Ex: you have to use quad legs during some shitty defense mission despite the fact that bipeds would be a lot more useful)
>shitty infantry missions that are really boring
>buttfuck stupid storyline even for a Jap game
I had more fun playing the singleplayer Chromehounds campaign than I did with this game. It was so bad that I can barely even remember most of it, I kind of forced myself to forget about it so I could feel better. I feel bad for actual Front Mission fans who played it, some of them probably committed sudoku from how bad it was.
guys my first mech was mech assault for original xbox, that shit was fun
whats some more stuff like that.
pls no bully
If you like crazy arcady stuff, Gundam VS. Extreme Full Boost is the best fucking thing I've ever played in a while.
Gundam Breaker is bretty cool too. It's like a simpler Armored Core, but Gundam.
>MWLL's development was shut down so that MWO wouldn't have competition
I hate them so much.
It really goes to show how fucked up it is that a group of fans made a better MechWarrior game than the guys with an actual budget rather than just their free time.
>tfw no first/third person Eva game with OR support
>tfw you will never be a badass Eva pilot
>No Metal Fatigue
This must be rectified
I'm currently playing it and not really digging it as a whole.
Kinda weird since it improves on the things implemented in 4 and you also have hardblow back which was missing in 4 for some weird reason.
Okay, how do you get it to run on modern OS/hardware?
>tfw my only original disc of it broke due to a bad storm
Feels bad, I also loved the added demos of Cap'n Claw among others.
>There will never be a Shogo 2 with FEAR-tier TECHNOLOGY
>it's cool because of the customization but it's way too easy.
This. There's just no tactics, let alone strategy involved. All you have to do is get your wanzers in range and take out the enemy one by one. I played through the game earlier this year for the first time and felt like there was zero challenge. It's almost like playing a game like Gono Homo where you can't die no matter what you do.
Haven't been on in a few months so I don't know how active it is. It was pretty dead even during the most active times. I can still remember the emblems of pretty much any player or team that played regularly and it was usually just the same people fighting each other with barely any unfamiliar faces. This was on the 360 though, it might be better on the PS3.
The game itself is pretty good but it relies on the multiplayer a lot. You probably won't like it a lot if you only want to play singleplayer. The campaign is fun but I definitely didn't play through it as many times as I did For Answer.
I have a buddy who was one of the top players back in beta. He watched that game go from promising to what is it now.
I've never seen a man more defeated by a video game in my life.
but here is some EVA attacks for you.
Tho DS ganes had better attack animations
I don't have their webms tho.
Was a fun game even for a person who's not that huge fan of fighters.
Play some SRW OG games OP, some of them have english release/translation
If you want it as a more sim or strategy aproach with less shiny eyecandy
Titans of Steel: Warring Suns
It's free too, so nothing lost by trying cases paniaxt
Man, I remember that game is the reason I stopped reading IGN reviews. The reviewer complained it was nothing but an on-rails shooter and gave it a horrible score. When I played the game for myself I realized he never made it past the tutorial missions.
I hear ya, the only tough fight was against the quibing01's. then I got there suits and steamrolled the game. melee is so overpowered, 30 hours in he game just felt like a chore because it was so easy, I just blasted through everything
love and destroy
remote control dandy
strike suit zero / infinity
armoured core series
gundam blue destiny trilogy
Robot Alchemic Drive
My friend has it, it's pretty decent, but there is second one coming out soon.
And gameplay wise Gundam VS is still better experience. Import that instead, it doesn't even need any knowledge of japanese, while I think breaker does need some.
Too bad the new one is going to be "m-muh eSports" online shit.
>kickstarted f2p game trying to be esports
Just downloaded this and got hyped as fuck on the intro music, then lost all will to play after starting the tutorial. Is this really worth getting into? The game looks like shit.
remember Heavy Gear 2 ..holy shit..that map in the forest
