I still wish that we didn't get all that dialogue cut.
It's the only thing I'm bitter about after having finished the game. Probably would've made a lot of the 'empty' areas where nothing was really happening feel a lot more lively.

Did anyone else find the game pretty mediocre? Maybe I was disappointed because it wasn't MMZ, but I though the electricity wasn't that fun. Orochi was the only good unlockable gun, and up until the true final boss the game was unbearably easy.

What was cut was voice-acted dialogue that would play-out while you ran through stages or fought bosses. Banter between Gunvolt and his allies, or enemies yammering on, banter between Gunvolt and the bosses he's fighting, etc. etc.

All of that is gone in the english release.

I really want to like this game, but Gunvolt is really overpowered and the Monster Hunter-style item crafting is really annoying here. Every single stage is effectively a time/score attack to facilitate MAT farming, and because of that there's no exploration or secrets to find in levels. Whereas in Mega Man games you would be rewarded for searching about with new upgrades like air dashing or double-jumping, now you simply craft them using materials that are mostly rewarded at random. The only collectables available are these jewels which I have to assume leads to a "good" ending, I haven't found all of them. But I can honestly say that I've never "discovered" them; they end up in my inventory almost at random from my perspective since they're almost unnoticeable, and for a while I thought jewels were awarded for getting high scores.

Similarly, skills are given to you when you level up, as opposed to Mega Man games giving them to you for beating bosses. This makes the triumph of defeating a boss feel more hollow than ever before, and keeps you from using anything other than your default attacks for the vast majority of your play time.

Overall, the game feels very solid from a programming viewpoint, but ridiculously flawed from a conceptual one. Some of the decisions here are simply baffling to me, and make me just want to replay Mega Man Zero again.

Flashfield pushes the drills up or down. If you're standing on the ground when they hit your flashfield they will never ever hit you. The physics are a bit wierd though, so if you're ascending and flashing sometimes the drills rise with you.
TL:DR If you're grounded, flashfield will ALWAYS push them away, if you're trying to jump over them, keep flash off.

How many missions have you S/S+'ed? I've gotten all of the acheivements for 1st Sumeragi, and I've S ranked half of the main missions, sinner's row, urban run, and the first special mission(voltaic chains in the room with 2 gunners +3-4 drones, with a combo of ~1500 already, I was set for the rest of the level). Granted this is without really trying very hard to score attack any of them except Babel and 1st Sumeragi. If you've S ranked media tower I'd love tips, I'm not finding a lot of good combo potential.

I've done 1st sumeragi, all 6 main missions, sinners row and urban run with an S+ rank.

Media tower has some surprising good combos, tons of triples and even a few electric combos. I think the first set of enemies you come across can be hit for triples, and just before the purple gate, there's a formation of a soldier and 3 floating enemies that you can hit for electric.

Once you've used the first jump pads and are heading left, defeating the missile enemy then taging the next 3 you come across can get you another triple.

The climb is dangerous though, you'll just have to remember where those mechs pop out, but there's still plenty of potential for triple combos there.
