>>262570301 "It", "They" There's no reason to bring tumblr SJW lingo into a game where it has no place being there, unless you're trying to push an agenda. Games that do that do not deserve any support.
I still wish that we didn't get all that dialogue cut. It's the only thing I'm bitter about after having finished the game. Probably would've made a lot of the 'empty' areas where nothing was really happening feel a lot more lively. And of course, character and story bits that I care more about than that.
Did anyone else find the game pretty mediocre? Maybe I was disappointed because it wasn't MMZ, but I though the electricity wasn't that fun. Orochi was the only good unlockable gun, and up until the true final boss the game was unbearably easy. Also cut content, and shit translation xe
8-4 ruins another translation the game Reminder: Bravely Default had costumes de-lewded Reminder: Fire Emblem Awakening had a silent character option they were too lazy to translate and added censorship in conversations AND in game art Reminder: Changed the blood in MGRR from white to red even though it contradicts the rest of the series Reminder: these fags are translating Mighty No 9
>>262573523 How am I acting like the world's ending? The devs made awful decisions, and I won't support them for it. It's not complicated, and I'm not ranting on twitter and getting legions of supporters to petition the devs to change it like SJWs do. I'm just not buying the game or any other game from the company.
>>262574252 I despise NISA more since I used to be a devout customer of theirs. But I refuse to tolerate censorship in any form, this shit is pretty disgusting. 8-4 essentially gave this game the Mugen Souls treatment.
>>262574402 Barring the Xe-whatever crap, the dialogue is what I'm pissed about. What was it? Almost an hour's worth of dialogue if we count the time that the voice acting in it runs for, or am I over-estimating?
And I had a thought: You think the plans to scrap a dub were dropped halfway through the localization process? I keep thinking that that's the reason behind why the names of some of the special attacks from the bosses got changed.
>>262574782 >They probably didn't have the money, meaning it's not their fault. Then why remove the voice acting? And isn't that character more of two people in one body than someone identifying as something they're not?
>>262574782 > The Jap version had in mission dialogue all over the place retard, which was all removed out of laziness, and more than two different Joule conversations >didn't habe the money then why not keep the jap voices in? >prescribed ways These aren't real words, and don't appear in any dictionary, there is no right way to use them, and it is unfaithful to the original dialogue
>>262574782 >Removed tons of dialogue, in mission and in Joule conversations >
Hey, you. Idiot. Dumbshit. Do you know anything about the game you're trying to defend? This is a video of some Japanese gameplay during that boss rush. Forgive the guy talking over the video. Try ignore him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQoQqgiDfK4
What was cut was voice-acted dialogue that would play-out while you ran through stages or fought bosses. Banter between Gunvolt and his allies, or enemies yammering on, banter between Gunvolt and the bosses he's fighting, etc. etc.
>>262575042 I'd say 30 minutes to an hour of dialogue was removed, probably 20 lines per level, none of which is voice acted, even in Japanese. The dub was probably dropped pretty early, characters don't even have grunts or shouts like FEA did. >>262575353 Read the list of bad xseed shit here and take a guess >>262572531
>>262576750 If you watch videos of the Jap version you can here the dialogue in the gameplay. No translation as far as I know. It's only on 3DS, so a fan patch won't happen anytime soon, and the game doesn't have a lot of buzz from what i've seen, so I'd be surprised if anyone's working on it
>>262577247 >W-waaah! I'm getting fucking paranoid over two words only used once in the whole game! That must mean the industry is turning on me! I b-b-better burst into the thread and shitpost like gaming can't be saved!
>>262572531 >>262572748 Whoa whoa whoa there cowboy The blood in Metal Gear has already been explained within the context of the game. It's not like they took some sort of creative liberty, the red blood fits the series perfectly.
>>262578209 They probably don't even use any gender-specific pronouns to refer to the character in Japanese. Probably because it's rare to use gender-specific pronouns in Japanese. It's probably something that, literally translated, would be like, "that person," or something.
>>262577994 >clearly do bad translations, with constant edits to the original game and spelling errors >but it's games I don't like!!! shut up, retard >>262578150 The translation did. The original version kept the white blood. >>262578209 no
>>262578209 the original jp uses gender-neutral language so technically 'xe' works as a translation, it just feels off because 1) it's uncommon enough in conversational english that it can break immersion and 2) it carries SJW connotations (if that bothers you)
>>262578603 but they do, why would the developers of Metal Gear Rising decide that Americans couldn't see white blood after 9 games where they did, when 8-4 even admitted in an interview that they changed it because they thought it looked to much like semen?
I really want to like this game, but Gunvolt is really overpowered and the Monster Hunter-style item crafting is really annoying here. Every single stage is effectively a time/score attack to facilitate MAT farming, and because of that there's no exploration or secrets to find in levels. Whereas in Mega Man games you would be rewarded for searching about with new upgrades like air dashing or double-jumping, now you simply craft them using materials that are mostly rewarded at random. The only collectables available are these jewels which I have to assume leads to a "good" ending, I haven't found all of them. But I can honestly say that I've never "discovered" them; they end up in my inventory almost at random from my perspective since they're almost unnoticeable, and for a while I thought jewels were awarded for getting high scores.
Similarly, skills are given to you when you level up, as opposed to Mega Man games giving them to you for beating bosses. This makes the triumph of defeating a boss feel more hollow than ever before, and keeps you from using anything other than your default attacks for the vast majority of your play time.
Overall, the game feels very solid from a programming viewpoint, but ridiculously flawed from a conceptual one. Some of the decisions here are simply baffling to me, and make me just want to replay Mega Man Zero again.
>>262579004 See >>262578971 Changes made in a translation must always be cleared. You don't just unilaterally change game elements, especially when they involve technical changes beyond replacing text/script.
>>262579323 And your evidence for this is what? It must be incredibly good if it also negates the long, long history of Japanese developers believing westerners won't like or can't handle various things.
>>262580391 >i want her to sing during the final boss but i dunno if she can? Are we talking final boss, or final-final boss? If we're talking about Nova, I know she can sing during that. It's how I cleared the game the first time through.
>>262579963 As much as I hate that the localizers think that they can just change shit for no reason, I actually believe that the exposed midriff just looked fucking stupid, like it always looks stupid on men. Men don't need to cover up their chests, so if the designer wants to show off his abs, then he can just go completely shirtless. Also, exposed midriff on women breaks up the upper and lower portions of their bodies and accentuates their curves, but this doesn't work for men.
>>262569109 The thing I hate the most about this pic is that you fuckers ignore or as is more likely don't even know what happens in the following five minutes: Gunvolt gets disgusted at him, Copen shoots him in the back of the head and calls him a abomination and them the main antagonists receives the news that he died and barely gives a fuck while his underling is weirded out even talking about him
>>262581441 You're such a paranoid fuck that the mere mere use of the word in a fucking bad guy that you are supposed to not like is pushing a agenda? How fuck up your own ass are you on your righteous crusade?
>>262579963 its extremely feminine and make him look like a huge faggot. what little kid on the eshop is going to think some fag with an exposed midriff and a pony tail is cool. if i was localizing this game i would have gotten rid of the midriff too
>>262581943 What little kids are this game aimed at? >>262582041 No shit. And once again you must prove this wasn't approved by the Japanese people who actually made the game and programmed any changes.
I hope Coppen isn't dead, he could appear in the future with even more shield abilities to fights, he was interesting and if they wanted they could make him a "megaman" with his whole stealign abilities.
>>262581983 You can use Astrasphere to destroy them and damage the head and them use Luxcalibur to kill him and get a S rank on that part
>>262581686 If there's anyone needing a trigger warning, it's the guys who get crazy worked-up when they see "xe" used in proper context.
I'm not bothered by it because HURR-DURR TUMBLR, but more because it's such an alien term to use that it probably throws off most players when they read it. When I first skimmed it while reading, I had to stop to realize that the X-whatever pronouns weren't someone's name.
Although on one hand, it sort of almost sounds like some throwaway sci-fi term that might fit into Gunvolt's setting.
>>262581983 Oh yeah I forgot to add, with him you could use the collar that gives you double jump and one of the lenses that gives either more EP or make it so you don't spend as much when using it so you can have a controlled fall and not get shot by him
>>262582626 I first encountered that term long before tumblr even existed and I've met maybe three trans people in my entire life (none of whom used special terms or even called attention to their status), so I have to assume people freaking out about it are just being dumb.
>>262581983 Easy solution. >get double jump (two or more is good but you only NEED one >tag him at the beginning, jump and activate the zap >immediately double jump, and IN THE AIR, move behind him >he will immediately stop shooting, lose all tags, and do a sheild bash behind him >as soon as he stops shooting, move back to starting position and fall to the ground >get three tags on him quickly and recharge your energy, you should be fully charged just after he ends his animation if you're fast >now you're ready to hurt him when he brings out his bullshit sheild crossbow Just rinse and repeat. I've never come close to being hit once I got the pattern down. Easiest boss IMO
>>262582861 yeah i figured when in the process of switching genders you'd use the new pronouns to better fit in and feel comfortable with your gender. having these" preferred pronouns" just brings unwanted attention to yourself and asks you to be oppressed when one doesnt use them.
>inb4 zonda WANTS that special attention and asked the translators to use the preferred pronouns kinda fits his personality
Its getting pretty sad that we can't talk about a game here because one of thefirst things people will look into is if it has any connection no matter how flimsy with tumblr and it all began when you lost your shit with that dina bullshit , because she was going to ruin the game with her designs
>>262583512 He's a hilarious joke when you realize you can full tag him while he's doing his boss attacks. Like the portal lasers. That attack is just top lel and the whole while you're bringing him down with the field.
>>262583525 >inb4 zonda WANTS that special attention and asked the translators to use the preferred pronouns >kinda fits his personality Well yeah, his sin is lust and his power literally fucks with reality making him whatever he wants to be at the moment, I just wish we could see his abilities in the game and not in a a 8-bit game
>>262583779 Talk to Joule two times in your appartment, that only works once per stage though
>>262583704 dont they say it like 8 times in that one scene. it felt really forced. and even in might gunvolt i preferred they use his name (even calling him a he at on point) but the text just had his name every other line which was fairly annoying
>>262583576 Fuck that "S rank without attack skills" challenge. Fuck it with a cactus. You have to be fucking immaculate with your damage spread on V2 elise to kill them before reeserakshawn, and I almost always end up getting hit trying to retag after I fuck it up once.
What the fuck is this third form of BEEEESman bullshit where he turns into two screen wide and tall spinning teeth and instakills you with no way to escape? The only viable way I found was to luxcaliber him the moment he gets to third form so he dies before he can pull that bullshit.
>>262583934 I love it when he uses razy razah. It doesn't even take timing or skill to avoid you just have to position not-retardedly to avoid being backed into a corner and the whole time you just get free damage. It speeds up my time considerably whenever he uses it.
>>262584394 Hmm, I may try that. I generally avoid vasuki because it's so finnicky and it's hell to micromanage your tags, but with only two targets it could work. The bullets don't try to tag invincible Elise or the snakes, do they?
>>262584536 Same with the moron boss he got it from. When I first played I fought Elise first and it was an eye opener having to deal with two and not realizing to LOOK AWAY from the purple beams of stone death. Then after I finally beat them, I go to that water faggot guy and I remember thinking. Is this a joke?
>>262585049 >When I first played I fought Elise first and it was an eye opener having to deal with two and not realizing to LOOK AWAY from the purple beams of stone death Man I felt like a complete retard whe some anon made me remember that they are supposed to be medusa, I was getting frustrated at uber Elise with that
>>262584785 Elise isn't even the hardest part though. I get a 800 ish combo on the first two bosses, and then rapidash invariably breaks it with his unpredictable spastic ground and air dashes, and that's not even mentioning SUN-SHIYNODA
>>262585439 Not so much forced as it does out of place. Using a term like that that's not exactly known to most of the people playing the game ends up being distracting. above all else.
At the very least, using it to refer to Zonda is "correct" in that Zonda's back-and-forth between dicksaber and scorpion boobs.
>>262585846 I had trouble with that, too. At first I just used an attack skill, since that apparently interrupts his super attack. Then I learned that you can target the mouths that eventually clamp down on you and kill you.
>>262585846 Tag his maw things and keep damaging them until they break, the best way to do this is to be in the air when he starts it so you can tag all of them with the Naga bullet, after that you just dodge his attacks until they break and repeat if he does it again
Why would he play all his games in English when he is in Japan? Don't give me the BS cause they cost less. If he is doing this kind of work he should have enough language to play games in Japanese. I would understand if they are American or Europe made games.
If any of you live/d or traveled to Japan you'd know games drop down in price dramatically. More faster than US price drops.
>>262586867 Just so you know if talking about it here gets unbearable, you can go to /m/ since we have a thread about megaman and can talk about it there or even make a thread specifically to talk about something in this game
>>262586867 everyone is talking about the game... >>262587094 it's your queue to kick his/her ass. usually it's the first time and then they go through their powered up moves then they use it again (except the fire fucker who actually does spam it)
>>262588886 Getting and locking in 3k allows you to synthesize audiolockets that change the song when you reach 1k Kudos to the song in the description. Its in 1st Sumeragi and the main 6 stages, 7 lockets in total. They take some rare materials, and 30k vig to synth though.
>>262589375 They are usign a item that gives you 1000 kudos upon entering the stage, you have a 2% for the normal one and 4% forthe special one and there is a item that multiplies the amount you get and killing four enemies with a combo of volt charge and voltaic chains gives you 6000 kudos
>>262585781 >>262586006 Also, sort of related. Does anyone know how to "properly" dodge totally-not-harpuia's super? The only thing I've found that works is immediately jumping behind him before his sword charges up, but that doesn't feel like you're supposed to do it, and even with my twitchy reflexes I end up getting hit by his sword 1 out of 6 times or so when I jump over him.
>>262566590 I sort of wish the levels were a bit bigger. "Bigger" in that there was more to explore. I'd always find myself climbing walls and such, only to discover that there really wasn't anything to discover.
>>262590920 I like 100% completed zx and zx advent including all the medals and of course mmz1-4. It's been a long while since then and it feels good to finally be back in this groove even if the play style is completely different what with tagging and flashing. But it still has that same feel and of course difficulty and challenges you to actually git gud. I love it.
>>262591084 Literally the opposite of correct. >>262591084 Flashfield pushes the drills up or down. If you're standing on the ground when they hit your flashfield they will never ever hit you. The physics are a bit wierd though, so if you're ascending and flashing sometimes the drills rise with you. TL:DR If you're grounded, flashfield will ALWAYS push them away, if you're trying to jump over them, keep flash off.
Question. If your favorite gun is Orochi, why is that? I prefer Naga since it gives me better control over who I tag so I can get higher scores. I tried using Orochi but I just don't feel the same sense of control that I have with Naga.
>>262591713 8 tags. 8 fucking tags. that makes trips very easy. If you learn to control the satelite's spray you can do some neat stuff, like that video posted above where the guy gets 7k+ kudos >>262591938 welp
>>262592150 You can't get any bonuses if the gun has 1 tag, and only a double if it has 2. Naga is the best gun if you want control. Orochi gives the most tags though, so you can get a double air strike triple.
>>262591594 I never try to tag when I get behind him. I just sit there and stare into the corner. It's too twitchy trying to do a pixel-turn and it's not worth risking my combo over an amount of damage that small. >>262592279 >>262592171 It's hell. I never get below an A any more, and I feel like I'm SO CLOSE every time. Does anybody know the rank tiers for points on that mission?
>>262592489 Even then, the prevasion mechanic makes it entirely accessible for the casual crowd. The only boss you'd have trouble with if you abuse prevasion is the last one, because he has a timer based instant kill move.
Anyone else surprised by how supposedly short this game was but then if you enjoy challenges, the replay value explodes. And its always fun finding out new shit or a new way to do things in the challenges.
>>262581334 who ever said talk to joule twice before a stage, FUCK YOU it didnt work. i did get the placebo "ill come back so do as much damage as possible" effect but it wasnt enough. final boss always owns me
>>262600165 No, I'm referring to the fact that /v/'s trying to claim it as an example of SJW pandering when the "xe" in question is a campy fruitcake villain that you kill and the existence of non-binary genders is portrayed as an example of how far civilization has fallen.
>>262605927 Yes. I forgot it isn't a robot. My bad. I don't think it's that big of a deal when Japan media has touched on bigender people. I think it's really cool and if trans people like it, then more power for them.
I want to track them down and KILL them. They're only 5 people, it shouldn't be too hard, but they're in Japan and with the firearm ban and the fact I can't into moon that would be an impossible mission.
Maybe if I rage really hard, one of them might drop dead.
>>262606380 Yeah, I do have to research more about that. I thought the proper term for that was hermaphrodite.
>>262606461 Not necessarily. A futa has a loose definition of a female with male genitals tacked on. That is, they have secondary female characteristics but their genitals are male or male/female hybrid. This character seems to be able to switch entirely from male to female, complete with secondary characteristics like a switch.
>>262606943 >I thought the proper term for that was hermaphrodite. I've met a person who thought the term "hermaphrodite" was demeaning and insulting. I couldn't convince him that the word has absolutely zero negative connotation to it and he sounds like a big baby.
Whatever. These people are impossible to reason with.
>>262608686 How many missions have you S/S+'ed? I've gotten all of the acheivements for 1st Sumeragi, and I've S ranked half of the main missions, sinner's row, urban run, and the first special mission(voltaic chains in the room with 2 gunners +3-4 drones, with a combo of ~1500 already, I was set for the rest of the level). Granted this is without really trying very hard to score attack any of them except Babel and 1st Sumeragi. If you've S ranked media tower I'd love tips, I'm not finding a lot of good combo potential.
>>262609547 I've done 1st sumeragi, all 6 main missions, sinners row and urban run with an S+ rank.
Media tower has some surprising good combos, tons of triples and even a few electric combos. I think the first set of enemies you come across can be hit for triples, and just before the purple gate, there's a formation of a soldier and 3 floating enemies that you can hit for electric.
Once you've used the first jump pads and are heading left, defeating the missile enemy then taging the next 3 you come across can get you another triple.
The climb is dangerous though, you'll just have to remember where those mechs pop out, but there's still plenty of potential for triple combos there.
>>262610225 Yeah, my main problem was bumping into enemies riding the fucking jump pads. I might just go in with infinity double jump boots, meter boosted out the ass, and just ignore the fucking things. Thanks for the tips mang.
