>tfw I think this was better than GTAIV and GTAV
>mfw too afraid to say it because rockstar fans are awful people
I never wish to experience loss like I did in this game.
Goodbye dear friend.
I don't think there will ever be a boss fight that tops Artorias.
Only real problem I can think of is that the camera controls could be better, but it's an early 3D platformer, so that's to be expected.
It's also better than 2 or 3.
Really? It's only exceptional in that it's a decent console game in a shit gen
The only thing I'd say it really has going for it is atmosphere, everything else isn't that great
There are no 10/10 games without flaws. RDRs flaw is that its weapons were incredibly imbalanced, the High Powered Pistol outclasses all pistols and most rifles.
Nah the Mauser did about the same amount of damage, but had a bigger clip and could fire faster.
But I agree the weapons were imbalanced and you'd usually just stick with one for the entire game.
Its only flaw was that it was so good everyone said "welp there's no way we can top this" and everybody stopped making space sims since it came out in 1999.
I played MM later in life and I can tell you it's not nostalgia. There's something really interesting about it. The atmosphere makes up for any datedness. It's not 10/10 but it's really damn good.
The mauser had a higher spread but yeah it was almost as powerful even though the real mauser jammed like cheap shit and had shitty ammo, but its a good novelty gun to have simply because its a really old machine pistol.
>not adding your sebjective point to an objective 9/10 to make it 10/10
It's like you don't know how favourite games work. Oh wait, you don't, your an undecidedfag. Just pick your favourite game you autist.
>but muh muh 3!
>2 has a weak second half!
Yeah, well, literally no other game has made me actually cry at the ending. So 2 will be a 10/10 for me always.
I don't understand that image that gets posted in every SH thread about the pretentious faggots who claim they're the "END ALL EXPERTS" on what's the best silent hill and why 2 is actually the worst
I wouldn't call any game a 10/10 since that means no fucking flaws what so ever.
But games that damn near felt perfect to me?
RDR definitely, and VtM:B.
They got shit wrong with them but that doesn't stop them from being fucking great.
/v/ consensus, which is objectively wrong.
In all seriousness, it was a fantastic game that was extremely well written. I loved it and so did everyone that I've talked to. Seems like a case of sour grapes from PC gamers.
Pretty much everything I wanted from a superhero game.
>MGSdrones won't let Kojima work on something else
Don't even give me that "press Triangle to win" bullshit.
i remember when i picked this up at release i went in blind
>oh zone of the enders was kind of lame but it had some good ideas
>and the graphical style on the back looks pretty slick
>eh it's a kojima game i'm a fanboi i guess i'll try it
>HOLY FUCKING SHIT I'M SHINJI MIKAMI
>I REMEMBER YOU. IT'S
>~TRAVELING BEYOND THE BOUNDS~
never really had an experience like that since
>implying I don't also love vtmb, grim fandango, new vegas and dark souls
>implying I'm not playing planescape right now
Anyone who has a hint of taste likes these games you faggot, that's what I'm saying. Again, get a unique taste you fucking pleb.
Silent protagonist in place of lazy writing
The fucking ending "Oh I can transport anyone or anything into a different time/space.... but you do much better with guns and a crowbar"
The fan base
Physics are too slippery for a game where you can't see your own feet and has platforming sections.
Kind of "wonky" (for lack of a better term) physics on thrown objects like grenades.
I wish it was longer. there is something soothing about Half Life desert textures and geometry. Like SS2.
There was a anon who was still making maps for it. Was an amazing thread a few couple of months ago.
those faggots who say "BIG BOSS WAS A HALLUCINATION" aren't real MGS fans by any fucking means
Snake is going to live his last few days in peace
Also PW is about an 8, not a 10. Story is too bad to be 10
so you can like games that are considered great but if too many people share the same opinion then they're not allowed to be your favorites? the picture is coming together.
DMC3 had a complete extra character to play as though in the SE. Plus it has better bosses. Bayo is pretty good, but I feel like it really doesn't hold up to DMC3 or NGB as far as character action games go.
This is how you make a sequel worthy of its predecessor, holy shit.
Great sense of adventure, memorable characters, funny writing, delightful music...I never get tired of playing it.
Hey Stampede how about a poem?
I'm a storm torrent across a slate-gray sea
I rush in billowed reflections a fast, fast dark sky over an Edinburgh's meadow's wet
I bolt white high through snowfall cold
I am lightning in the night
I sprint like fire across a match head
And leap across lakes of dream-stuff
Over ancient walls
Past armies fast as fast is
Faster than quicksilver can fall into the sun
I, bounding, prance unstoppable to you
My everything dream
castlevania: symphony of the night
zone of the enders 2
silent hill 2
system shock 2
metal gear solid
devil may cry 1
I just thought RDR was okay. 6/10, I don't believe it's worth all the praise it gets, but I'm not going to insult anybody for that, it's uncalled for. Pic related is my 10/10, and so is Cobi's Adventure. I really liked Hand of the Heavenly Bride for DS too, but I don't know where the cartridge is off to. One of my favorite moments in games is
Protag of HotHB gets turned to stone and becomes someone's lawn ornament while his kids grow up.Sentinels of the Starry Skies was great too, had the same homely feel as the three other games I mentioned, although no monster capturing and training put it down on the list of DQ games for me.
No, but if you're gonna make a 3x3 at least throw 1-2 games that you favor subjectively. It's not about "best games", it's about "favourite games" and if you're gonna pick games I've seen numerous times mentiomed here I'll find your taste boring and call you out on it.
Jeanne plays basically the same as Bayo and Zero barely functions like a normal character. Vergil plays completely differently and works almost as well as Dante. I guess content-wise DMC3 is a bit weaker, but I feel like the quality of content is overall better.
there are more, and i am not listing the more obvious ones, but here is my list by platform i have owned
homeworld 1 and 2
star trek klingon academy
starwars rogue squadron
red dead redemption
assassins creed brotherhood
list is incomplete, but this is what i remember off the top of my head
Gonna get a lot of hate but this is probably in my top 3 10/10.
My brethren of the African American descent.
Games cant be 10\10 but can have soul and good mechanics.
I mean... shit... I get that taste is subjective but if you actually think this is a 10/10 damn nigga
1 is easily a 8, 2 I'd say is an 8.5 but 3 was like a 6
today /v/ wasn't gay as fuck
It's not even the best game in the series faggot
Will we ever have another game like Homeworld. I think the age its over. An age where singleplayer was still strong, and the main campaign was so incredible. A sci fi setting like Homeworld to me its the antithesis of something like mass effect.
eh. the castle is just annoying because of the endless waves of cultists. Also, anyone who thinks Ashley is a burden on the Player or a negative aspect of the game is a whiny dick hole.
once GG is over reddit will leave don't worry
DeSfags at least had the decency to keep quiet about their game and not goaroud screaming "HARDEST GAME EVAARRRRRRRR"
guarantee most Darkfags have never beaten DeS
>We desfags never made any hyperbolic statements like this.
Are you for real ?
Rise of Flight is a 10\10 game.
If i'm a whiny dick hole might as well say she's an annoying character, not a burden but just all around shit character, like willie in temple or doom or that bitch from waterworld
>He didn't liked the most entertainment part of the story
>He didn't liked the best gameplaywise segment of the game
Why did I even take the time to reply?
The cultists were pretty boring characters to me, save for the Garradors.
As for Ashley, I had no problem with her. You were able to hide her at times and she didn't stand in front of you when you're shooting enemies. She would of been better if she could take a weapon, but oh well, still a better companion than some other games.
I like the move away from the whole "Horror survival" stuff. The weighted movement/combat system just really shined in this game for me then it did in the other two. Plus I really like the lore of games themselves.
>Pic related as well as Wipeout HD/Fury.
I actually havent bought any of those games when they were released and I actually feel bad about it, like I contributed to the downfall of the studios behind them.
RDR would be a perfect game, if it wasn't hindered by shit consoles. I got this when it first came out on a 360 and it seemed playable.
Fast forward to this year and I play it on a PS3 and holy shit the framerate is bad as fuck. Find out it was barely better on the 360.
Game deserved a PC release more than any of the grand shit games.
>Motion blur EVERYWHERE anytime you do anything to cover the shit framerate
>Graphics reach a new low on top of shit framerate
>Sound effects are weak as fuck
Let's be honest, it isn't a 10/10. Great RPG, but not a 10/10.
10/10 games don't exist but this is as close as it gets.
Also, Shadow of the Colossus.
just strait epic lelz from the get go! and not to mention the LEWT. claptrap 10/10 comic relief
>o hai mark
Wait, we are talking about the same The Room, right?
This shit right here.
Best FF game hands down and is my 10
>careful having an opinion that's not been vetted by strangers
Way too many people put way too much stock into fitting in on 4chan. You guys are strangling yourselves with bullshit like this.
Be better than that.
>The Room was the best out of the originals.
And it was still a shitty game. Good ideas don't make up for the pisspoor atmosphere, story, enemy design minus one or twobroken combat, inventory, level design, lighting, backtracking, shittier companion mechanics than a game two entries back in the same series and more.
FEZ isn't a bad game, but it sure as hell isn't a perfect game.
>tfw xbot faggots will never experience anything so great, ever.
>Anything to do with the actual gameplay
the puzzles in 3 weren't that great either. most were overly obtuse in 3 on hard to the point where you just had to start making guess to get combinations e.g. deciphering the poem where heather gets mangled and the second part of the shakespeare puzzle.
1 had the best puzzles by far.
>that piano puzzle.
Bastante interesante ver un enfoque así de la Revolución Mexicana. No creo que siquiera yo recuerde haber visto tantas películas sobre eso, así que ver eso aparecer en un videojuego mainstream fue una agradable sorpresa.
"THEIR JUDGEMENTS ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AS FACTUAL OPINIONS"
how the fuck does anyone take this fucking thing seriously, holy shit
this just seems like a bunch of hipsters determined to complain about 2
>umatched by it's successors
>MUH DEMON CULT
fucking hell, silent hill has such an awful fanbase
WELCOME TO SPACE STATION 13
>Their judgments are to be considered as factual opinions
The story, atmosphere, level design, writing and weapon selection make this shit 10/10.
Sequel was 7/10, remake was Let's-never-speak-of-this-again/10.
>Their judgements are to be considered as factual opinions
>mfw literally every point is subjective
Easily game of the year for me. It's like someone came and fixed rastan and ghosts 'n goblins
Why bother posting an image?
I can't even remember the last time I thought a game was 10/10. I'm not even saying that in a cynical sense, it's more like every time I really get into a game it just goes to shit half way through.
>subjective views on taste are now factual because a bunch of idiots on a forum said so
friendly reminder that you and people like you are the cancer of sh threads because they take that specific bait every single time
it's literally always the same guy posting and he won't go away because of you
I find it odd, being a racing sim enthusiast where I can buy Game Stock Car Extreme, or rFactor 2 for around 30 bucks.
Both games are actively updated by the devs with free content being added regularly.
This buying an expensive shell and then charging more for additional content business model just seems like all it does is push more people away from an already small consumer base.
> TFW I will never experience this game as it was meant to be because it's a console game that runs on proprietary servers that will be shut down before I ever get a PS3
There's nothing else like it out there.
nah, SH threads are already kind of a cancer. SH fans for the most part are really fucking pretentious.
I goddamn love Silent Hill but I never go into silent hill threads because it's usually people circlejerking about 3 because 2 is the one everyone likes and they don't want to seem mainstream
Pikmen is so satisfying
I just want to eat them all up
all the core Nintendoi games are always just so great and they always reel me into buying their consoles even though that's all they got
This thread's been pretty alright so far.
Let's step it the fuck up.
2lazy to download an image, but i thought jak 3 was a 10/10
Might just be the nostalgia factor here, but i've played crash 1-3, jak 1-3, nathan drake 1 and 2 and the last of us, and i say jak 3 was the best of all of those
>Literally the perfect mech game
>ADHD twitch action to appease the dudebro shitters
>Never hits mainstream because entire team marketing budget spent on MGShit
>Never get a sequel to this ps2 magnum opus
Insert Kojima over feelsguy spot in pic for mfw
Max Payne 1-2
Shadow Of The Colossus
System Shock 2
Vice City can suck a dick, this is the best GTA game.
But for Rockstar games, I'd also include Bully and obviously RDR as 10/10s
There are many niggas in this thread, and some of them may be my nigga, but you. You out of the entire thread are my right-hand nigga. Hell, I might even be your right hand nigga. But know this nigga: You are the chieftest of niggas.
Also this is another one of my 10/10
kojima feels the same way you do. he has said SEVERAL times that he would rather continue zone of the enders over metal gear. konami wont let him
yfw you realize that the man whose head your holding a gun too actually wants what you want more than you do
>fantastically toyish art style
>fucking awesome soundtrack
>amazing level design
>one of the best level editors i've seen on a console game
>stephen fry's sexy voiceovers
This game had charm oozing out the disk tray.
Probably the most fun I've had with a 7th gen game.
>knows he's being used by the corrupt government agents
>complains while doing their dirty work
>isn't surprised at all when they come for his family
Houser then repeated the same thing with Michael in GTA5. He has a thing for corrupt authority figures.
You're an idiot if you think anything is perfect, let alone a video game.
If you think anything is a 10/10 you're officially announcing that your opinion is worthless.
Can't think of any flaws.
These are my 14. Tried to do chronogical-ish order.
Duke Nukem 3D
Metal Gear Solid
Final Fantasy VIII
System Shock 2
Final Fantasy X
Resident Evil 4
Ninja Gaiden Black
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Wipeout HD: Fury
Decks 5 and 6 are great. So is the Rickenbacker, the most challenging part of the late game. "The Many" part is shit but it's short, as is the dumb shit pointless epilogue level.
For me, 10/10 means a perfect game.
Perfection to me means that the whole experience was enjoyable.
Bioshock's last couple of hours were barely enjoyable, and SS2's last four or so hours were numbing.
And sure, both of those games are on my top 10 list, but damn, seriously. The ending is usually the part that sticks with me the most, and if that's shit, than it usually drags the whole game down a notch with it.
Now that I think about it, Hotline Miami shouldn't be on my top 10 either.
One of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. s Had to be a 10/10
I stand completely behind Shadow of Chernobyl being 10/10
Haven't played CoP
Huge open word, rewards exploration with surprises, items and a whole game within a game, fantastic soundtrack, lovable characters, pleasing and colorful art style, charming monsters, very long and full of surprises and wonder for your first playthrough, rewarding to invest in different skills and new weapons for your second playthrough, tons of boss fights, a grand final boss, a very satisfying ending, and a challenging postgame secret boss. I only wish I could wipe my mind of this game so I could play it for the first time and discover it's secrets all over again.
I was just thinking the same thing, OP. Actually replaying it for the third time right this very minute.
Ironically it's really one of the only western (as in the origin of its creation, not the genre) non-dungeon crawler I've ever liked before. I've tried thousands of games but never really cared about any of them, I'm more into RPG games.
Something about this game is just magical, though. The atmosphere, the gunplay, the writing, it's all fucking flawless. Rockstar will never outdo this masterpiece. I immediately played Red Dead Revolver directly after beating it for the first time and was absolutely blown away by that game too, though it could use a good polishing and some gameplay mechanic refining.
I didn't even start watching Western films till earlier this year, either. Now that I've seen a good 30-40 of them, I appreciate these games even more now having seen their sources of inspiration.
if you're into cowboy shit in general, I recommend trying out an arena shooter called Fistful of Frags. It just got an official release on Steam recently and they're pumping out tons of updates. Shit's free, too.
Which is why I said if you think something is perfect your opinion is worthless.
Nothing is without flaw. To ignore flaws is to admit ignorance. And if you adhere to ignorance your opinion on any subject is worthless.
If you don't understand this you're not old enough to be here.
Not to mention the stealth is laughable. You can do stealth side quests successfully and never raise the stat one point. I will consider taking it off the list, but it's not likely.
>Bioshock told the same story as SS2 but monumentally better
>Sound design was almost immaculate
>Art style was great
>Difficulty was fucked in the head, but I seem to be one of the few people who can get past gameplay faults to experience one of the best stories told in video games in the last decade
But I agree with you that Half-Life 2 was mediocre. That game makes a damn good job of making you feel like you're in a video game and not a well-realized world. All of that dumb "GORDON FREEMAN YOU'RE MY HERO" shit really tore me out of the experience.
And the fact that you can survive a fucking carpet bombing before you take a significant amount of damage on the default difficulty.
It wanted to tell a modern story with old school mechanics, and they didn't merge well.
Had shitty music and terrible multiplayer framerate
>Star Wars Racer
Not even once
>Listing the Xbox version
>Listing an above average game with shit combat
>Not listing the Sega CD version
The SNES version is ass
Good game. Replayable as fuck. Great OSt.
>opinion is worthless.
You realize that this whole thread is about opinions. The guy is literally asking us what is 10/10.
>Nothing is without flaw. To ignore flaws is to admit ignorance. And if you adhere to ignorance your opinion on any subject is worthless.
Flaws can be subjective too. Some people do not like RNGs but some consider a game of chance not to be a flaw but a pro. Some people do not like anime art styles, but some people consider it a reason to play the game.
This game and Quake 1.
Honorable mentions that are close enough:
Rocket Knight Adventures
Toejam and Earl
Should I pick up the HD version for the PS3? I heard it has problems
Came here to post this. Freespace 1 and 2 are 9/10's for me for space games.
I fucking love Severance.
Also my nigger. If you haven't yet, replay Shadow of Chernobyl with Autumn Aurora 2. Captures the atmosphere fucking perfectly and improves ballistics and shit.
I've been meaning to play this but haven't got to it yet.
Anyways, this is far from a 10/10 due to sometimes shit AI and some bugs, but I think Rome 1 is one of my favorites of all time.
I came here to laugh at all your terrible tastes but I'm finding patricians in here.
you cant disagree that up until cataclysm, this wasnt the greatest game of all time
Had to learn the hard way, not to shake the baby!
>tfw lawyer will never be given more power in the station in order to protect the people from shitcurity
>posting a blizzard game in this thread
>it not being diablo 2 or warcraft 3
It is a 10/10 though. Anon. It's the best Rockstar game if not the best game of all time.
People who jated it are boring saps who'd rather dress up in a gimp suit and chase trains around with jetpacks
Lawyer is all about seizing power and communicating
No, really, I've led like five rebellions outside of rev rounds, managed to convince sec not to kill revs multiple times, and negotiated peace with the syndies so they let us all camp out on mining, apart from roughly half the heads and security who stayed behind and got shot to pieces.
Not much of a game, but for what it was trying to do, def a 10/10
>tfw finally doing Rucks and Zulf's dreams with 10 idols on
I want fucking more. Fuck transistor
Videos are for chumps. If you want to learn something then you do it.
With the wiki open if it's prone to going wrong, of course.
Lawyer in particular requires little more than charisma, a decent typing speed and a basic understanding of space law.
This game is one of the best and also one of the most autistic strategy games of all time
FUCK YES DOMINIONS
I FUCKING LOVE DOMINIONS
Nothing. Nothing killed it.
>Yeah was working on researching towards utterdark actually.
>So I'm pretty sure the devourer just imploded.
>1v600 underwater fight, interesting note, ACID RAIN DOES NOT WORK UNDERWATER HOLY SHIT.
>Though that didnt seem to mean much since it was still regenerating 1k health every round.
>After about 50 rounds it just disappeared seemingly randomly. Hall of fame says it has -5733 health and is dead.
>It was at full health when it happened, there was only one 3 death caster in the battle at the time and he was passed out, and then 10ish holy 1 priests.
>what the fuck just happened.
The save zulf ending has to be one of my most cathartic moments in gaming.
And for those too stupid to understand
Someone summoned a superpowerful hard to control monster in a strategy game. Thing got super buffed because he made it his prophet and he was no longer able to control it. Tried constantly to control it as it slowly ate its way to utterly gamebreaking proportions before it got too big for the game and ate itself.
4 is better than 3 IMO.
It's not much like homm really. It's more like a classical 4x and instead of directly controlling your armies they're NPC controlled in realtimeish battles.
"general consensus" can suck my dick.
- story is great for a game
- the way it's told is great
- all those little moments of discovering dialogue like ellie's joke times or enemy convos are nice
- combat is intense
- feels amazing sneaking through a building full of bad guys on grounded
- needing to craft everything and having almost no ammo works so well
- Friendly AI will legitimately save your ass so much and NOT always get itself killed/captured.
-Enemy AI will flank you, aggressively charge if they realize you are vulnerable, use teamwork.
- environments are amazing
- music is top notch
- I'm addicted to the multiplayer
- game is good length and only $50. It's remastered version so it also comes with free DLC which adds a few more hours and several MP maps.
10/10 =/= perfect in my book. It means either best example of what a game in its genre should be or it's so damn good, you don't care about the flaws. Seriously, the only flaws I ever hear people talking about in this game can apply to literally every other game in existence / just nitpicking.
At least you're a man with good taste.
My first time through point Lemaign (The level with the carbine) I went through the whole convener belt without falling off, I didn't even know it it until the narrator asked:
"and you know how many times the kid fell off that convener belt"
At which point I realized OH SHIT I DID IT, and stared on awestruck as he continued
"not even once"
