I never once got the hint that he was stumbling, everyone seemed to fucking love and circle around him. When they called him leader he felt like a leader because he was just perfect.

Not that guy, haven't beat 4 yet but beat 3. But I think the reason that he comes off as so perfect all the time is because of 2 reasons.

1) He has the potential to be perfect while saving the world, banging 50 chicks, and flawlessly navigating the social connections he creates. This is shared with the protag from 3. They both technically have no personality, but do some pretty fucking impressive stuff which gives them both a sense of awesomeness.

2) Something that 4tag has over 3tag is that, while 3tag is obviously special as discovered when you play the game, 4tag is the only person (so far as I am in the game) who didn't actually have any flaws that they had to face to achieve their persona. In a game about about facing your flaws, being the only character who doesn't have to do this gives a sense that he's just better than normal people.

I was talking about the Investigation Team and how you HAVE to do their social links if you want to evolve their personas, which ironically are completely independent of the story which means they can happen or you never see it because you never got to max their personas. In 3 the team had their personas evolve to another form based on how the plot progressed and that they felt a greater motivation after the last shadow gets destroyed.
