PC version is perfectly stable, the issue with it is that there are minigames for each class, and some of them are practically fucking broken (I'm thinking specifically of the shop class one here, the rest are okay). Still beatable, but you literally have to memorize the input sequence, it is not fun. All classes are optional, so it's not like it impedes your progress or even constitutes that big of a game, but I'm not going to lie to you: it's annoying.

worth buying in a fucking heartbeat though, if you see it on sale do yourself a favor.

Because if that's the case, Crysis. Used to play nothing but Crysis multiplayer and ended up become that guy that was disturbingly good at the game. Used to do this trick to piss people off where I'd activate max speed and then drop my pistol while sprinting at them to kill them with the impact. You wouldn't actually get credited with the kill but it was always worth it.

Morrowind. /v/ liked Morrowind once, back in the days when Oblivion was new and hated, but now that Skyrim is the new and hated thing the usual incredibly intelligent analyses such as "aged like milk" and "miss miss miss miss miss". For me, it's the best open world game ever made, the only other game to immerse me so much in the game world and game systems is Deus Ex.

Omikron: The Nomad Soul

The first 1/3 of the game is GOAT, better than any single player game I've played, and back in 1999 a game with free roam and a full city was amazing. This was before GTA III and other 3D free roam shit and I remember just walking around, drinking in bars, going to strip clubs instead of continuing the story. The story takes a nosedive in the middle and the ending is rushed but who gives a shit?

I played it again recently (it's on Steam and GOG with some compatibility patches apparently) and it kind of holds up. The shooting and fighting are both equally terrible though.

Back in 1999 I'd easily give it 11/10, today it's 8/10.

The Darkness 2
Despite the rest of the enemies after the third mission just being The Brotherhood, and the linear path it had, it's one of my favourite games, the quad wielding was awesome, along with the story, loved the characters, and the ending was awesome unless you stayed with Jenny.
Too bad 2K will never, ever make a third darkness game, ever.

R* hasn't forgotten about Bully, they know it has a cult following but they care more about shit like GTA and Red Dead, I think Bully will get a sequal eventually, we just needed a new GTA and Red Dead first. I have beaten Bully 4 times, it is one of the only games I can actually finish more than once and still enjoy the fuck out of it.

Brigandine Legend of Forsena.
Bad ass strategy game with 6 different factions with different goals, a different style of leadership from the leader and a unique set of characters to each faction that intertwined with the other factions or even one another.
You could defeat the CO or take out their monsters and force a retreat from them.
Japan got a remake with some new stuff and cut out the shit 3d model stuff for quicker paced action, sadly there was never an English version.
Remake or translation I would take either, hell ive even attempted to play it in jap but you miss out on so much story and don't know what the fuck is going on.

I love this game. It has flaws but every time I play another AAA game I always think.
If this was Dishonored this building would have at least 4 different entry points. This shitty puzzle wouldn't even exist. This cutscene shouldn't have been mandatory. This shouldn't have been a forced stealth segment. This segment is simply padding and should be taken out for better pacing. I shouldn't have lost control of my character here. This kill and knockout animation should be faster. This character shouldn't vibrate uncontrollably when I don't reach out and grab his hand.

Interesting NES title in that it doesn't stick to one genre. Some stages are vertical shooters, some are horizontal shooters, some are sidescrolling platformers, and most boss fights are first person shooters where you need to talk with your crew to find out the bosses weak point.

Few years ago it was Sid Meyer's Pirates! The 3D version, game is fucking amazing! It's old as shit now but everything about the game, even the graphics, are so damn stylized and awesome that it's just timeless. It has weird issues with HD resolutions, though... It's the perfect open world. You can be a pirate, a pirate hunter, an honest businessman, you can avenge your family, or just dick around. You actively grow old and will eventually have to retire so every single action you do has weight and value to it.

Nowadays it's Crusader Kings 2. Holy fucking shit.

I now actively avoid playing it if I don't have any time to burn. When I start hours fly by and I just can't bring myself to stop it's that fucking good.

People claim it's a grand strategy game. They're wrong. It's as close to a pen and paper RPG as you can get. Pick your character (more fun being that random duke history forgot about), and conspire your way to the crown. Than be crushed by the HRE. Or surrender outright, have your country annexed to it... and take it the fuck over with intrigue and political back stabbings.

Close second is Dwarf Fortress. It's free and it's awesome. Play it.

Honestly Dark Souls for the bleak and oppressive atmosphere with a constant looming feeling of melancholy and dread from both the environment and the characters themselves. The boss fights were exciting and always had a sense of weight to them that made me determined to fuck up every last one of them, at least up until you beat O&S and then the rest of the game is piss easy.
