Which allowed me to notice the interesting practice of aggroing a merc-aligned as an entry challenge for some guilds. Also, trap Sram was fun to play. You don't have to pay for fucking anything anymore for the most part, but it's changed into a 'kill this thing in one hit before it can touch you' kind of game, and the community is fucking abysmal, per usual.

It's still plenty alright, and a HELL of a lot easier to get into (especially on new characters, good fucking lord) than before. Rebirths are now free and weekly (daily up to level 1000), bank and shop bags and inventory bags are all free access, all that kinda stuff. But it's still a Nexon game.

They have this thing called Talents that you can choose on rebirth. It just gives you a slight variance in stat gains per levelup (a light bonus, and of course you lose all levelup gains ON rebirth so they don't add anything for the most part). The main thing about Talents is that they give you 2x skill training XP, so each thing you do counts for double the training requirements. Other than that, no, there's no class system.

Well, take Onyxia and apply an even longer attunement, for every endgame instance. Not hard to get into, just tedious.

The actual content is hard only because the odds of you finding a group of people who actually did the damned things and know what they are doing and have decent stuff is slim when there are only about 200k total players in the game.

Well, it was pretty popular at the time, but old enough that only a few here would have played it at launch:

IMO still the only MMO to get player housing right the first try.
Could pay for a variety of small, instanced apartments with ingame money. However iirc there were a few guild halls and what-not that you had to buy with reputation points gained from raiding or something. Lot of thought went into it as a game feature, which I've yet to see again.

What I do remember is that it was in beta around spring and summer 2005, it had an asian setting and that they managed to fuck up the XP at some point which made many people including myself leave.

It's free anyway, so I'd recommend getting in here, making a few quests, destroying everything on the ship around the rollcall, and other such simple pleasures. When you want to quit, just look into what's on the korean servers way ahead of international ones that are going to take months to arrive. This, plus the gring post second environnment should get you off the hook..

I guarantee no one here has ever even heard of this thing. Still exists to this day, but has been taken over by, like, 20 fat insufferable autists clinging to their dying servers. The game is toxic as fuck now.
Can make your graphics, levels, scripts, npcs, and have them uploaded to the server for everyone to use. Made a good roleplaying platform. The client was made to be "Zelda online" and had a pretty neat sparring mechanic where you could fight other players all ALTTP slashy slash.

Now it's fuck all impossible to make an account on for the legit PC version. They made a shit-stain iOS version that's been moderately successful for some reason, although you can't even do anything in it.

Man I forget how many shitty free MMOs were out there back in the day. After I discovered runescape, and the MMO genre as a whole, I went on an escapade to find a good free one but they always seemed to have some hang ups.

Ultimately I found WoW and that ended up being my go to MMO fix for many years. On and off of course. I played MoP, did some end game and then quit again. That was a good year ago and I still don't really have any desire to go back.

If anything it'd just be for pvp. A nice level 19 rogue twink is what I want.
