Can anyone give me tips against Olimar with someone that isn't Marth?
Everyone says Olimar is one of the worst characters in the game, but I have trouble doing anything when I don't pick Marth, and counterpicking every time my friend chooses him feels really gay.
I use Mario and Diddy in addition to Marth, and it feels a lot tougher to do anything as Diddy or Mario. both of their projectiles are absorbed by pikmin thrown, and if I approach, I get grabbed. The only tool of Marth's that even helps me get in is down tilt, and that can even be risky if he has purple pikmin.
Go into Smash recently, so learning mostly Marth, Sheik and Captain Falcon as I heard they are to start with and learn fundamentals. Playing mostly Project M and little bit of Melee.
My friends don't use olimar so im sorry i can't help

Also try to L cancel neutral air with marth a lot

I'm a PMFaggot and I don't think it's an outright better but Smash4 dropping the characters it did + the characters PM are adding are going to make it closer than a mod should.
I'm glad the janitors/mods are finally deleting/banning that one fucking shitposter that posts in every single thread.
I know most techniques at mid level play, wavedashing(though I'm not the best at making use of it), l-cancelling, SHFFL fair and nair as Marth, but with Olimar, it just feels like he can use his side b all day for free. Not only that, but he has a really good grab, and can spike incredibly easily, and he has a tether which are really good at the moment.
It's really frustrating to fight against.
Method 1: Install a virtual homebrew channel.
Method 2: Install a virtual SD card and boot the brawl ISO and go the hackless method.
Method 3: Patch a brawl ISO to have Project M.
If I were Sakurai, I would feel very embarrassed. And all the modders are doing is taking feedback from people, something that Sakurai doesn't do because he apparently doesn't care what anyone else has to say, going as far as to ignore constructive criticism from people who know his game more than he ever did.
People think I'm joking when I say that Sakurai needs to go. Smash will only be mediocre or slightly alright with him around, but will never reach truly show any amazing potential. He holds it back way too much, and for completely insane reasons.
I like Kerfuffle's more, the only character I'll miss is Ice Climbers and none of the new Project M characters interest me except that Roy is back and Pichu Bros if real would be pretty neat to have if they did a good Pikachu/Ice Climbers style hybrid
Melee's still the best core gameplay though
PK Fire is really bullshit, if it hits you at all, shield or not, you can usually get mega big huge damage for free.
That and PK Flash being as fast and as long range as it is are my only problems with him. At least he doesn't have a bullshit tether, giving his godlike recovery.
I think Sakurai is fine, the issue is HAL hasn't worked on the games since Melee

If you have a controller plugged in port 2, but not in port 1, and you go to "training mode," play training mode for a couple seconds, exit training mode, and go to versus mode, you will be able to play as two characters at once.

I dislike adding anime characters to Smash Bros with no relation to video games. I wish they'd add notch eared pichu and shiny pichu instead. At least they appear in a video game. I think Pichu bros should be the alternative not the actual video game characters. Also, I like plusle and minun.

How is wavedash, waveland and waveshining shitty terms? Wavedashing comes from the wavelike pattern of your character(going up and down while moving side to side), wavelanding is performing a wavedash just as you land, which makes sense, and waveshining is simply adding a shine to the wavedash.

Just go to IIRC and play friendlies. Most people that aren't good want to only play friendlies. Once you find couple of guys at your level add them as friends and keep playing against them if you don't want to fight better players.
I fucking loved Pichu. Melee was pretty much all I played for so many years, that I got attached to every character, stage, piece of music, and piece of content in it.
But Project M isn't Melee. Pichu doesn't really have much to offer anymore. Sonic is the fastest, and Jigglypuff is the lightest. But that's why I still have my Melee disc.
I really do suck complete ass at Smash. Hell, I rarely even use shields or dodge roll until every once in a while when I'll consciously think "Huh, maybe I should" and then I'll start over-using them for the next couple of rounds until I forget again.
I'll practice one day.
I'm modding Project M to make it more pub friendly but still retaining all the new content and movesets.

Use that website and play ranked games. After 5 ranked games it give you a score. Then just play with people with a score around yours or slightly higher. Best way to get better imo.

I wish I could play netplay. My checksum comes out wrong after I build my PM iso no matter what I do. I tried dumping my own Brawl iso to my HD, downloading a Brawl Iso off a torrent and another of a direct download and nothing fucking works.
A couple of zelda mains, including me to some extent, tried working with the PM:BR on zelda's nayru and the entire collaboration went to shit.
The person responsible for the previous builds more or less got kicked to the curb.
The person leading the new 3.5 zelda build is confirmed to be a autist who is also the one responsible for giving ganon some very flight friendly buffs. After talking to some PMBR members and what they could gather, this guy has no fucking clue how to handle zelda and she is going to be absolute garbage

There are two main changes to the gameplay:
- Upwards gravity is slightly reduced. This way most characters jump a little higher and are more fun to move around overall. Downward gravity is not affected. Characters still fall considerably fast and fastfall speeds are unaffected.
- No ledge invincibility. Actually there's a very limited time frame that allows edgehogging, but after that the character is vulnerable. Forces players to return to the stage asap and encourages edgeguarding.
The other changes are character-specific. I can give you more info on some characters if you want.
The mod is pretty much done right now, but I'm still open to suggestions, especially regarding characters I don't play that much.
Since PM was aimed at tournament play, the purpose of this mod was to make most characters playable by average players and long-time players who never got into tournament techniques and frame data. In-depth combo knowledge is not required and almost all characters are fun to play right out of the bow. My aim, right now, is to eliminate that "almost".
If the purpose of this mod is to help average players do advanced techniques as you say, then why is Luigi's cyclone recovery still prohibitively difficult to pull off effectively?

As someone that isn't particularly good at smash, sounds good. I assume P:M was balanced with competitive play in mind so when playing P:M with friends there seem to still be some moves/characters that are still a bit OP and/or are too easy to cheese with.

And if you're looking to get suggestions for that "almost" I would just suggest releasing it and addressing that in later updates since you'll be able to get a wide range of feedback to more effectively make changes and hopefully be less prone to be making changes that are baised due to a lack of this feedback.

I don't plan on helping average players to learn or pull off advanced techniques. They can do that practicing in melee or PM already.
I'm just making a mod eliminating the need to know and perform those techniques to properly play those characters.
I forgot to mention, about a month ago an anon asked me to restore ToonLink's N-Air to brawl's animation. I managed to do it and damage was also slightly boosted. If you're here, you might be interested to try it out.
It just seems wrong to ignore the already-present pichu-akin duo when they're so similar. I also prefer them as a better fit for this duo but I'm sure there's plenty of rabid melee autism that will just keep screaming for Pichu... and how right I am.
I think a lot of tourneyfags would find the idea of more limited edgehogging bad and protest it since it only serves to prolong a match, giving the offending player more chances to recover, right? I'm not stating this as fact, just trying to get into the mindset of how competitive smash is looked at.
Pichu is a known character that's actually been in the series.
Plusle+Minun are no-name characters that, while they're a duo, they're also a no-name fucking character that literally nobody cares about and if anyone were to add another pokemon in smash someone's head would be on a fucking pike. Pichu is the only pokemon that can be added without severe backlash.

If you can tether, you can UpB, and this time you'll be able to grab the ledge, because your UpB will almost certainly bounce your opponent off the ledge.
Oh, that was someone else's mod. PM is getting tons of lag added when you edgehog a tether character. Forced jump that's about a second long, followed by a half second of landing lag. Oh, but don't worry, you still have the option of moving backward while jumping to land back on the ledge. You know, because that's safe. God forbid the person just stay on the ledge.

I agree with the spirit of your decision, I'd much rather have more on stage play than someone getting gimped by an edgehog but I think to some degree it may be necessary just to keep the pace of the match fast and interesting.
If not that, then some alternative because while I think edgehogging works well enough, we can certainly do better.

Am I the only one that thinks it should be the other way around? I mean, Ness has one of the best projectiles in the game, four different ways to edgeguard without even leaving the stage, a spike and two kill aerials, two different kill throws and a throw that sets up a pretty major combo, and a slew of disjointed multi-hit attacks on top of a side smash with a tipper.
The only thing Lucas really has on him in my opinion is a tether, but Ness and Lucas already have some long range recovery (even if PKT2 is fox-tier in terms of predictability), and Ness makes up for it by having the fastest grab in the game and an easier time getting it off from hit confirm.
Any opinions on this?

Lucas has way better arial options in general, not to mention simply stronger arials. Look at PinkFresh when he plays Lucas. It's fucking ridiculous. And that usmash is strong as shit. Couple that with the fact that the fucker doesn't die ever and you got a really good character.
I'd love it if Ness got a decent buff too though.
Honestly, I don't think tournament results are completely valid at this stage in the game's development. There's basically a whole new tier list every other week, and characters like Diddy (which used to be considered low tier) suddenly get a huge showing out of nowhere whereas characters like Mewtwo (which people think need a nerf) barely have anyone playing him.
People are still discovering new things. A single player or even a couple of players doing well with a character means nothing unless that character is winning unanimously and consistently, which no one seems to be doing.
If kirby walling people off the map wasn't do much fun, I'd pick ivy in a heartbeat.

I use a USB loader with a NTSC iso (I have a pal wii). The mod also works in dolphin. You just need to modify the virtual sd card accordingly.
Also, I just tested all tethers and "special" tethers and they all work correctly.

People want edge hogging because the edge isn't the only place to land. Brawl made it so if you passed the edge you automatically grabbed it but before that it was more like a safety bonus for timing your recovery right. You don't have to go to the ledge you could just land on the stage, the ledge is just extra. Also recoveries in general were super buffed in Brawl it used to be a bigger risk to fight someone off the side and it was harder to make it all the way back in melee. The PM recoveries just retain their Brawl elements.

I don't play Ganondorf that much. I should ask a friend of mine what animation he likes. He's the ganon player of our bunch.
Last night I decided to go on a magical journey. First, I played Smash Bros. Melee. The game still holds up great-- the graphics are very bright and cartoony, and the gameplay obviously set the standard for what Smash players expect from the series. Then I played Project M-- it's like Melee, but with newer graphics and more content. It plays just as good as Melee and is all around quite wonderful. Feels like it's a direct sequel to Melee.
And then, I played Brawl. Holy shit does that game feel terrible. It feels like the characters are all trapped in a giant pool of jello. Everything about Brawl feels slow and floaty-- nothing has any weight, and at the same time everything moves slowly. It feels like the characters are on the moon when they jump It's just plain bad, there is no way around it. I can't believe Nintendo would actually release the game in this state. I have never even played Smash at a tournament or anything like that, but I couldn't stand to play Brawl for more than a few minutes.

I spent a good chunk of last night converting the song "Vampire Killer" from Castlevania into Bitstream format. I even got it to loop perfectly.
I've also got the Judgment version of Bloody Tears in the song cue for Dracula's Castle. It feels so much more like a proper Castlevania stage with the right songs.
Now I wish they'd add Simon Belmont into the game. He could borrow moves from both Shiek and Zero Suit Samus.

No, there're the exact same as they were in Brawl.

Another thing to consider: Konami greenlighted a fan remake of the first Metal Gear. They even got as far as making a teaser trailer with David Hayter.

I can understand cutting Knuckles because not many people really wanted another Sonic character and there was kind of potential legal issues anyway, but Sami? Bullshit. Everyone fucking loved that idea. She was probably the most well received of all the leaked characters, and that's over Isaac.
My Luigi is total shit right now but he's fun, focusing more on my mains for now.
My "for fun" characters are just the entire rosters, I like playing as everyone except ICs and Zelda (in Melee at least)

Enjoy! Neither one was very hard. If you git gud with Audacity (and a little creativity) and know how to use Brawl Song Manager, it's a snap.
He still has trouble with spacies and good pressure. His neutral game is godlike now though. The only characters who give him any real trouble are Fox/Falco and even than its more of a coin flip than anything.
