Clone characters don't take a spot from anybody, so why the hate? They are there for fluff. If Dark Pit is in the game, it doesn't mean he's taking K. Rool's spot. Calm the fuck down.
Because that's just shitty laziness.
Why does Dark. Pit have to be a clone? Is there nothing else he can represent from Kid Icarus that isn't represented by Pit and Palu? He could use different weapons, or even summon a boss or 2.
But no, Sakurai's going to tact on the same move set that Pit his on him with minor changes out of laziness.
This rules applies to just about every "clone" in Smash Bros. Fuck, even Pichu didn't have to be a clone, or Dr. Mario, or even Toon Link. Hell I can think of some creative shit for both of them just by thinking about them.
But no, because Sakurai and his shitty decision making.
We've already seen what Sakurai can do and what he's done in previous games and even in this new one (fucking Lucina) Just watch, he'll be like Ganondorf, using Pit's moves with dark glowy sparkles to make them look "different". His Final Smash might end up being something different, but that's as high as my hopes will go.
>Dark pit in the game, a clone so it's okay since hardly any resources were used in his development
>Lucas gone in spite of already being created and easy to port over or adjust his moveset even more to differentiate him from Ness
Muh main ;_;
Lucas had a significantly different moveset than Ness in Brawl and it isn't a simple 1:1 port you know. They are 2 totally different games with 2 totally different physics engines.
Well My Mother Is Nintendo And I Have To Ask Why Are You Angry So You Wouldnt Be For The Inclusion For Like 3 Other KIU Characters Im Gonna Tell This To My Mother And Maybe She Will Add Blue Pit :) Get Angry :)
Because Kid Fucking Icarus scarcely deserved 2 reps, much less three. Instead we get three KI reps, with edgy pallette swap, the most smash run enemies of any series, a disproportionate of items from uprising, the UI modeled after Uprising, probably a trophy of every single fucking character and item from uprising, and probably a shit ton more.
Fuck Sakurai. They should have used that small amount of time to figure out a way to not axe Ice Climbers.
I cant like dark pit when its literally just pit that dyed his hair black and is giving the "nothing personell kid" look
especially since i know by looking at him that to be an edgemaster it IS personal
at this point id rather have sephiroth in the game
>KC Munchkin clone of Pacman
I'll buy twenty.
He appears to have his weapon from the game in his art. WHAT IF HE'S NOT A CLONE?
My understanding is that clones are basically padding to make it look like there is 'content' in the roster. Quantity over quality.
In a sense, preventing other characters who would require more effort to put in since it would just be easier to add fluff into the roster to save money. This is just my understanding of the "wasted slot/spot" idea.
It's a paranoid thought though since there is no connection between "x made it and thus y won't", but I can sort of see where people are coming from.
>all these clones
Sakurai must have been so sick of people saying Smash isn't a fighting game that he deliberately modeled his roster on SNK.
This. People are just assuming he's going to be a straight up clone, but either didn't play Uprising, or have their head stuck up their ass. (most likely both)
KI:U has so much weapon variety, I'm sure Pit's B moves and likely even some A moves will be different. He will be slower and weightier, as well I'm sure. They'll probably share the same Final Smash though.
Dark Meta Knight, Daisy, Black Shadow and Impa would hadly have their own moveset, this is why they work as clones, and any of thos ar far more interesting an iconic that Dark fucking Pit..
In the time it took them to make the four or so clones we do have, they probably could have cranked out one actual character. But like you said, quantity over quality is their policy once again.
I really don't think Sakurai would give his own series' character a clone moveset; so I'm gonna assume he's gonna have quite a few new moves. If anything, I'm gonna assume he's gonna be like Wolf was to Fox.
Sakurai took the route he did in melee.
He prefered having 6 clones than having a unique character made. People dig alot into having more characters, so he went for it again. (my guess).
Also the budget is greatly reduced when you don't have to make an animation from scratch, so that's something else too.
I don't care how much people go on and on about how different fox and wolf's A moves are, when their specials and final smash are that similar, they're fucking clones. People act like wolf and fox are NOTHING alike "HURRR I CUNT BELIEVE U IMPLIED WOLF AND FOX ARE SIMILAR!!!"
That's admittedly laziness, we all know that. It's cheaper to produce a clone, but all I'm saying is that wait for actual confirmation rather than making an ass out of you and me.
I feel Dark Pit has potential to be unique enough from Pit because of the source material. Back in the day, Ganon got Cap'n's moveset because they were crunched for time. At this point, Ganon will never get his own moveset.
But they are. The animations would probably be the only thing reused, and even then they change those (they changed Pit and ZSS's projectile charging animations during Smash 4's development)
Do you understand what a budget is?
If they weren't clones they wouldn't be in the game at all you retard, and no other character would replace them either. Each clone is one free bonus character on top of the full roster.
There have been 3 Kid Icarus games over the span of 27 years. There 3 Kid Icarus reps in Smash 4.
There have been more than 20 Donkey Kong games over the span of more than 30 years, with games still being released and acclaimed. DK has sold more than Kid Icarus ever will with Donkey Kong Country alone, and is Nintendo's 5th highest selling franchise. He has a wide cast of colorful characters that would make great Smash fighters, and has been in the series since the Smash 64. His series has the same amount of reps as Kid Icarus.
This is one of many reasons why people dislike Kid Icarus' presence in Smash. Sakurai is ruining Smash by making it his personal marketing tool, and ignoring franchises that have enormous fanbases.
I guess I didn't really word what I was saying there correctly. I meant that if he was going to be clone, he'll be like what Wolf is to Fox; quite a few differences, but specials are generally the same.
Fox, Falco, and Wolf are clones when it comes to their specials. Aside from that, they're not very close to each other.
I'm ok with a unique character getting clone moves, but fucking Dark Pit? Literally a pallet swap?
Playstation All-Stars did this shit with Cole, why is acceptable all of a sudden?
This kind of makes me sad. I liked him in his original incarnation of just having a bow as a weapon. Now he's running around with fucking staves and snipers and floating ball shooters, and cat claws and giant mallets, what's the fucking point of making uprising a Kid Icarus game?
Is anyone acting like it's acceptable...?
Pretty sure everyone is pissed off about it, if you haven't noticed. It's just that we can't do anything to change it, so... There's nothing to do but accept it.
I dont understand why he couldn't have just been a skin for Pitt
Dark Pit plays more like Brawl Pit while Pit has all his new fancy moves? It's like how Fox was more weighty in N64, but was made faster in Melee, and Falco was more attuned to N64 Fox.
Clones are automatically shit, end of story
You can't defend
Never liked Pit in Smash and only played the NES Kid Icarus. Edgy characters were never for me but just by appreance I look forward to Dark Pit.
must be because I'm from El Salvador
Easy to implement
Don't take resources
Are usually done at the end of development when there's not enough time to make new characters but enough time to have clones.
Then explain Lucina.
>Clone characters don't take a spot from anybody
A single clone characters doesn't
Multiple Clone Characters take time and resources that could have been used to make 1 new/unique character slot away.
All these clones together made it so we didn't get 1 unique character.
Dark Pit is a character that nobody wanted, from a series that already has 2 reps. Doc Mario as well, who I actually liked and mained in Melee, is like bringing back Pichu.
My biggest problem is Ice Climbers who had a unique playstyle and were the only reps from their series were cut for some reason, but these guys + Girl-Marth get spots.
As long as they aren't rehashed to death where only 60% of the roster were characters with their own unique style like Mortal Kombat Armageddon or have secret characters be mostly fucking recolors and a Megaman clone of Roll in Marvel vs Capcom 1
Smash hasn't reached that level yet and even for Pitto's sake, he was the Cole/Evil Cole issue in PSASBR. Pissed me off but I let it go
>Girlfriend gets me to try KI:U
>Play on level 1.
>Can't possibly believe the game is this easy.
>Put it on level 9.
>A little difficult, die a couple of times.
>Finally beat it.
>Lower down to level 7 to see just how much different it is.
>Level 7 feels like I'm playing level 1.
Literally who the fuck cares about this shitstain outside of the most hardcore sakurai fanboys?
So why does Dark Pit potentially get his own slot and not someone like Dark Samus?
I haven't played the Kid Icarus games but considering how recent he and DS being the main antagonist of the Prime trilogy, something seems odd.
They could of given Ganondorf/Toon Link an original moveset instead of adding Pit edgy edition.
Thats why I'm mad
>so why the hate
He was a literal palette swap in the last fucking game
I'm also hoping for some character unlocks. That was always my favorite part, because after my friends take a healthy beating from me, they don't want to play. I had so much fun in previous Smash games chasing unlocks. I fear that Sakurai has already revealed all the surprises. I'm also hoping that the Wii U and 3DS have slightly different rosters, but I've got the feeling it will be exactly the same.
