Blasto, Uberhero, and Ellen from Folklore were on the concept roster. There were a bunch more in pic related.

Ryu Hayabusa and Lightning were in the game but it was too close to release and instead of delay, Sony made them release it. In order to make them fit. Superbot tried to bargain for DLC rights to make it work but Techmo said no and as such Ryu was removed. Thanks to the shitty rivals feature, Lightning had to go too.

Namco and Irrational were the ONLY third parties actually interested in putting forth some effort into making the game. Ken Levine wrote Big Daddy's dialogue and story, and Namco recorded all of Heihachi's lines so that the Japanese would be correct.

Conversely, Capcom told Superbot to take new Dante and hit the road. They couldn't even make the most out of the game because it wasn't out yet so they legitimately could only use what was shown in the trailers. No joke.

Snake AND Raiden were supposed to be in the game. Then Konami wanted to advertise MGR and Kojima didn't ever want to see them fight because BEST FRANZ.

Lara Croft is not in the game because the devs wanted her to be playable in her own game before getting put into a crossover. Admirable but disappointing.

Spyro and Crash are not in for multiple reasons. One, Activision is a giant jew and wanted more money than Superbot could even hope to offer. Two, there was some bullshit about "multiplatform" mascots and being in All Stars would make them "seem as though they were better on Playstation."
Because Activision is currently pumping Crash games, right?

Ico and Wander were out because the devs are pretentious and don't want their characters associated with fun.

Tau was cut for reasons unknown.

SSM has dropped all support after a lackluster patch and hasn't even finished the Zeus and Isaac DLC they are selling for full price. Zeus got in because he costed little to implement and EA was looking for advert handjobbing.

The combat system is just silly: hit the enemy till your power bar is full and YOU CAN ONLY WIN if you make a special move and hit the enemy... What?

Just make a life bar, this special move=KO system is unfair...

What if I get killed and the second I respawn into battle, someone make a new special and kill me twice? Stupid...

And why do I need a level 3 special bar? You can earn KO,s just by making the first special...

Choose Donte and his level 1 special can kill the other 3 players if in one hit if they are distracted...

The collision detection is so poor.

When you hit an enemy with a combo, they start to float like balloons... Played only for a short time, don`t know if you can make a combo breaker or a counterattack.
