You are now aware that White Glint and Metal Gear Rex are nearly same size.
Also, general vidya mecha thread?
You can't punch some to death with a tank.
>in the lower fucking atmosphere
>a fucking mech as the payload instead of just a tiny warhead
>no hueg fulltank to power them
>no surfaces that generate lift so power has to be diverted away from horizontal motion to keep it in the air
I bet that thing went like 5km
>tfw AC gameplay will never live up to these cutscenes
>tfw no AC movie
>tfw no AC6 at gamescom
>tfw no Chromehounds sequel
what if we strap more rockets onto the mech
but all of those rockets have a warhead on them too
The Armored Core V op got me so hyped and then the game was shit.
Because it's hard to design a map when people are blowing is up. You can't funnel people in certain directions or give them a break to load the map.
The mech can almost fly that fast without the boosters. They're just added on for extended rapid deployment so the mech doesn't have to stop and recharge its engines every half a minute.
The AC4 universe's tech levels are ridiculous.
Biggest disappointment to me was the removal of back weaponry.
Having only hand weapons really took out a lot of the variety in the game. The fact that shoulder missiles had very little ammo and was easy as fuck to resist also didnt help save its case.
Who the fuck designed this? A woman?
It is so unefficient and stupid it hurts. Toxic volatile expensive heavy rocket fuel just to fly few machine guns 20 metres over the ground? We have copters for 60 years now doing same shit on gasoline.
If it was on PC, the online only part could have made it worth it, and mods would have probably saved it as well. It was console only and the game is dead now
That's because the Eva's range between 40-200 meters tall, depending on the animation.
It would have played a helluva lot differently on PC.
I suspect a massive amount of bitching to come from turning speeds being based on the leg part rather than on mouse sensitivity.
On the other hand, manual aim weaponry like sniper cannons and rockets would probably be super dominant if they ever made a pc port.
I'm pretty much in your shoes. Been semi-marathoning Macross Frontier recently, taking it in as another random yearly mecha series. Been thinking of picking up the original TV series and filling in the gaps
Everything, starting from Production Order.
DYRL has the best animation of all time, but the plot is pretty weird and different than the show, so watch the show first.
Macross II has a ton of issues and is technically non-cannon.
Other than that, you're good to go.
Macross Frontier is basically built around homages to the original show, so it will be fun to gob back to the original.
Giant robots are the shit, I've loved them since I was very small.
But Armored Core has never done anything for me. The controls never felt good to me, and the robots never looked cool to me. I'm not sure why I feel this way, I'm not saying the game is shit or anything, because I haven't played one that held my interest long enough.
I just want a really good/cool giant robot game where I feel like a giant robot.
Preferably one where I defend the city from monsters. Is that so much to ask?
>I just want a really good/cool giant robot game where I feel like a giant robot.
>Preferably one where I defend the city from monsters. Is that so much to ask?
Robot Alchemic Drive is up your alley.
Is that the Russian answer to Metal Wolf Chaos?
Heard great things about it. Fast gameplay, lots of loadouts, space maps.
>super tengen gurren lagann
>150 billion ly tall
Sometimes, it's bigger than a building, other times it is not. Lazy animation. Evangelion was made on a shoestring budget.
Yeah this is true, I remember meeting some people from gainex at a convention and they told me that it all started going to shit near the end of the series run. No communication between Nips and Merica and other bullshit.
didn't help that the show was popular, the death threats and shit really got to the creator and his team185
Oh, that's fucking awesome.
Did they say anything about Anno going all grimdark in End of Evangelion?
Depression, he was under a lot of preassure and he honestly didn't want to do those movies because of how he felt the fans had treated him.
Original Series then Death and Rebirth from there comes End of Eva then if you want feel free to start 1.11 and move up from there.
Honestly I think the Original is the best and i feel that the new remake is way to cliche
Gunbuster is the top. It has great plot.
Evangelion is a good show, the fanbase is cancerous. Like another entry level mecha series.
And old school Gainax is really sadly neglected compared to FLCL and Eva.
Watched all of Knights of Sidonia during finals week of college
That shit was awesome and hit all sorts of spots I had. That deep space shit, images coming in blurry due to huge distances, lancers, neat stuff and XCOM shit. How was it regarded by people that aren't dumb like me?
nobody gives a shit about that
the devs fucked up - hard - with armageddon
they went from something unique to a soulless shooter that barely utilized its destruction elements at all
I skipped Attack on Titan because it seemed faggy but apparently this is AoT in space - and apparently also the main inspiration for AoT, if I'm to believe what I that one time
it wasn't particularly bad and the short season kept it from overstaying its welcome. Only the first ep was a chore to watch until my eyes adjusted to its style. The space battle in ep2 hooked me in until its end
He was trying to ruin the series and the characters as a cheeky response to all the death threats he got, the joke was on him though because they just loved it even more. He fucking hates evangelion post-original series, but nobody will ever pay him to do anything else.
Is Zone Of The Enders good?
I've never played a mech game before in my life and just received a $10 reward today from best buy and was thinking about picking up the HD Collection right now after work.
I've been meaning to get into the mech games and flying games like Ace Combat lately, would those be a good start?
ZoE is great. Just keep in mind that the first game is pretty bad compared to the second one, but in order to appreciate the second one you have to complete the first. You only need to play through it once though, then you can just run through 2 over and over again.
It's already on steam and has a playable early access build I think. I'm not sure how far development is, I stopped keeping up with it since I can't run the game on my toaster.
