This is one of the many reasons I don't play jap games. The vast majority of male characters look like such gigantic faggots, and the action is always exaggerated, flamboyant and silly like from some shitty cartoon.

As for Link, Megaman and all of those franchises, I personally believe they lost a lot of their charm when they started adding lore and more detailed art. I loved the original Megaman series, and it didn't feel that childish because the art style was so simplistic and silly, and the story was summed up in a few words.
However, with Megaman X, they started focusing more on the story and tried making the silly characters look "cool". Suddenly you went from a stylized, simplistic platformer, to playing something meant to appeal to the same audience as a Saturday morning cartoon.

Realism is in all things. But the degrees in which they're recognize vary from style to style.
We are to understand that Link is a humanoid with 2 legs, two arms, and mostly all human anatomy, except for the long ears. That in of itself is a degree of realism. Otherwise, why not make Link blue, with 3 legs, 5 arms, and he stabs people with a bowling ball?
Sure, that might appeal to some. But for the most part, it's just too random to fit within the Zelda setting, so it's discarded.

As for body types, there are aspects to it that are regarded in the Zelda universe. They wanted to make Ganon looks strong, so in TP, they made him a 9 foot tall mountain. And in WW, he was fat, but also very big in order to make him feel imposing. Even when he turns into a blue pig, they still give him a ton of muscles, because it fits the image of a big strong person.

When you look at the style of the game, it already regards varying body types to give different impressions of the character. Therefore, it stands to reason that if they wanted to make link appear stronger, then a bearmode body type would be more effective than any other.

We need a spinoff starring a Gerudo. They're a really cool race that haven't been explored, and it would be a great way to see Ganon as someone other than an antagonist. Maybe like a boogeyman who's used as a cautionary tale for his male successors, or a Bab Yaga figure who helps the main character with magic, but for a price. He tried to retrieve the eggs that the Pirates stole. It's his band that the manager is setting up for the carnival. You talk to all his close friends and fans, and they all regard him.

Kafei's sidequest is the most infamous in the game. it's the longest one, with the most complex amount of events. Kafei is the first character the player gets to play, who isn't Link.

Ralis's events caused Link to go through an event where he had to protect a wagon on horseback. One of he highlights to that game. He also led you to the Zora's tunic.

Only people that are taking UNREAL amounts of steroids can look that cut at be the absolute strongest they can be. Mariusz changed the game by taking what was considered to be unsafe amounts of various substances.

Look at Olympic heavyweight weightlifters. All get tested for steroids. Most take them anyway, but at much more realistic levels versus WSM where there is no testing. All carry substantial fat. And it's not like this comes at no cost. They have to get out of the hole with that extra weight. They carry it for a reason. Fat is anabolic. It allows a person to carry more muscle mass. Now before you go on another one of your ignorant rants, do yourself a favor and do a pubmed search.

Style is perception. And in accepting a style, you are making an internal reference to your own experience. By doing so, you are allowing yourself to associate with the imagery.
For example: this is why those who grow up listening to country tend to appreciate country music. Those that grow up with rock, tend to appreciate rock music. Their willingness to associate with a certain style, is based on their experience.

So when a person associates to an abstract style, the willingness to do so doesn't come out of a vacuum. There is some experience the person has, which tuned them into the same vibe as that style.

So when a person makes the strong character big, and the weak character small, are they appealing to realism? Or are they appealing to the player's willingness to accept their style?

Take spongebob for example. Nothing about that show is real. However, when spongebob went to the beach and saw all those strong dudes lifting anvils, they were drawn to look muscular. And when spongebob wanted to get stronger, he bought inflatable arms to look muscular. Was all that an appeal to realism? Or was it a way to get the viewer to accept that a talking lobster can lift an anvil, and a sponge can't? At what degree does it become realism?
