You guys remember that shit with Ben Kuchera and Erik Kane? Well looks like the tables have turned, Kuchera's latest article about torrenting an unreleased version of Star Wars.
actually it appears he's just going to say this
>trying to damage the career of an actual journalist because of stupid petty bullshit
What a scumbag. Actual journalists are not people like Ben Kuchera. Or anyone in the gaming press these days. I don't know where this glorified blogger gets off.
This shit brings my piss to a boil and it really shouldn't
>YES,GAMER TEARS. SEND THEM TO ME.
What the fuck are all these assholes doing in this industry if they hate gamers so much?
What, is this more fallout because everyone more or less told them recently that they were GROSSLY FUCKING UNHAPPY with the way they run shit? Why don't they find other fucking jobs in another medium?
Can someone give me the easy step by step of whats going on?
Last year Kain said it was ok to pirate a old ass game that cant be bought anymore?
And the other guy got mad via twitter.
Now the tables have turned BUT, the game this time is a new star wars game?
>Why don't they find other fucking jobs in another medium?
They tried. Noone wants them. Do you think a guy like Kuchera could write for (say) the NY Times or something? Fuck, he'd not even get a job at the Daily Planet.
So now it's unethical to talk about pirating games.
Game Jouranlist bragged about that shit before.
>You're a hypocrite
>Whahaha! Cry more, faggot.
What is wrong with these people? If you can't even fucking respond like a journo with facts and statements and shit, why respond at all? Why not just ignore "GAMERS" and their "TEARS" entirely?
>Or anyone in the gaming press these days.
Don't kid yourself, the gaming press has always been made out of high school beta ass dropout nerds willing to take it up the ass.
>Why don't they find other fucking jobs in another medium?
That would imply that they could get jobs in another medium. No other medium is as unprofessional and manchildish like the game industry and game journalism.
Though to be honest, the way he debates is almost identical to the way most of anon debates on /v/. I wonder if he comes here.
>Advocating straight piracy of a game is one thing. A transformative work of a film you've bought a few times? Very different.
>But if you think talking about fan edits is advocating piracy or will somehow hurt Lucasfilm or the creative work behind Star Wars? C'mon
>So now it's unethical to talk about pirating games.
It can get you in big trouble and possibly fired by your superiors.
Something as big as Star Wars and openly pirating anything under its franchise could get WSG in legal action with Disney. Erik Kain could get fired.
This asshole Kuchera though is going into the extreme and willing trying to fuck over Eric Kain. Petty elementary school shit. But hey, what do you expect from Videogame "Journalist"?
>Though to be honest, the way he debates is almost identical to the way most of anon debates on /v/. I wonder if he comes here.
Doesn't really matter if he comes here. Vidya players, thus journalists tend to be menchildren.
Kain was actually talking about how a previously unreleased SNES game was only available through emulation and provided evidence of this (you know, like a good journalist). Ben jumped on this as Kain advocating for piracy somehow
this will always remain the quintessential ben kuchera, as well as a perfect summation of vidya journalism
I seriously hope all this Zoe Quinn business resonates around the entire industry, and scum like this get fired in favor of actual vidya enthusiasts who review games without an agenda.
>Instead of reporting on what could turn into the biggest clusterfuck showing how deep the corruption goes in Video game journalism. Kane decides to target someone he had a pissing match with in the past.
Told you this fucker abandoned us.
Given anytime anyone wants to bring this up and talk about the legitimate problems in the industry they're drowned out by millions of you faggots saying WHORE SLUT BITCH CUNT probably not.
>I wonder if he comes here.
I'd bet you you lots of game journos come here. I mean over on /co/ we got confirmation last night that a bunch of Comics Alliance people (and the creator of Potter Puppet Pals) read /co/ when we were calling them out because they were going on about having someone's dick pics that he sent to someone unsolicited with the only proof being "we've seen them, please believe is". I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Kotaku writers, Polygon douches and the like lurk /v/ if not actively post.
Nerd enthusiast journos are egotistical fucks and supremely childish so they'll always want to know what people are saying about them after all.
It's a fanmade version of the original Star Wars, using the recent BD release as a base, then cutting in original scenes from other (older) sources and color correcting the remainder to make it look like the original (which Lucas is infamously unhappy with). A writeup talks about how Lucasarts would literally hunt down and destroy any 35mm release prints of the original film that pop up.
It's great for consumers but pretty much spits in the face of both the director's vision of his work (unanimously as bad as it may be) and rightsholders of the releases that were used to make this fanmade version.
This man's complete lack of professionalism is astounding.
Disney owns MOST of the Star Wars rights. One of the few things Fox still has control over is the home distribution rights of the original trilogy, which is currently blocking Disney's plans to re-relase the original, unaltered trilogy on Blu-Ray.
That's pretty dickish of Fox, considering the fanbase's demand for an unaltered cut. Then again, since when did Fox ever listen to the fans of the shit they produce?
I'd have her lay down on her back and I would kneel to her side and place my dick between her second and third row of abs, right on top her belly button. Then I'd have her do crunches while I slowly thrust whenever she curls upward.
Disney realizes how much people want this and it would be an easy way to help build hype on the road to Episode 7 but Fox isn't giving up or sharing the rights.
>star wars will never release in your lifetime
>Why don't they find other fucking jobs in another medium?
Because most gaming "journalists" are so woefully unqualified for any real job related to that field it's hilarious. There's a reason 99% of them bounce around between different magazines and sites and never move on to write for newspapers or non-gaming publications.
They're still high school children, the lot of them, and it's exactly why no other medium cares about this oppressive SJW bullshit, but it has a toehold everywhere in gaming.
Harmey's Despecialized Edition is fucking legit guys.
Its allmost disgraceful that its promoted by that fuckwit.
I don't understand why old George decided to fuck with hundreds upon hundreds of minor details in his editing of Star Wars over the last 3 decades when every single one of his changes are retarded.
No, it's not the same reason. Did you even read the post and what it was replying to? George Lucas going around purposely destroying original prints of the film is not at all the same thing as pre 1930 films not being stored correctly/carelessness.
George Lucas is a perfectionist.
During production of the original trilogy, he had other people on staff to override some of his dumber ideas. When opportunities came along to re-release the films, such as new technology or anniversary editions, he insisted that only his "improved" versions were the only ones allowed to be released.
He also takes the view that since he made the movie, it's his story, and anything he says or changes is the definitive edition. Horribly ironic since much of the popularity of Star Wars depends on work by other authors, EU games, and even fanfiction, which Lucas has not hesitated to ignore and retcon when convienient.
Why does the industry hate its consumers so much
> all these journalists who hate gamers
Is there any other industry where the press keeps shitting on those who enjoy this hobby? Seriously I used to think journalists had my interests in mind but over time it's gotten worse and worse with allegations of entitlement and hatred of gamers. What the fuck happened to vidya news?
Every industry has its black sheep. Usually they're identified as "nerds". In the gaming industry it's just "gamers". All the more reason to not use this terrible, idiotic, laughable term.
No, if I remember correctly it wasn't about torrents at all. Kain wrote and article about emulation. Then Kuchera started bitching about him condoning piracy because he think that all emulation is piracy, not being aware that if you own a game it is perfectly legal to rip it and run it on an emulator. That's the backstory as far as I know.
Its pretty logical. SJW said they wanted to take over the last frontier of masculinity which was gaming and force a change.
Its not surprising they hate gamers. Gamers are the thing they have been fighting all long in their warped minds.
Oh look she is faking being hacked again. Again the shit looks nothing like a 4chan persons email. Love all the > arrows that measn its 4cahn right.
They stop at the end because that's the response she wrote to the message. The parts with the arrows are the message she received, the part without at the bottom is her typed response to it.
One of the earliest habits that people here pick up is never using first person terms. Almost never saying "I" or "me" or the like. They don't necessarily say 'we' either, like they're part of a collective, just tending to avoid all of that altogether. They write around it. It's an easy way of telling a fake from the genuine article.
Sadly that never happens. It's an ideal hold by a few, vocal people, which I also belong to, but by no means standard.
It's also an email about a personal experience. Not a random post on 4chan. And even there 'I' and 'me' would still be used. Look at any screencap.
Follow the trail for freinds Bet that turns up some interesting stuff.
Aslo how do you know its this person? I doubt someone that cant afford games could afford a comp to hack with.
He meant why doesn't fox just release the blu-rays themselves. My best guess would be that fox is sitting on them hoping that Disney will offer up enough cash to make them want to sell.
Fox had to go through approval for Lucas to release anything. Now that he gave it all to do Disney, Fox can release a theatrical set but they're using it to make big bucks from Disney
Why do we care?
On average, /v/ is not anti piracy, and since it is impossible to view the film otherwise, there is a historical/archival reason to do it.
I feel like you all are just pissing and moaning for the sake of it
Prime example of why anybody who says "just ignore it" are gigantic cunts and deserve to be shit on with all our fury. That goes exceptionally so for the faggots that say that shit here, the shitposters and virallers and everything else. Killing spambots and stupid shit like dubs killed our refuge against these people just because a few niggers abused those things.
>THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR-A PLAYING MY GAME
Those were the days, huh?
In other news, the petition is only 39 signatures away from 2000.
I'm certain it will be complete by the time everyone wakes up and shit kicks off again today and tonight. I hope it becomes a hot topic.
Because they think they are artists.
Check out what they think is art otherwise. Some junkie broad shoving pasta up her cunt or some faggot like anthony burch shitting in a trumpet and having his lesbian wife play the american national anthem on it.
They are complete fucking retard lunatics. And all based in california, the state famous for it's crazy cults and weird people.
You just wait until we get big enough 3D printers.
Also historic archival is a very important thing. Think of how much history the internet alone has lost. Things the world at large will never see or know, or the lessons learned from them.
You don't have to hate all gamers for hating a particular subset.
For example, I can hate people who freak out about the newest Fox-News-esque talking point and make twenty thousand threads about it on /v/.
Kain wrote an article about some SNES game that never came out, and said it was good and suggested using an emulator to play it. Kuchera got super butthurt about it and went on the warpath against Kain, saying he advocates piracy and should be blackballed. Then anon found that Kuchera had written articles painting ROMs in a positive light before, and Kuchera just responded by basically responding to everyone with "u mad?"
It's terrible at the two extremes, both Indie devs and BIG VIDYA companies are pretty fucking awful.
The middle ground is shrinking, but there are still decent indies and decent companies (mostly the smaller ones) that are around. Too bad they get drowned out in all this shit and manufactured controversy.
