Yes, they had potential to be good but the main issue is that it became the turning point between RO between 'old' and 'new' RO.

Some people argue juno patch ruined everything with 2-2, but I honestly see no problem with them.

Pretty much if two characters are married, you can have a character be that couples kid. You get some type of bonus with your parents or whatever, but I think it caps your stats lower than normal. Pre-renewal was most social time indeed. I can't remember more social game since that.
I played on russian official server. Donations and bad management was issue, sure, but pretty much only renewal really killed game for me. It was more when they did than what they did. By the time renewal was out I already wasn't intrested enough in RO to learn all that new mechanics and shit. So was most players of my generation, and without old friends game was meaningless.

Ok how many of you really think Tree of Savior will suck big time?

I been playing mmos religiously for the past 11 years korean or western you name it, and I've learned to not get hyped the hard way, so many dissapointments one after another, just made me lose faith in my beloved genre. But when this god damn ToS blog updates started coming a few months back, I couldn't help but get crazy about it again, it looks so good, so fun and addicting, I'm too excited about it that if it turns out to be shit I'm going to scream internally for letting myself getting this hopeful again.

monk is probably one of the most gear based classes in the game, unfortunately

archer is good, because not only does dex increase your accuracy, it increases ranged weapon damage, and it's easy to swap elemental affinity with your equipped arrows, traps also can keep something from hitting you entirely as you destroy it, downside is traps and arrows can be a money drain

All those memories in this game, whether it was playing on RP servers or grinding/helping friends, it really felt like another lifetime ago since I played.

Absolutely, it meant a lot more grinding to be relevant and killed the game for new casual players. In the earlier days it didn't take much at all for someone to at least be relevant in WoE, because you could only be so strong. Taking the ceiling off meant you had to keep climbing.
