Smash info translated niggers
Confirmed for 2.1GB
>Each person needs a copy for local play
I mean, it's Smash Bros, everyone's gonna have a copy anyway, or we'll all just play on the WiiU, but that seems like a massive missed opportunity.
>game has more content than melee, including at least having more trophies than brawl
>only takes up 2.1 GB
I have a 3ds
and i'm only getting the wii u version since i have a wii u too
Sakurai is a mage. The game has almost 50 playable characters, a shitton of modes, music and stages, runs at 60fps on a pretty beautiful engine and takes only 2.1GB.
And we can't forget that the 3DS version is confirmed to having more trophies alone than Brawl did, and that one had more than 500. Fuck me in the ass.
How many stages are confirmed for each so far?
Perhaps, but really the average 3DS game can hold 4GB and the rare 8GB. Lets say the size is 4GB, then they can definitely fit two more songs for each stage and still be below 4GB since songs take up 95% of a game when uncompressed
>Not getting both
I'm gonna end up with THREE copies, when all is said and done. One each of the 3DS for my brother and I and one for the WiiU.
The 3DS game isn't a port of the WiiU game. This has been demonstrated time and time again. You'll miss out.
>The game has almost 50 playable characters, a shitton of modes, music and stages, runs at 60fps on a pretty beautiful engine and takes only 2.1GB.
And we can't forget that the 3DS version is confirmed to having more trophies alone than Brawl did, and that one had more than 500.
It means nothing, the songs take up the most space and I bet the songs took up 1.5GB to 1.8GB on the game
Yeah, I was confused about that too
Why not make one of you biggest games of the year compatible with your older consoles?
Guess this is more of NIN¥DO's jewery at work
>can't be played on Virtual Boy
We can't know for sure, but it will be around that number.
Think that we have 37 characters confirmed so far, and Sakurai said we are "nearing the end of the newcomer videos". That means we are getting 1 or 2 new videos tops.
Brawl had 12 secret characters, so all-in-all we are pretty close to 50.
I think I'm gonna need a new SD Card.
>inb4 >buying digital
>can't be played on my trusty gba SP
what the fuck nintendo
>all that glorious kid icarus and pokemon music
>It really is going to be called Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U
Sakurai could not have possibly chosen a duller name. Along with the questionable roster choices, it's like he wants this game to fail.
18014 blocks left.
Space-efficiency master race reporting in
I've been thinking in something.
How many consoles Wii had sold when Brawl came out? 3DS has an install base of 45 million right now, while Wii U has 7 million.
How much would it sell if it sold just as well as Brawl did?
Are people this fucking dense.
>Super Smash Bros. for [PLATFORM]
>Super Smash Bros. 4 [PLATFORM]
I JUST BLEW YOUR FUCKING DICK AWAY.
Definitely downloading it
>mfw living in a state with no digital tax
>well, why else would they have chosen such a dull name?
Because they just make dull names sometimes and they wanted to make sure people knew that this game is for two different consoles.
ORIGINAL TWELVE CHARACTERS NOT YET CONFIRMED:
CHARACTERS THAT WERE IN MELEE AND BRAWL NOT YET CONFIRMED:
Falco (Questionable; clone)
Ganondorf (Definitely getting back in, hopefully with a new moveset)
Ice Climbers (Definitely getting back in)
CHARACTERS THAT WERE IN BRAWL NOT YET CONFIRMED:
Lucas (Questionable; clone)
Snake (Probably not getting back in)
Wolf (Questionable; clone)
Ness, Jigglypuff, Ganondorf, and the Ice Climbers definitely aren't getting cut. Falco, Lucas, and Wolf are all clones, so their status is questionable. (Ganondorf is a clone, but he's also arguably the second most major Nintendo villain.) Who do you think will get the axe?
I highly doubt whatever lame-ass roster choices you've got would improve the game in any way.
Sorry you're waifu isn't playable m8, I really am
>dumb niggers ITT not realizing that this is the 3ds version that is 2.1 gigs, the wii u version will be at least 3 times the size
You're not special. People can just switch their state in settings to remove tax.
>Brawl has 8GB
>Over half of the data was SSE shit
>Lot of space was used up in "Masterpieces" that ended up being full games with a timer stuck on
>Music takes up large space too
Yeah it's easy to see why Brawl had huge loading times
Why do you expect the Ice Climbers to be back?
They were in the game only as retro NES era characters.
Now we got Megaman and Pacman doing the same thing and they are way more popular and known too.
>SD Card currently has 9709 block free
>do some math, see what happens if I delete all my demos and Sub Wars
>after removing demos and installing Smash, my SD Card will have 401 blocks of free space
>cutting melee veterans
And ICs are meant to represent early arcadey one-off NES games, while MM represents NES MM games and Pac-Man represents Namco arcade games. There's a difference.
>smash 64 ranked higher than anything
Meleefags. Not even once.
>bought 32 gig SD card
>120k available blocks
>tfw bought a 16 GB SD card for 12 bucks
>Still have like 70,000 blocks after downloading a ton of shit
Too bad I have to pick up the retail version to get the coin from the Smash Fest, I'd like to have the game always on the system
i really, really doubt it. Smash is about the closest thing to a sure sale you can get.
they did it with mario kart since its not a system seller, but getting 2 for 1 may push people into buying a wii u.
worked on me. i enjoy mario kart with /v/ every weekend
You lucky bastards. I had a 2 GB SD Card for years and only recently made the upgrade to 4 GB.
Optimization. Sakurai noted that they were having a hard time getting characters with more than one fighter to work in the game, probably due to framerate issues when you have 4 players all using Ice Climbers.
I hope they don't get cut - I really doubt that they could, considering I've seen the polar bear in a screenshot or a video somewhere... but it could happen.
Here's a source.
IGN words it differently from other sites, giving it an "It's unlikely they are cut" spin. Take that as you will.
The Wii had around 42 million units sold by 2008, which was when the Wii launched. And I'm even counting the whole year while the game was out in March or something.
In the first year alone it sold 8 million units, with those 42 million consoles installed. Have in mind that teh install base for the Wii was way more casual than that on the 3DS.
This WILL sell more than Brawl when you add up both versions.
>3DS facing challenges in accommodating characters that incorporate more than one fighter
I think those challenges are already done with, judging by the official confirmation of Olimar's return and Rosalina having a Luma help her.
The game was launched in North America.
Just like with this one, they had it earlier in Japan.
It's a cool article.
Pikmin AI is to just follow Oilmar around, Luma's AI is to wander around aimlessly unless called and attack when Rosalina attacks.
Both much more simplistic AIs than Nana who actually reacts to what other fighters are doing and can be desynched from Popo.
Beats me, mate. I'd be surprised if Nintendo World doesn't do something HUGE for launch day, though.
This is what it looks like, by the way. Not mine of course. The Best Buy I was at apparently had a shipping error and instead of the first 70 people who showed up, everyone who preordered that day gets the coin
I cant imagine AI would push the 3ds
over the edge. How much harm could Nana really be? All she does is either mimic your inputs or do nothing but attempt to return to Popo
It has the game's title on the other side
Why the fuck do people still think this means Ice Climbers can't be in?
Rosalina is LITERALLY Ice Climbers except smarter. They obviously got around the fucking problem, not to mention he said that more than a year ago.
If ICs don't return, it isn't because of that.
>we will never get an event like the Best Buy one in the UK
>we will never get a demo, even with limited characters for 3DS
M8, there was Japan event last month where you could play Smash for 3DS and Wii U
There will also be another event called Eurogamer Expo with Smash for 3DS and Wii U next month
Though, they are both held in London.
>actually getting this game digitally
More than happy with my 16GB SD card that only has half space taken thanks mostly to REvelations and DKCR 3D
I dont have tickets for Eurogamer, and Im reluctant to get them now seeing as I'm starting uni and don't know what my schedule will be, but it's a possibility. Thanks for reminding me of Eurogamer.
>No download play
God fucking damn it. Knowing that, I almost don't want to buy it if not for the fact that I'll be waiting another couple months for Wii U.
What good is a muiltiplayer 3DS game with no download play?
Aren't cartridge games usually better compressed than disc games? I'm not saying there will be no difference in amount of content between the two versions, but I don't think it'll be a large difference
Then why didn't they add more songs?
oh well i guess the Wii U version is the one for that.
Good thing I need 6 1/3 copies of the game.
Physical master race, digital plebs need not apply.
Download play would heavily limit the roster and stage chioces, man.
Take SSFIV3D, for example. When you use download play, you can only use Ryu, just like you can only use Shy Guy in Mario Kart.
Half of the fun in Smash is playing as different characters, imagine if everyone could only use Mario.
When the fuck are they announcing and opening preorders for the 3DS bundle in other places than Europe? Come on.
>Limit character selection to starting roster/franchise main characters
>Limit stages to Battlefield, FD, and potentially some of the other nonscrolling stages
>People who own the game can pick anyone, like MK7 download play
I'll admit, gimping the game down for download play would hurt the options in download play, but it still feels like a staple of Nintendo handhelds since it's something they've had since the GBA, so to leave it out in smash feels odd to me.
Still exists. You can play the multi for Mario Kart, Star Fox, and others with single cart.
But this game is way too intense. Loading times inbetween matches would be insufferable, if even possible.
dude a 64gb SD card costs 30~ Bucks. Why are you so poor?
I'm still on the fence about character customizing. They can't even be used online, plus the different moves could've been used for other characters.
>Marth's Shield Breaker where he slides forward for Lucina
>Falco and Wolf possibly being cut and using their special moves for customizing Fox
>guy asks for predictions
>tfw have 32 gig card
>only around 20k blocks left
Looks like im gonna have to go back to physical for everything else
Because they wanted to keep the filesize under control. It's fine because it works like in Melee
>tfw holding L on Temple to get that sweet sweet Fire Emblem theme
He already said the Wii U one was gonna be like Brawl in that sense
I found it odd as well, but there's no avoiding it. Sakurai seems to be heavily going for customization on the 3DS version, just like he said he wanted to make this version the "Personal" one a few years ago.
Fuck you. Snake had the best and most entertaining moveset introduced in brawl
All you have to do is reformat the card to FAT32.
>128 gb card
>3DS only supports up to 32GB
I hope we get a different XL here. The one in Europe is fucking atrocious looking.
Not having to switch off your games. Smash, for example, is oftenly played so it will be great.
On the other hand, you will need a big SD card. I have a Wii U and already had to delete some things to download Tropical Freeze, for example.
>all dem blocks
I agree, anon.
I've been holding off from an upgrade to an XL ever since the Smash announcement, expecting a special edition, and it's starting to get tiring considering my launch unit is starting to show age a little bit, but if we get the same XL as Europe I might just give up and do a normal upgrade.
If we combine characters that have been revealed and assume that most characters from Brawl are coming back (with exception to Ivysaur, Squirtle and Snake) then we already have 49 characters. Not counting Wolf, Falco and Lucas that leaves us with 46.
If Mewtwo comes back and Wolf, Falco and Lucas aren't cut we hit 50. Even if Mewtwo doesn't come back, if Wolf, Falco and Lucas aren't cut and we get at least 2 more newcomers we are over 50. Either way it's a safe bet we are hitting the 50 mark.
Actually not quite. The game was large (and dual-layered) because of the Subspace Emissary cutscenes. While they are FMVs, and not quite utilizing the Wii's power, the video files themselves were pretty large. If they weren't there, the actual size would probably be a tad bit more than Melee's.
Since SSB4 isn't using cutscenes like those in Subspace, it's safe to assume that the filesize won't be so large... for the 3DS. The Wii U version will of course be larger since it's HD and all.
If I'm wrong, then here's a pic of a woman's abs as my apology.
>no Yumi's Odd Odyssey
You ain't my nigga
seen it on Smash replays, a guy was playing Olimar, he through his pikmin, it landed on an item on the ground and it picked it up and brought it to him.
Don't know if Sakurai said anything about it, but there's some footage floating around.
Physical buyers! What are your release day plans?
>be at uni for about a month on release day
>game comes out day after my birthday
>if local GAME has midnight release, go there
>if not, get game ASAP on Friday
>play all day, hopefully with new friends
I'm getting the 3DS XL bundle so buying it physical would be a waste of money (I'll buy it secondhand later, for collecting purposes).
>sending me mum to go pick up the game while I'm at uni (I live it at home for college)
>get home ASAP
>waiting for smealum to release the 3DS exploit and homebrew loader
post yfw when you play it for the first time and movement is slow as balls
i think the legal copyright information would be deconfirmation enough now.
if Snake was in Smash, he would be a trophy, and that copyright info would be on his description page like Ubisoft's Rayman.
>E-EVERYTHING KOJIMA DOES CAN BE A RUSE
>tfw local GAME has no midnight release
>tfw want to preorder because the guy at the shop told me preorders are starting to sold out (I think this is bullshit)
>tfw just one friend is interested in picking this day one
>tfw he is poor and maybe he can't get it
Man, going to buy pre-ordered games with friends is fun. I went with a frind to get GTA V and it was fucking hype
>No longer own Brawl or Melee
>Haven't played Smash in years
>mfw no matter what speed Smash 4 is at I'll love it because I forgot what to base it on
Anyone who wasted money on a Gateway will tell you its the bee's knees but you're better off just buying the games at this point. Nintendo can and will just patch the firmware again too, didn't have that with the DS.
count again, that's 47 not 49
people are assuming a 48 character roster since that's the number that will fit on both the 3ds and wii u css, so that leaves 1 more newcomer, 2 if lucas is cut
in all likelihood, that's our roster
>mfw I actually liked the subspace emissary
>"Sakurai-san, you can't put Ridley and K.Rool in as villain reps, they are "fittable" as BIG bosses for stages and Smash Run. Remember when you snook him in the direct? Just deconfirmed them, same for Lucas, Wolf, and Snake!"
>"are you're implying that i can't? you really don't know how my ruses work, do you?"
You need to get a 2012 or earlier 3DS/XL with Sereal Number SW11xxx and below because those 3DS's come with Fimrware 4.5 or below. The 3DS needs to be at firmware 4.1 though 4.5 for the Gateway exploit to work. There is a list of 3DS games online that force the 3DS to update to 4.1-4.5 like EO4 and Luigi's Mansion
A Gateway 3DS cost $60-$70 and it needs micro SD cards to work, which one should already have.
Dunno how your Best Buy does the coins, but the one I pre-ordered at said they're probably only giving the coin to the first bunch of people who pick up their pre-orders (until they run out).
I hope they were talking out their ass though and have one for all pre-orders, I don't want to line up all day.
They still need to have the copyright if they're using another company's property but because the characters don't appear on the boxart or promotional materials they don't need to put the copyright information there.
Yeah, I think so.
Many games have DLC collaborations that with other company's properties that weren't listed in the original game package, they just add a new disclaimer on the DLC and update the game's legal description.
And the 3DS is technically capable of handling DLC.
I really hope nintendo does it.
They have done a shit ton of DLC lately and most of it has been really meh, but extra characters would actually be well worth it.
No idea what's the cost of a single character or how much it would have to cost but as long as it's less than $3-$5 per character would take it.
we mostly wont know until its out.
image related is Mario Golf World Tour
got DLC tag in eshop
What about classic stages?
Music wise this for Windy Hill
Those three are the major Nintendo IP's, it's fine for them to get the most of it.
Fire Emblem ONLY got popular and it gets four reps whereas DK still has jackshit despite the first game outselling half of Fire Emblem's games. It's bullshit.
>Thanks to Sakurai's favoritism we're inevitably going to get tons of KI:U music in both versions
>Dose boss themes
>Dat Dark Pit theme
>Desperate hope that
the Sonic Lost Worlds stage has music from Sonic Colors
>Snake has been replaced by 2 Fire Emblem characters & Pac Man
Don't fucking tease me like this.
the code probably doesn't work yet
that being said, if download codes are out there, they should be working like a week before launch, for reviewers and such
that's what happened with animal crossing
so we should expect leaks pretty soon
Because some people take pleasure in knowing a fan favourite didn't make it.
Hell I don't think "he who will not be named" would be great for Smash but I wouldn't say no to him being included.
Also some people think certain franchises are over represented and would rather they didn't get any more character (Star Fox and Zelda come to mind (although in all fairness Star Fox does have a clone, a kinda clone and 3 landmasters))
The mode was fine in game-play terms, but it missed so many opportunities to use existing elements of the Nintendo world rather than subspace things. The beginning was exciting, and I nerded in the biggest way over the Dragoon part, but after that, the whole thing turned into MAZE-EXPLORER which I really disliked. It felt like retracing everything we had already done without the excitement of any more characters or interesting interactions.
I think the ending was ungraceful, and that hurt it a great deal. The rest was fine, but I wound up preferring adventure mode from Melee.
A lot of people would argue that there is nobody left to add who isn't a one-shot character.
For example if you suggest Ghriahim he gets vetoed for the hatred Skyward Sword gets, suggest Vaati vetoed for being a character from the portable games, suggest Zant people will argue he wasn't main villain of his game etc.
>Hopefully will be in
>Songs that i REALLY WANT!
Anon please, both is better.
>Tables Turn: the song starts playing and Red gets a fairly long, but not too drastic power boost, similar to Unlimited Form.
>Special Attack where all the types of Wonderful Ones attack Intertwined-style
I'll make a Red or Mr. Wedgewood Brawler Mii if I have too, but I won't like it.
Anything, anything at ALL from the Game & Watch Gallery games. It's a crime that they had the chance to include as many songs as they wanted in Brawl, and all they picked were "remixed beeps" and "the remixed beeps from the last game."
what the fuck are "blocks" anyways?
Most recent design simple as that. Same goes for Fox too.
Explained with the Zelda series using the Twilight Princess design again. It was the last main title game to have concept art for Sheik and was also the last game to have Ganondorf.
All I ask is for this on Pac-Maze:
Monolith Soft works on a shitton of Nintendo games (Skyward Sword, ALBW, Animal Crossing New Leaf) and is only credited in the...credits
There's also the fact that the only companies who seem to be acknowledged are the ones on the packaging, which as several people have brought up is a thing that happens
I'd guess Sakurai goes by new instalments only. Using Zelda as reference again, he could have used their Ocarina of Time designs because of Ocarina Of Time 3D (on a personal note I wish he did, not a fan of Twilight Princess Ganon ge looks off)
>nintendo constantly trying to convince everyone to buy digital instead of physical
>offering more club nintendo points for digital
>sales on digital games
>wii u deluxe digital promotion
>advertisements in your notifications that end with "click here to go to the eshop and download this title"
>they release the system-selling monolith that will make or break both the Wii U and 3DS
>doesn't even fit on the SD card that comes with the system
>getting the digital download
What's it like to be a pleb? Not only are you missing out on a snazzy case, but also wasting precious memory on what should be used to download digital only games. You miss out on physical bonuses too. I preordered mine from Target and get a free $5 gift card. Have fun with your imaginary copy of the game, nerds.
Fucking yes Pac-Rainbow would be perfect.
THESE TWO ON THE N'S CASTLE STAGE PLEASE
>tfw I still have the SD card that came with my XL.
Sakurai isn't going to wait that the roster is spoiled. He's going to make a big last announcement and it's going to be soon.
The Pokemon theme song. Would hype the battles.
I hope, they need to upload that last direct fast. We are going to be getting roster leaks in the coming weeks.
And I respect yours too, anon. Here's hoping one of them will be in.
Here's what's gonna happen
>Final Smash Direct end of August/beginning of September
>fleshes out remaining info on 3DS version, talks about Wii U version modes, and how they connect
>maybe a little more about Amiibos.
>final new character reveal trailer.
Meta Knight is the last veteran reveal not part of a trailer. Then when the game releases in Japan, we'll have a day or two of freaking out over fake secret character leaks (like Wolf or Krystal in Brawl) until we get multiple confirmations. Although it may actually take longer in this case, since you can't just plow through SSE to unlock everyone this time.
>Last few weeks before Japanese launch
>A POTD shows up showing off a veteran
>"Pic of the day!
[Your favorite vet]has returned to claim his place!"
>"You may say to yourself, 'but Sakurai, you just revealed Meta Knight!' And you're right, I did! But we're starting to run out of time before the Japanese launch, and it wouldn't be fair to everyone else if Japan got to know everything first, so I'll be showing off someone new every day!"
>"Remember how I said we were nearing the end of the newcomer trailers?
We might just run out this Friday..."
