I prefer the prime games more than the 2d metroid games. I played every metroid there is (except pinball and the ds one). I love how fast and more action based the 2d games are and i love that they are challening unlike the piss easy prime games, but as i said i like the prime games more because they offer a more immersive atmosphere.
My problem with the prime games is how slow samus moves which is "not true to her character"/how the 2d games play. To make it short, if we take the best of both worlds, a 3rd person metroid would undeniably be the best thing to happen to metroid. We already have many 2d games and 4 fpa/s metroid games. Time for something new.

I have no interest in a console because of graphics, I have interests in consoles because they have unique games with a nice art style I can't get in high quality on PC. Wii U has the most.
